The Senate confirmed Kristen Clarke to lead the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice. Clarke has a history of saying insane things about race which are divisive and racist, but she was given a pass.

She got the vote of one Republican: Susan Collins of Maine.

Michael Ginsberg writes at the Daily Caller:

Senate Confirms DOJ Nominee Who Once Pushed Essay Comparing Cops To KKK

The Senate confirmed Kristen Clarke to lead the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division on Tuesday.

Republican Maine Rep. Susan Collins voted with all 50 Democrats to confirm Clarke. Her nomination survived Republican criticism of her promotion of an essay that compared police officers to the Ku Klux Klan, as well as other perceived insults towards police officers.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer was forced to use a discharge petition to advance Clarke’s nomination out of the Senate Judiciary Committee after Democrats and Republicans deadlocked, Axios reported.

While at Columbia University, Clarke recommended an essay entitled “Mumia, ‘Lynch Law’ & Imperialism” to her mentor for an academic journal.

The essay, written by the late Amiri Baraka, declares, “The Klan is now the Police, with Blue uniforms replacing the sheets and hoods. The corrupt racist Judges, are petty Klan administrators.”

Ginsberg also points out that Clarke promoted the Jussie Smollett race hoax. She is an awful choice for any role. Professor Jacobson commented on Twitter:

Some Republicans spoke out against the choice of Clarke.

Senator Susan Collins is a nice woman, but as a Republican she clearly does not understand the moment we are in right now, as I recently noted on Twitter:

The left, the Democrats and the media are cheering the appointment of Clarke and all they keep saying is that she is the first black woman to hold the position. Who cares?

This is a perfect illustration of the left’s insistence on valuing identity over merit. Clarke should not have been confirmed and I will never understand why Collins voted to appoint her.

Can Susan Collins be ousted primaries?

Ben Kent in reply to JusticeDelivered. | May 26, 2021 at 9:11 am

She was just re-elected in Nov 2020 for a 6 year term as Senator.

Not only was she re-elected, she’s about the best we can expect out of Maine. If she hadn’t been the incumbent, the Muslim Democrat opponent would have won. And her winning was a sort of strategic miracle, or maybe Dominion was on her side in exchange for her commitment to vote just as a Dem would from now on.

the dems up here love her too much.
she has had no decent opposition and too much money from all over the spectrum.

People willingly swallowing the poison that the Marxists are serving.

My admiration for Collins has just dropped significantly. Actually, I always though of her as a Senator who thinks clearly and I respected her – even though I disagreed with her at times. , Remember, she was the deciding vote on Cavanaugh, But her vote is just dumb.

I’m shocked that it was only Collins.

    It’s all they needed

artichoke in reply to Paddy M. | May 26, 2021 at 12:48 pm

She doesn’t have to run for 6 years, so she can take the outrageous positions for 2 or 3 years. Then she’ll get to vote right until her next election, while others do the dirty work.

Collins is an idiot. She knows what is going on. She’d just rather be a servitor than stand up for anything.

Did everyone enjoy the latest production of Republican Failure Theater (TM)? Republican leadership pretends to oppose the Biden* regime and keep the rubes satisfied for another news cycle (they vote to rubber-stamp other Biden* nominees). A Republican Senator votes to give the Communists the “bipartisan support” talking point they crave to legitimize the misbegotten rule. Winners all around! Except the beleaguered proles, but nobody cares about them.

“God bless Susan Collins, she seems like a very decent person and I wish her all the best. She does not understand what Republicans and America are up against right now.”

God is welcome to bless her as the manager of an animal rescue farm or as a school lunch lady. Just not as a United States Senator.

“…she seems like a very decent person.”

    That’s a good one. ROFLMAO.

I’ll leave it up to God whether to bless or not. I have no recommendation either way.

Agreed…where the hell did this come from? How long has she been in the Senate? She knows EXACTLY what’s going on and what she is doing.

That said, she is trying to remain in power which is a hair better than someone that will always vote in lockstep with Dems. I give her a little more leeway than people like Romney who don’t have a bunch of middle grounders to please but still insist on betraying their party and grandstanding constantly.

It’s so much easier to lose by one vote when “both” parties have the same number of senators. But the result would have been the same were the Republicans have all 100 senators. Just takes a more complicated kabuki script.

Another day, another example of how GOPe RINO Republicans cannot stick together to oppose the Dems/Marxists. Which is how we arrived at where we are at over the last 40 years. Opposing this candidate should be a political no brainer for a Republican.

Compare and contrast with how the Dems/Marxists are in lockstep 99+% of the time. Only on their most radical and extreme proposals do one or two Senators balk.

If it isn’t Mittens or Murkowski, it’s Collins surrendering to the nutjobs.

Well the effect will be to further the bent of DoJ SR leaders in adopting an ideological viewpoint and using that viewpoint as the basis for targeting the opposition.

Unfortunately this will ultimately result in an entirely predictable tit for tat as the political fortunes of these different ideological viewpoints wax and wane.

Anyone want to wager on what the reaction from the academy, media and other vested establishment interests will be when the ‘shoe’ is ultimately on the other foot?

One day it will be and sooner than the folks rushing headlong into this state of affairs realize. They will not be sanguine then.

Anyone want to wager on what the reaction from the academy, media and other vested establishment interests will be when the ‘shoe’ is ultimately on the other foot?

Which is why these entities are determined to make sure that never happens. Thus HB1, the 1/6 Commission, the purging of the military, and a host of other measures designed to exterminate the opposition.

CommoChief in reply to Recovering Lutheran. | May 26, 2021 at 4:19 pm

No offense but if I were of a tyrannical bent I wouldn’t bother with legislation or a commission. I would assemble my team and take the actions necessary to advance the agenda without regard to appearances.

The fact that these d/ progressive are pussyfooting with all these items is, IMO, evidence that they don’t have the stones to take the very painful actions required to create a dictatorship or true oligarchy.

Do they want that? Sure they do! Are they willing to work for it? C’mon man.. d/progressive don’t like actual ‘roll up the sleeves, get your hands dirty’ work.

Should they ever muster the stones then…..they better pack multiple lunches… because it’s going to be a, proverbial ‘all day job’ for a long number of days.

Frankly the d/progressive like Pelosi scare me as much as some Karen from an HOA. They depend upon your acquiescence to their self perceived authority and importance to gain compliance.

They don’t have the fortitude or the ability to force their d/progressive fever dreams on an unwilling population.

If only this woman was a quack. She is a fascist monster. And the GOP is a monster failure.

Ben Kent in reply to TheFineReport.com. | May 26, 2021 at 4:20 pm

GOP has been, for many years, an enabler. I refer to the establishment wing of the Party. They are not conservatives. The fashion themselves as rulers.

It’s not even an issue of ‘conservative’ or not – it’s an issue of whether they are war-time leaders. They are not.

      They aren’t even peacetime leaders.

      They aren’t leaders.

They are essentially corrupt hacks only good at fighting you and I – for the benefit of their DEMOCRAT handlers.

Racists bleeps like Clarke are an accurate representation of the views of the Democrat Party.

Hatred against whites is now the official policy of the US DOJ. It’s also official policy at our embassies overseas where they’re supposed to fly BLM flags and such.

I am concerned now that speech that has always been OK, regardless of which political persuasion is in power, will now be dangerous to engage in. I may find myself avoiding speaking out. I cannot imagine that this new AG wants to defend the First Amendment, except as it applies to her favored groups.

Racist loon.

“…she seems like a very decent person.”

What does that have to do with being a Senator? I think it is a good act. Her vote for this obvious POS reveals her character.

Ted Bundy seemed like a such a nice guy. His actions revealed his character.

is she related to lightfoot?–they share that same, eerie, prolapse countenance
