There have been many lies spread by The Usual Suspects about Georgia’s new voting law, so much so that even fact-checkers who normally give the left passes are stepping in to set the record straight on some of their false claims.
What’s worse is the lies that are being used by the activist left to pressure “woke” Georgia-based corporations into condemning the law are also being told by President Joe Biden himself and White House press secretary Jen Psaki.
With the news that broke Friday about Major League Baseball pulling their All-Star game out of Georgia in protest, it’s important to revisit the White House’s recent remarks about it. Specifically, we’ll look at how they continued to lie even after called out by fact-checkers, and how just two days after Biden again lied about it and said he’d “strongly support” the MLB pulling the game the league did just that.
Last week during the first formal solo press conference of his presidency (March 25th), Biden described the bill as “un-American” and “sick, sick.”
“What I’m worried about is how un-American this whole initiative is,” he stated. “It’s sick. It’s sick … deciding that you’re going to end voting at five o’clock when working people are just getting off work.”
The following day and after Kemp made the law official with his signature, Biden issued a statement again condemning it.
“Among the outrageous parts of this new state law, it ends voting hours early so working people can’t cast their vote after their shift is over,” he alleged, calling the law an example of “Jim Crow in the 21st Century.”
Just a few days later, Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler – who is no friend to Republicans – wrote a detailed fact check debunking Biden’s repeated claims about Georgia voting hours:
One could understand a flub in a news conference. But then this same claim popped up in an official presidential statement. Not a single expert we consulted who has studied the law understood why Biden made this claim, as this was the section of law that expanded early voting for many Georgians.Somehow Biden managed to turn that expansion into a restriction aimed at working people, calling it “among the outrageous parts” of the law. There’s no evidence that is the case. The president earns Four Pinocchios.
Being held accountable by the Democrat-friendly Washington Post for his false statements about the voting hours part of the law did not deter Biden, who the very next day did an interview with ESPN and proceeded to tell a couple of big whoppers about it, including the debunked one about the voting hours. During the interview he also stated he would “strongly support” the MLB pulling the All-Star game (bolded emphasis added):
MLBPA executive director Tony Clark previously said he “would look forward” to discussions around moving the Midsummer Classic out of Truist Park, and Biden, a Democrat, said he would “strongly support” such a decision.”People look to them,” Biden said, referring to professional athletes and their outsize platforms. “They’re leaders. Look at what happened with the NBA, as well. Look what’s happened across the board. The very people who were victimized the most are the people who are the leaders in these various sports, and it’s just not right. This is Jim Crow on steroids what they’re doing in Georgia and 40 other states. What’s it all about? Imagine passing a law saying you cannot provide water or food for someone standing in line to vote. Can’t do that? Come on. Or you’re going to close the polling place at 5 o’clock when people just get off? This is all about keeping working folks that I grew up with from being able to vote.”
Calling this law “Jim Crow on steroids” is just insane. For starters, he’s just flat out wrong on the voting hours issue, as Kessler reiterated:
He’s also wrong about the food and water claim, as Heritage detailed in a fact check of Democrat/media claims about the law:
FACT: Like the countless other states that have very specific laws against electioneering near polling places, Georgia has codified rules preventing political groups from handing out food or water to voters in line as an incentive to vote, but specifically allows poll workers to make water available to anyone who wants it. The law will also directly cut down wait times, meaning refreshment for people waiting in line will be less necessary.
The day after Biden’s interview, Psaki was asked if she was prepared to issue a correction on Biden’s previous incorrect statements about the law. She refused to do so and instead doubled down on the criticisms:

Kessler responded to the transcript by pointing out that the White House was digging a “pretty deep hole” with their false claims:
Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume noted the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which is also not a Republican-friendly news outlet, also pushed back on the voting hours claim but in their case, it was a correction to their own reporting:
Of course, they won’t own up to it. They have too much at stake politically to reverse course at this point. Biden owes big political debts to “woke” left-wing activist groups who helped propel him to victory, to Georgia liberal icon Stacey Abrams – who the media credits with helping flip the state, and also to House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, who is in neighboring South Carolina and whose district butts up to the Georgia state line. Clyburn has been credited with salvaging Biden’s presidential campaign when it appeared it was about to flame out in early 2020.
All of them staunchly oppose the Georgia voting law.
But words sometimes have negative consequences, some that politicians often have to answer for on down the line come election time. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the MLB decided to cave to left-wing outrage mobs two days after Biden said he’d “strongly support” them doing so. Them pulling the All-Star game out of Georgia was a direct consequence of Biden’s words, in my opinion.
The electoral consequences for Biden as far as Georgia is concerned could come during the midterm elections if enough voters decide that him throwing the state under the bus (and nuking job opportunities for many Georgians in the process) over a law that he is continually lying about was a bridge too far. That goes double for the next presidential election, assuming he hasn’t already handed the reins over to Kamala by that point.
