Sexual harassment allegations against Gov. Andrew Cuomo have made front-page news lately, pushing aside the nursing home COVID-19 deaths.
But a recent poll from Emerson College/WPIX-TV/NewsNation showed that New York voters have not forgotten Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s role in the scandal.
The latest Emerson College/WPIX-TV/NewsNation poll of New York voters finds Governor Andrew Cuomo in a precarious position, with his job approval underwater at 38% approval/48% disapproval. His approval is lowest among those 18-34 (22% approval) and those who are white (26% approval) and highest among Black/African-Americans (62% approval) and those living in NYC (53% approval). Women approve of Cuomo at a higher rate (43% approval/40% disapproval) than men (56% disapproval to 33% approval).
Overall, 64% of New York voters do not want Cuomo re-elected for a fourth term in 2022.
Only 52% of the Democrats said Cuomo should have a fourth term while 48% said no.
I’m glad people have not forgotten those who died in the nursing homes:
Cuomo has come under fire for covering up for months the true number of nursing home residents killed by the coronavirus from lawmakers and the public because of a federal probe. A top aide to the governor admitted the withholding of information in a private meeting, exclusively revealed by the Post, which obtained a transcript of the exchange. The fury also centers on a controversial state policy that required nursing to accept recovering COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals without testing, which critics claim contributed to the death tally. Cuomo and state Health Commissioner Howard Zucker defended their actions.
