Feds Closing in on Andrew Cuomo Over Nursing Home Deaths

Feds Closing in on Andrew Cuomo Over Nursing Home Deaths

“The FBI and Brooklyn federal prosecutors are circling closer to Gov. Andrew Cuomo”

The FBI and Brooklyn federal prosecutors are reportedly getting closer to New York governor Andrew Cuomo’s inner circle as they probe a possible cover-up of Wuhan coronavirus nursing home death data.

The New York Post reports:

The FBI and Brooklyn federal prosecutors are circling closer to Gov. Andrew Cuomo as they probe if he and his administration provided false data to minimize nursing home resident deaths from COVID-19, sources told The Post Friday night.

Investigators have contacted lawyers for Cuomo’s aides, interviewed senior state Health Department officials and subpoenaed the governor’s office for documents relating to the alleged data coverup, the sources said.

. . . . Health officials are being grilled about nursing home-related COVID-19 case and death data the state submitted last year to the Justice Department, sources told The Post.

The probe, which is being overseen by the Eastern District of New York, opened with interviews of senior members of Cuomo’s coronavirus task force but now is looking at Cuomo and his most senior aides as well.

The state Health Department’s July report to the Justice Department had listed only the nursing home residents who died from the virus while still in their nursing home beds — minimizing the death toll by excluding those who died after being taken to hospitals.

His administration waited eight more months before coughing up the true totals; as The Post exclusively reported last month, top Cuomo aide Melissa DeRosa was caught on tape admitting the book-cooking to prevent then-president Donald Trump “turn[ing] this into a giant political football.”

The New York Times has more:

A federal investigation into Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s handling of nursing homes during the pandemic has focused in recent weeks on whether the governor and his senior aides provided false data on resident deaths to the Justice Department, according to four people with knowledge of the investigation.

. . . . Melissa DeRosa, Mr. Cuomo’s top aide, tried to explain why the administration had withheld the data last year to state lawmakers in a conference call, saying she and others “froze” because of the federal request for data, which came in late August as the governor faced criticism over nursing homes.

But more than two months earlier, in June, Ms. DeRosa and other aides removed such data from a report prepared by the Health Department, an investigation by The New York Times found.

A chart included in an early draft of the report, which was reviewed by The Times, showed that the number of total deaths of nursing home residents would have been roughly 9,200 at the time, or 50 percent higher than what Mr. Cuomo’s administration had publicly acknowledged.

The governor’s aides have denied altering the report to withhold the data, arguing that they did not release the figures until they could be properly audited.

The feds are also looking into legal protections New York provided to hospitals and nursing homes that “made it difficult for families of residents who died or were infected by the coronavirus to sue nursing home operators or hospitals.”

The New York Times continues:

Federal investigators also started questioning state officials this month about a provision in last year’s state budget that gave legal protections to hospitals and nursing homes during the pandemic, one of the people said. Investigators’ questions about the nursing home provision were first reported by The City, a local nonprofit newsroom.

The change made it difficult for families of residents who died or were infected by the coronavirus to sue nursing home operators or hospitals. The provision had been lobbied for by industry representatives.

Richard Azzopardi, a senior aide to Mr. Cuomo, said similar legislation had passed in many other states and that New York’s measure “was passed by 111 members of the Legislature.” He said the legal protections were needed to recruit out-of-state health care workers to help during the height of the surge last spring.

How many of those states had governors that ordered thousands of nursing home residents with COVID back into nursing homes might be a relevant point.

It is starting to look like Andrew Cuomo might get another term. In federal prison that is.

They cannot put Cuomo in prison, he is not the governor of Illinois.

This is going to be another of those “stay tuned, indictments are on the way” shuck and jive jobs. The EDNY is handling this and not the SDNY because the US Attorney for the SDNY is Melissa DeRosa’s mother in law. Nothing like keeping it in the “family”.
Do you really think that there won’t be “professional courtesy” extended on this “investigation”?
If you do, let me show you this waterfront property that I’m selling….I can take you to see it at low tide.

It’s comforting to know that somebody in the government still cares about women…

…over 70, and the men sharing facilities with them.

Henry, the only reason Cuomo is getting targeted is because he’s been hogging the presidential ticket potential. That’s the ONLY reason.

The deaths of old people means nothing to the left. The deaths of millions of anyone means nothing to the left.

The Obama machine is purging the Democratic party of the old NY, CA and other long-standing power families including the Clinton machine. The Kennedy machine is long gone.

On the same token, Trump is preparing to purge the GOP of RINOs which is already beginning as more and more of these snakes retire (including McConnell). The Democratic Party is now Obama’s just as the GOP is Trump’s. Obama has a head start but Trump is heading for a monster year in 2022.

Sundance has been very good following this narrative and it resonates. It makes everything we are witnessing make perfect sense. Yes, it’s a conspiracy.

I thought it was clear that he cares about women, as long as there is potential for sex. It seems like he doesn’t treat them very well otherwise.

The Feds are closing in on Cuomo?
That’s a nothing burger. An NBD….no big deal.
I’ll consider paying attention when the… wait for it… when the Walls start closing in on him. Then, when everyone in the chorus is singing that song, then I’ll know it is serious.
By the way, phredo forced group homes for mentally challenged adults to take covid-19 positive people, and, my understanding is, never rescinded that order.

So far, I am not convinced that this is anything more than Kabuki theater. After all, Orange Man Bad and concealing data from him is a plus. Powerful politicians have a long history of questionable activities with women, with few consequences.

They’re only “circling closer” to ultimately exonerate him. That’s the game.

As Don Surber says, “No excitement without an indictment”

Halcyon Daze | March 21, 2021 at 9:49 pm

That would be the coolest thing the feds have ever done in my lifetime.

“no reasonable prosecutor…”

We’ve heard that song before

Meh. Seems more bluff than anything else. I heard similar noises last week about Cuomo’s zipper scandal, and so far it has been a zero.

Planned Parent/hood is one of the venues and choices where there are excess deaths on year over year basis, and where there are recorded excess deaths attributed to Covid-19.. #GLM(Granny Lives Matter) #BLM (Baby Lives Matter)

I assume you mean the Federal Bureau of Incompetence who only seem to be able to manufacture evidence they want and the Sundowner DOJ who is looking for “white supremacists”.
Those Feds?

Cuomo is untouchable. He’ll be Kamalhoe Harris running mate in 2024

“Governor Corleone” “Senator Corleone” From the movie.
Its New Yawk. What else can you expect?

Cuomo may have been set up to take the fall for the Democrat leadership in all of this. They knew exactly what they were doing and they knew exactly how to make the most of this situation. Picture ole LuvGuv with the oxen yoke on his shoulders carrying 2 buckets full of water with KommieKammie behind him drilling holes in each bucket. She doesn’t want him as her “running mate”, she wants him to be a cell mate with another “under the bus” Democrat. LuvGuv isn’t nearly radical enough for her. DiBlabbio is much more her speed!

He [Richard Azzopardi] said the legal protections were needed to recruit out-of-state health care workers to help during the height of the surge last spring.

This, of course, is nonsense. An out-of-state physician (e.g., me) or nurse would not care what protections are being offered to a nursing home or hospital, we’d only care about being sure that NY would allow our out-of-state licenses to be used within the state. Any issues we’d have with ‘protection’ we would take up with the hospital for which we’d be working. And that’s just standard med-mal coverage.

Again, this is nonsense, and Mr. Azzopardi is trying to deflect the issue.

This whole idea should be considered under the premise “all white people” are racist, evil, sexist, get these positions because of “white privilege” and don’t care about other people and their problems. Isn’t that what democrats tell us these days? I’m sure the democrats will see the thinking error and execute Cuomo shortly without a trial. This is a no brainer.

Why can’t they charge him with murder for sending COVID positive people into nursing homes to kill elderly?

These vulnerable senior residence would have been safe if Cuomo would have let them be transferred to the Navy ship Comfort unused out of spite – rather than the Cuomo hand-selected death facilities, Covid 1, Covid 2, Covid 3, etc.
