Virginia Wesleyan U. Dean Who Criticized Biden Voters on Facebook Resigns

“Virginia Wesleyan University announced the resignation Monday in a statement on its website”

We just mentioned this story yesterday. Over the last four years we have heard countless people in higher education insult President Trump and the people who support him, and yet I can’t recall any of them being forced to resign over it.

CBS News reports:

University dean resigns after calling Biden voters “ignorant, anti-American and anti-Christian”

A dean at a university in Virginia has resigned after posting a statement on Facebook that called supporters of President-elect Joe Biden “ignorant, anti-American and anti-Christian.” CBS affiliate WTKR-TV reports that Virginia Wesleyan University announced the resignation Monday in a statement on its website.

The school in Virginia Beach said Paul Ewell resigned as Dean of Virginia Wesleyan University Global Campus. He’s also leaving his job as professor of management, business and economics.

Ewell’s post told Biden supporters to “unfriend” him and accused them of corrupting not only the election but “our youth … our country.” His statements were made on his private Facebook page. But they became public after someone circulated a screenshot, which was posted by WTKR.

The Virginian-Pilot reported on the dean’s comments last week. President Donald Trump retweeted an Associated Press version of the story and used the word “Progress!” to apparently show approval of Ewell’s sentiments.

University spokeswoman Stephanie Smaglo said last week that Ewell has apologized for the post. But she declined to comment further after Monday’s announcement.

Apparently he was not as brave as he thought he was. When conservatives self cancel they are committing ideological suicide.
Either buck up or shut up, you decide. However, here’s a hint…even if you shut up they will still eventually come for you in the dead of night…

    It wasn’t a voluntary resignation.

I work in this area. They fire-resign you. All of the lawyers around here are on retainer with the schools, so they can’t be retained for lawsuits. You are SOL if they want you gone.

Tell me if this quote from an alum in a local news story doesn’t sound Orwellian:

“His post does not invite engagement to a conversation. It closes off the idea of having one to work through a difference of opinion,” said Jasmine Patterson. “He can resign if he wants to, but I don’t think that should be the end all be all. Because even though he is inciting to be closed off from conversation, that could be a conversation for him to engage in, to think about.”

In other words, she’s ignoring that he didn’t resign voluntarily and she would like him instead to be forced into a “conversation”.

He needs to lawyer up, and sue the shit out of them. Furthermore, he should start organizing other people and make the institution sorry. My approach to academic entities I was unhappy with was to torpedo they bids for mileages, and then rub their noses in it.
