Democrats Game Out What To Do If Trump Wins the Electoral College But Loses the Popular Vote

I’ve been reading about the Democrats’ apparent goal of undermining, even attempting to steal, the presidency with growing alarm.

Professor Jacobson has posted about Democrats laying the foundation for some sort of post-Election Day action:

I think he’s onto something, though like him, I don’t know what.  Democrats are certainly trying to prepare the country for a Biden win . . . no matter what it takes for them to make it so.

Therefore, it was with great interest that I clicked over to a Daily Beast article entitled, “The Left Secretly Preps for MAGA Violence After Election Day,” and buried in that hyperbolic drivel was an astounding nugget (archive link).

Of course President Trump will leave office if he loses his re-election bid in November, there is no question about that.  The goal is to gin up the idea, and the left’s base fear, that Trump will refuse to leave even if he loses fair and square.

The left wants this idea to be drilled into the heads of as many people as possible so that they can claim this is what’s happening when / if the election is close, there are questionable things going on post-election with mail-in ballots, particularly in blue and /or battleground states, and even, this is the astounding part, if President Trump wins the election fair and square by securing the Electoral College.

According to the Daily Beast, a vast array of left-leaning groups have joined forces to figure out what to do in order to boot Trump from office and what to do if he wins the Electoral College vote.  In other words, they are gaming what to do if the president duly and lawfully wins the election.

While the sheer number of groups and volunteers involved in the effort has given organizers hope, there is some fear that they may not all be operating from the same playbook. Two sources involved with the FBT [Fight Back Table] discussions said they worry Biden would concede a contested election too early, with an eye toward ensuring a peaceful transition of power. Inside the coalition, there is dispute over whether Biden should even concede if he wins the popular vote but loses the Electoral College, à la Clinton in 2016 and Gore in 2000.Under that scenario, Eldridge said, his organization would not support mass mobilization. “I support the national popular vote,” he explained. “Our organization does advocacy for the popular vote… Unfortunately, the Electoral College is the system that we have.”But the Transition Integrity Project noted that there would be immense pressure on Biden to fight it out if, for the third time in 20 years, the Democratic candidate won the popular vote but didn’t take office. In a simulation they ran, Team Biden “encouraged Western states, particularly California but also Oregon and Washington, and collectively known as ‘Cascadia,’ to secede from the Union” unless structural reforms were made. In exchange for Trump getting the presidency, for instance, Republicans would need to agree to abolish the Electoral College, give Puerto Rico and D.C. statehood, and divide California into five states for better Senate representation.A top official participating in the FBT discussions said the possibility of an Electoral College-popular vote split did come up and that there were mixed opinions over what to do.“It’s the hardest scenario,” the source said. “It’s 2016. But it’s that plus all Trump has done on voter suppression. So I think there is a question but I think both sides are going to fight this till the very end.”

This is something entirely different than sending out Bernie Bros (yes, that’s part of the article, go check it out) to terrorize and destroy Democrat-run cities.  I mean who cares at this point?  If these cities’ Democrat leaders and Democrat voters don’t care about the violence, looting, vandalism, assault, arson, and murder, why should anyone else?

No, this is threatening to secede from the Union in order to extort the United States of America into adopting a Constitutional amendment to abolish the Electoral College, the very thing that protects red states from Democrat power grabs.  It’s unconscionable.

On top of that outrage, as if it’s not enough to make one’s blood boil, they are talking about extorting the United States of America and her people into creating out of whole cloth seven new states, each with representatives and each sending two senators to the United States’ Senate.

For those keeping track at home and keeping in mind that California already has two U.S. Senators, that’s a boost of 12 (almost certainly) Democrat Senators in one fell coup.  (No, that’s not a typo.)

All that “in exchange for Trump getting the presidency” . . . that he has won outright by winning the Electoral College.  Clearly, agreeing to this insanity would undermine not just President Trump but the Office of the President itself.

And remember, that’s just the scenario they are willing to share should Trump win the election without winning the popular vote.  I can’t even begin to imagine what they are afraid to share because even they know it’s too scandalous.

What, for example, does “fight this to the very end” mean?  So what if he wins the EC but not the popular vote or how many times it’s happened in how many years?  If he wins the Electoral College, he wins.  Period.  No fight “to the very end,” no secession, no 12 new Democrat Senators, no nothing but more lawless leftist temper tantrums in Democrat-run cities.

If Trump wins the Electoral College but not the popular vote, the only acceptable response is, “Congratulations, Mr. President.”

Democrats need to be careful.  They are getting dangerously close to doing exactly what they claim to want to prevent: undermining our elections and destroying our long-standing tradition of a peaceful transition of power.  It’s not just Trump supporters who will have a problem with that.
