Republican National Convention Destroyed Biden’s Basement Campaign

Republican National Convention Destroyed Biden’s Basement Campaign

Biden is heading to Minnesota and Wisconsin after Labor Day, a sure sign his internal polling has his handlers worried.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1J5Du8FmzY

I have to hand it the GOP, I did not expect the Republican National Convention to be as effective and good as it was.

It was the greatest show on earth for those four nights, driving home messaging that was extremely damaging to Joe Biden and reaching out to voter groups that are not traditional Republican voters.

Compare the claustrophobic Biden finale:

With the glorious Trump finale. Melanias spectacular lime-green dress stood out, and had the wife (my wife) in awe.

Don’t take my word for it. Bill Maher is nervous: “I feel very nervous, the same way I did four years ago this time.”

The initial polling shows Biden’s almost double-digit national polling lead cut almost in half. Both Morning Consult and Yahoo/YouGov polls show a substantial bump for Trump.

There also are a lot of articles appearing in liberal publications warning of the hidden Trump vote. One of the most interesting is from the NY Times on how conservatives dominate Facebook in a world the mainstream media doesn’t see, What if Facebook Is the Real ‘Silent Majority’?:

Listen, liberals. If you don’t think Donald Trump can get re-elected in November, you need to spend more time on Facebook.

Since the 2016 election, I’ve been obsessively tracking how partisan political content is performing on Facebook, the world’s largest and arguably most influential media platform. Every morning, one of the first browser tabs I open is CrowdTangle — a handy Facebook-owned data tool that offers a bird’s-eye view of what’s popular on the platform. I check which politicians and pundits are going viral. I geek out on trending topics. I browse the previous day’s stories to see which got the most reactions, shares and comments.

Most days, the leader board looks roughly the same: conservative post after conservative post, with the occasional liberal interloper. (If you want to see these lists for yourselves, you can check out @FacebooksTop10, a Twitter account I created that shows the top 10 most-interacted-with link posts by U.S. Facebook pages every day.) ….

But what sticks out, when you dig in to the data, is just how dominant the Facebook right truly is. Pro-Trump political influencers have spent years building a well-oiled media machine that swarms around every major news story, creating a torrent of viral commentary that reliably drowns out both the mainstream media and the liberal opposition….

Maybe Mr. Trump’s “silent majority,” in other words, only seems silent because we’re not looking at their Facebook feeds.

Bloomberg News also reports on a study suggesting the polls are missing Trump voters:

A new online study finds that Republicans and independents are twice as likely as Democrats to say they would not give their true opinion in a telephone poll question about their preference for president in the 2020 election. That raises the possibility that polls understate support for President Donald Trump….

Political party preference was the only characteristic that correlated consistently with reluctance to share presidential preference, Leib says. There was no correlation with age, race, education, or income.

But there’s one other factor that is a tell. When the Democratic National Convention concluded, the Biden campaign indicated that Biden would continue his virtual campaign for the foreseeable future. Then came the RNC, and now Biden is doing more TV interviews and is hitting the campaign trail after Labor Day:

Joe Biden’s coronavirus campaign is coming to an end.

The Democratic presidential nominee who had halted nearly all campaign travel since the pandemic struck in March said on Thursday he plans to return to the trail, likely after Labor Day.

But it’s more than that. The battleground states are essentially in a dead heat in the polling, which probably means Trump is ahead. The Biden campaign clearly is doing its own polling, and they are sufficiently worred that Biden will be visiting in person Minnesota and Wisconsin after Labor Day.

John Hinderaker at Power Line writes that Biden’s new travel plans confirm his battleground polling problems:

But don’t take my word for it: the Biden campaign has implicitly confirmed that their polling, too, shows that Minnesota is in play. On Thursday, Bidenannounced that Minnesota and Wisconsin are among the states he plans to visit, in person, after Labor Day. That is good news if you are a Trump supporter. I don’t think there is any reasonable scenario on which Biden can win the election if he loses Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Joe Biden is going to Minnesota and Wisconsin. His internal polls must be worrying his handlers. The RNC destroyed his basement campaign.

It’s interesting just how divergent views are. Another piece I was reading said Trump’s convention speech was a cataclysmic failure that proved Biden and other critics to be right. Trump contends that nobody will be safe in Biden’s America (at least anyone not of the Jackbooted Left), yet the article contends that Trump’s America is already unsafe, that his inability or unwillingness to deal with the current pandemic is a lethal issue.

Dusty Pitts in reply to George_Kaplan. | August 29, 2020 at 9:23 pm

The views needn’t be all that divergent — only what the different sides are willing or motivated to say. The Trump campaign is content to speak the truth, while the Left wants desperately to convince voters not to believe their own eyes.

I have. There are definitely those on the left whose very emotional existence depends on Trump being beaten. Not gonna happen, of course, so their heads will explode, again.

rfhirsch in reply to Dusty Pitts. | August 30, 2020 at 1:51 pm

Actually, President Trump has done very well in dealing with the pandemic. If you take out New York and New Jersey, whose governors made a total mess of their states’ responses, the death rate for the U.S. ranks in the range 15th to 20th among all the countries.

He put together a top-level task force, headed by VP Mike Pence (Biden never was asked to do anything like that!), with 7 doctors, and was present for all of their briefings, which got the doctors far more attention than if they had done the briefings without him.

He worked with companies to provide ventilators and tests. He provided hospitals to New York and Los Angeles. After several prominent physicians announced the value of HCQ for early-stage treatment, he said so. There are more than 50 published scientific papers confirming that, and not one saying that it does not help in early stage flu.

He put together a top-level task force, headed by VP Mike Pence (Biden never was asked to do anything like that!),

He was, actually, with SARS, and he totally messed it up. He’s just lucky that SARS turned out to be a lot less deadly than had been feared, or the deaths on his hands would have made what they’re blaming Trump for seem like nothing.

Hmmmm… haven’t seen anyone anywhere state President Trump’s speech was a cataclysmic failure…perhaps just wishful thinking on your part

Well there are of course those on the left that are one Trump speech or tweet away from needing a locked psychiatric facility…and their comments and opinions should be dismissed out of hand not treated as if they are part of a balanced political debate…cause they are not, simply deranged, spittle spewing vitriol….the comment I responded to was trying to make it seem like thoughtful people on the right thought his great speech was actually a failure…

I have. There are definitely those on the left whose very emotional existence depends on Trump being beaten. Not gonna happen, of course, so their heads will explode, again.

Those who are part of the political elite (Leftist, and NeverTrump “Right”) are all-in invested in their elite status – financially, professionally, politically, even in terms of reputation and their own self-esteem. They have built their ENTIRE lives around being perceived as the elite.

That is why they hate Donald Trump.

Trump doesn’t give even one rat’s patootie about maintaining that perceived value … and that threatens the value of their investment.

He instead focuses on policies that expand on individual liberty. And every expansion of our liberty he brings about (in energy policy, in regulatory reform, in the judiciary, in the economy), calls into question the perceived value of their investment …

… for it depends upon US needing THEM.

OTOH, all you need to know about how a Biden Administration will rule govern, is what we have learned in the last six months from his party’s governors and mayors.

Reinforced by their four-night run of Panic-Demic Bunker TV they called a convention … vs. the quality presentation, complete with erosion of the systemic-racism narrative by displays of the reality of ordinary Americans, by the RNC and the President.

I don’t see campaign debates showing off Slow Joe’s mental acuity. He’s stupid, and has been wrong about nearly every major issue for over 40 years. The dinosaur media, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Democrat party, has been covering for him for decades. This campaign will not end well for the Dems/Progs.

    jb4 in reply to Romey. | August 29, 2020 at 11:15 pm

I also think that Biden getting out on the campaign trail may not end well. For sure, he will not have the crowds and energy that Trump’s appearances will have. It will likely be heavily scripted, which will not be appealing, and he may make gaffes, consistent with his apparent mental decline.

Fat! Why are you such a lying, dog-faced pony soldier? Biden never gaffes, he’s just “no malarkey,” and when he says Obama is a good candidate because he’s “clean” and “well-spoken,” well, you ain’t black if you don’t get how he’s better on race than Trump. He picked a BLACK VP . . . with a vagina! Fat! Come on! We all know black people are all the same and only Latinos have any diversity in thought and stuff. I’ll punch you in the nose, Fat! /sarc off

The fireworks were a great touch – I wonder if they had the National Anthem simultaneously playing, with its line, “..And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air..” to remind Republican viewers that they are hard fighting a battle to be free of Democrat rule as the US previously fought in history to be free of British rule.

Biden’s small number of people clapping with him at the end looking slightly uncomfortable looks very weak in comparison.

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to jb4. | August 30, 2020 at 9:40 am

I suspect the networks will find a way to – whatever the special effects terminology is – “key in” some video of huge crowds at Biden’s events.

That video of Biden and the closing of the DNC made me throw up in my mouth. It took me back to my time in tech where for years I was a consistent top tier revenue producer at one of the largest firms in the valley. It felt like an all hands meeting where the vanity and contrived excitement was so transparent and all I could think is these idiots are preventing me from making money that pays their salary.

Once Biden’s incoherence becomes widespread, he should be finished. I hope.

Broadway Joe could throw the ball.
Did Basement Joe just drop it?

MAGA 2020

Looks like Biden peaked too early. How many times has a prevent defense backfired? Let’s hope that Trump keeps building the momentum by showing he stands for ALL the people.

Biden is heading to Minnesota and Wisconsin after Labor Day, a sure sign his internal polling has his handlers worried.
——
Bet they are worried , his agenda and his speaking in person about it will be horrendous for him.

Now I see why Melania wore the battle green military dress in the Rose garden… that’s my girl!

I worked in broadcasting for over 30 years. Audience surveys were the lifeblood of who won — or lost — in the media ratings.

In survey after survey, the “participation rate” of the primary media rating company was 40%. This means that 60% of the people contacted refused to participate in the survey. By definition, we could not know what media those non-participants preferred. What is the participation rate of the current presidential surveys?

Beyond that, focus groups we conducted revealed that subjects who claimed they only used a single media actually knew — in great detail — what the other media in the survey were doing. The only way they could know those details is if they were sampling more than their “exclusive” media.

Bottom line: people don’t always tell the truth. The only true polling that matters is on election day. Everything else is just chaff on the radar screen.

Let the pollster beware.

The RNC was a complete win for Trump. From the focus on America and American values to the real world stories of real Americans (vs. the Hollywood has beens that peopled the DNC), the RNC spoke to Americans. So much so that C-SPAN changed its format for listing call-in numbers from Democrat/Republican to Support Biden/Support Trump because so many people were calling in to the Democrat line saying they now support Trump.

As to the hidden / “shy” Trump vote, it’s very very real. And it’s the Deomcrats’ own fault. In their push to force people to kneel, raise a black/socialist power fist, beat and shame anyone wearing a MAGA hat, and etc., they have not won hearts and minds. Those who are forced to make empty statements and are compelled to speech they disagree with (including the absence of said speech as in not showing Trump support) don’t stop supporting Trump, if anything, their resolve is entrenched by the leftist cry-bullies.

All they are doing is driving Trump support from poll view, so they won’t know or see what hits them in November. Democrats by the droves are walking away, and the Dems don’t even know it because they have created an atmosphere that doesn’t change minds but hides–and strengthens–voters true belief in and support for Trump.

We haven’t lost our country, and there is great reason to believe we will not. But we cannot rely on a hidden or shy Trump vote since we can’t know how large it is. We do know that for Trump to win on Election Day and not months later (have it stolen by Dems), the win has to be resounding, a landslide.

In a sort of related way, check out Katya’s post over at the Federalist: https://thefederalist.com/2020/08/27/the-worst-part-about-fake-anti-racism-is-that-it-forces-us-to-live-lies/

We are not at the point where we are forced to live the commie lie, but many may feel compelled to pretend to be . . . until they get that ballot in their hands.

This doesn’t even address the blatant over or under sampling of one group or multiple groups to get the desired outcome.

That’s kind of built in. The goal is to depress the Trump vote, but we all know that every Trump voter knows our vote is THE vote. He has to win by a landslide, sooner rather than later. Vote. Get involved in local GOTV efforts.

Thanks for the link to Katya Sedgwick’s excellent article “The Worst Part About Fake ‘Anti-Racism’ Is That It Forces Us To Live Lies.”

With respect to the humiliation of “being forced to live a lie”, Theodore Dalrymple [Anthony Daniels] said this about the real purpose of propaganda, ie., the lies that people are forced to accept:

“Political correctness is communist propaganda writ small.

In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, not to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better.

When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity.

To assent to obvious lies is in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control.

I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to.”

I never watch this stuff, but tuned in for Trump a bit on the radio and caught the Covington kids speech online.

Both were very positive messages.

Watch – Biden will stop at Lambeau field and praise the Vikings, then wear a cheesehead hat in Minnesota (after his handlers prevent him from taking a bite out of it) …

In 2004, John Kerry spoke at Lambeau Field- which he called “Lambert Field.” But Kerry still won Wisconsin.

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to PostLiberal. | August 30, 2020 at 9:52 am

I may. be wrong, but I just don’t see that many voters hinging their decisions on a candidate mis-pronouncing or mis-identifying the name of where they are speaking. The state, maybe, but not a place like that.

One factor in polling responses is that there is no way of actually being sure that whoever calls in a poll is who they say they are. And anyone who expresses any conservative sentiments may be setting themselves of for harassment or attack by the Democrats or their street armies. TWANLOC.

Subotai Bahadur

Basement Joe and Hater Harris are a’ comin’ to a town near you.

Ugh.

Basement biden. Hiden’ biden. At this point biden can not resist getting intangled in verbal altercations. Whether dementia or some other condition, doesn’t matter, he’s “gone” and seems to be getting worse. The joe biden AR-14 attack on Detroit auto worker Jerry Wayne essentially ended the biden campaign, everything since has been a charade.

It’s so painfully obvious that the self-serving Dhimmi-crats only profess to care about Midwestern voters when the polls bode ill for them. Otherwise, it’s all about kissing Manhattan, Hollywood and San Francisco/Silicon Valley asses, 24/7.

These idiots are so contemptible and so transparent in their motives. They pull this stunt every four years.

Biden can tell Minnesotans and Wisconson voters that he’ll force them to wear a mask, by imperial edict, and, he’ll let the “Black Lives Matter” and “Anti-fa” thug-jackboots burn their cities and towns to the ground — after the Dhimmi-crats have disbanded the police forces — if only they’ll vote for him.

What an alluring sales pitch. If voters are dumb enough to vote for this crap, they deserve to reap the consequences.

I predict that Biden, in being forced out of his basement hiding campaign, will end up making a number of gaffs that will eventually become so great that his mental decline will no longer be anything that they can keep hidden. Likely he will make a monumental error from which no recovery is possible. Once this happens the Democrats will work overtime to try and get the election delayed or who knows what using the excuse that their candidate is no longer viable and they need the time to obtain a new one. Somehow, they will try to get everyone to believe that Joe’s mental decline was a shock to them out of nowhere when, in reality, they knew about it for a long time and have worked hard to keep it hidden. This “sudden appearance” of Joe’s dementia will be used by the Left to claim how unfair this all is and how Trump once again stole the election.

CorkyAgain in reply to Cleetus. | August 30, 2020 at 2:22 pm

His inevitable gaffes will trigger his replacement at the top of the ticket, as many of us have been expecting ever since he clinched the nomination in the primaries.

I don’t think they really need any time to find that replacement candidate. I think they decided who it will be long ago. But you could be right about it being an excuse they’ll use to try to delay the election. (I don’t think their argument will succeed.)

I think the Dems plan was to keep him in the basement to force a virtual debate. Trump shamed him out and now he will have to show up on stage.

As for Minnesota and Wisconsin, I wonder what the format will be? Will he tour burned out Minneapolis and try to further his claim that the riots are part of Trump’s evil master plan? Or will he avoid them like the plague and claim he is the healer almighty? I would hate to be his strategist because I see this as a lose-lose.

ScottTheEngineer | August 30, 2020 at 8:20 am

I predict a trump landslide in real votes but a Biden win in mail-in fraud. The only question will be who has the better lawyers and judges.

I get these text from Democrats sometimes. I text back and ask why should I support a party that loves pedophiles/transweirdos, anti-gun, pro illegal immigration, support vote fraud, and hate white people. I don’t tell them who I’m voting for though.

    Heh.

How much do you want to bet that, like Dumb and Dumber, they’re thinking “So you’re saying there’s a chance?”

Another whack-job liberal Michael Moore sounds even more desperate than he was in 2016 when he predicted a Trump victory:

https://www.breitbart.com/entertainment/2020/08/29/michael-moore-warns-democrats-enthusiasm-for-trump-2020-off-the-charts/

Interesting that Bill Maher is citing Facebook rather than polls in his reasoning. Two weeks ago, I was polled twice by two different pollsters. I lied through my teeth to the questions like a demented Marxist. How many Trump supporters are doing the same thing? Maybe they are finally hearing us. WE DON’T TRUST ANY PART OF THE POLITICAL/MEDIA/ENTERTAINMENT MACHINE!

When political movements are based on fundamental lies requiring the corruption of the entire establishment and endless lying, who can trust anyone or anything? That’s a two-edged sword. That is why Marxist movements fail even when they succeed. After the useful tools are killed off, the ensuing paranoia among the leadership leads to a collapse at the very top. That leads to purges as the Masters of the Universe wage war against each other to find out who will be king of the hill.

When I see pictures of those white BLM useful tools that took over the Portland Mayor’s residence yesterday, I see dead people. In a tribal world, you need to know which tribe you belong to or you learn the hard way race and gender are NOT optional regardless of how you “feel”.

We are being lectured by these kooks that being white is defacto racist. We have no choice. Those trying to weasel into BLM seem deaf, dumb and blind to that. Like it or not, you either stick to your tribe like birds of a feather or start your own tribe. I see dead people.

Zac, if you guys want to lecture someone on morality, remember that it helps to have some. You want us to be outraged over a photo-op. Unfortunately for your cause, we remember how Obama weaponized the IRS against conservative groups, how the DOJ and FBI lied to the court to get Ted Stevens, how Obama’s FBI conspired with the Hillary campaign to use a fake dossier and lie to the FISA court to illegally spy on his political opponent. We remember all that and more. And, we remember that you weren’t really outraged about any of it. Any fake outrage (like MeToo) was just cover while you planned the next assault on virtue. So we don’t care. You have moved from interesting to just background noise. Remember the boy who cried wolf? That’s what happens to serial liars.

    MAGA 2020!

The Democratic House under Pelosi has used government resources of every description for its campaign (impeachment, election, whatever) purposes all the time. Likewise, the swamp as a whole since before 2016. One giant hijacking of government.

Below are some interesting data on people who watched the DNC and the RNC on C-Span using YouTube. The RNC had 14 times more total viewers than the DNC over the 4 days. The DNC actually had more NEGATIVE than positive ratings, while the RNC was strongly positive. This supports the idea that Republicans are using the web more, and not just Facebook.

Day Views +Ratings -Ratings
DNC
1 83K 1.4K 2.1K
2 52K 731 904
3 66K 1.1K 1.0K
4 164K 2.8K 4.6K
Total 365K 6.0K 8.6K
RNC
1 1.04M 24K 9K
2 1.81M 30K 8K
3 0.95M 21K 4K
4 1.39M 42K 9K
Total 5.19M 117K 30K

By the way, the media are saying that the DNC had more viewers on TV for their convention than the Republicans for their convention. However, this leaves out the online viewership on media web sites and on Facebook and YouTube. I checked YouTube for day one of the RNC and found more than 4 million viewers. This does not include people who viewed it on the media’s own websites just YouTube.

Note: The data were collected the day after the RNC ended. They will be higher now due to people looking at them since Friday.
