Seattle Council Member Calls for Overthrow of ‘Racist, Sexist, Violent, Utterly Bankrupt System of Capitalism’

Seattle Council Member Calls for Overthrow of ‘Racist, Sexist, Violent, Utterly Bankrupt System of Capitalism’

“We cannot and will not stop until we overthrow it and replace it with a world based instead on solidarity, genuine democracy, and equality – a socialist world.”

https://twitter.com/realchrisrufo/status/1280578930060128256

Seattle Councilwoman Ksghama Sawant, socialist, went on a crazy rant against Amazon after the council passed a payroll tax on big businesses.

Sawant is basically a female Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). No private businesses, housing, etc.

First off, background on the tax:

The narrowly tailored tax is aimed only at the city’s biggest businesses paying the highest salaries. It would spare small businesses and middle- and lower-class residents struggling to get by in a city where housing prices have continued to rise unabated during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The council bill would provide for levies on an estimated 800 Seattle corporations at escalating rates. Companies with payrolls of $7 million to under $100 million would be subjected to a .7% rate on cumulative compensation of $150,000 to under $400,000 and 1.7% on compensation of $400,000 and above. Corporations with $100 million to under $1 billion payrolls would be taxed at a .7% rate on cumulative compensation of $150,000 to under $400,000 and 1.9% on compensation of $400,000 and above. Corporations with payrolls over $1 billion would be taxed 1.4% on compensation from $150,000 to under $400,000 and 2.4% on compensation of $400,000 or more.

To Sawant, this tax is the first step to building that socialist utopia where money grows on trees, the skies always have rainbows, and nobody is allowed to showcase a personality!

The Socialist Alternative website has the whole speech, but here’s the big part:

I have a message for Jeff Bezos and his class.

If you attempt again to overturn the Amazon Tax, working people will go all out in the thousands to defeat you.

And we will not stop there.

Because you see, we are fighting for far more than this tax, we are preparing the ground for a different kind of society.

And if you, Jeff Bezos, want to drive that process forward by lashing out against us in our modest demands, then so be it.

Because we are coming for you and your rotten system.

We are coming to dismantle this deeply oppressive, racist, sexist, violent, utterly bankrupt system of capitalism, this police state.

We cannot and will not stop until we overthrow it and replace it with a world based instead on solidarity, genuine democracy, and equality – a socialist world.

Sawant also had ideas for this utopia that Seattle can accomplish if they take advantage of this “energy.” She wants the city to release “all arrested protesters without charges, and to defund Seattle police by at least 50 percent, to stop the sweeps of homeless neighbors and fund tiny house villages, to win at least a thousand homes in the Central District for black working families.”

After all, “capitalism is completely incapable of meeting the most basic needs of working people.” Did Sawant not see the stores at the beginning of the pandemic? Sure the stores ran out of products, but it did not take long for stockers to fill the shelves again.

You know, unlike in Venezuela or Cuba.

It seems that Sawant is not popular with Seattle officials.

Only six days ago Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan asked the City Council to investigate and maybe even expel Sawant from the council due to a “series of actions surrounding police protests.”

Durkan sent a letter to Council President Lorena González last week:

“Disagreements on policy contribute to a robust public debate. However, policy disagreements do not justify a Councilmember who potentially uses their position in violation of law or who recklessly undermines the safety of others, all for political theatre,” Durkan wrote in the letter.

Durkan’s letter accuses Sawant of the following:

  • Allowing hundreds of protesters into City Hall after hours without following social distancing or masking protocols, prompting safety complaints from janitorial staff.
  • Leading a protest to the mayor’s home, knowing that Durkan’s address is protected by a state program due to threats related her her time as a U.S. Attorney.
  • Using her position to encourage protesters to occupy the East Precinct as “the City has been trying to de-escalate the situation and ask individuals to depart because of violence in the area.”
  • Durkan took personal issue with Sawant’s decision to deliver a speech outside her home over the weekend.

“All of us have joined hundreds of demonstrations across the City, but Councilmember Sawant and her followers chose to do so with reckless disregard of the safety of my family and children. In addition, during or after Councilmember Sawant’s speech at that rally, her followers vandalized my home by spray-painting obscenities,” Durkan wrote.

González said she will not investigate Sawant.

I can’t say what I’m thinking, but it needs to happen.

Does it involve that backhoe you want?

You can say it. It’s a free country. Wishing that something happens is not a threat to do it. Even saying that someone ought to do it is not a threat to do it yourself. Even predicting that under certain future conditions someone is likely to do it is not a threat.

Nor is it incitement unless it’s both subjectively intended and objectively likely that someone will act on it immediately upon reading it, without stopping to think about it themselves and make their own decision.

      About the downvoters:

Useless scolds. George Washington shot the son of a bitches – a lot of them.

I’m sure we can at least discuss our desire to see our traitors destroyed.

Tom Servo in reply to Milhouse. | July 8, 2020 at 8:55 am

People seem to be forgetting that Mayor Jenny is every bit as bad as Sawant; Mayor Jenny was the one who coddled and supported the CHAZ/CHOP zone as long as it was there, while Sawant did cheerleading. The Mayor ONLY got angry when Sawant, trying to get her name back in the news, led a contingent of Antifa protestors over to the Mayor’s house. THEN she got all upset, because now it was HER property and not other peoples being threatened.

I hope this idiot becomes the next Mayor of Seattle, and I hope she and her followers burn Seattle to the ground. That city deserves them, and it deserves that fate. In a just world, we’d go ahead and do it ourselves, but better to just sit back and let them do it to themselves.

    Reading you loud and clear.

Obviously leave Seattle, and perhaps Washington State. Do not tell anyone, just pack up and go after secretly acquiring a replacement location like Nestle Foods America and Toyota North America did when they left CA.

      Wal-Mart Plans To Launch Its
“Amazon Prime Killer” Later This Month

      https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/wal-mart-plans-launch-its-amazon-prime-killer-later-month

        Thanks for the heads-up.

Did a comparative buy a month ago; Walmart beat Amazon on price, and delivered everything before Amazon would have shipped. I’m esp. angry with Amazon over their unilateral changes to Amazon Prime 2-day shipping. I can’t get anything from them now in less than a week. An order placed yesterday for a couple items I couldn’t get anywhere else defaulted to my “Amazon Day Delivery” a week out.

I won’t be renewing Prime and contemplating cancellation. Need to evaluate the impact of that on Kindle books and video rentals. If those services unaffected: bye!

JusticeDelivered in reply to MrE. | July 8, 2020 at 12:55 pm

I agree, and unlike Amazon, Walmart does not keep shipping stuff USPS (USPS incompetent plug should be pulled).

Whatever horror these people are advocating, don’t fool yourself: the GOPe is with them:

GOP Group with McConnell’s Blessing is Spending $2 Million Against Pro-Trump Senatorial Candidate Kris Kobach in Kansas:

If she comes for people, she may encounter more McCloskeys.

Diversitist, Abortive, utterly Liberal System of Progressivism.

That said, you can’t hold reproductive rites unless there is rape culture. How can you hold reproductive rites if there isn’t any rape culture? We don’t need no indoctrination.
– Pink Pussyhat (PP)

Easy solution to your problem, Durkan. Just go whisper in Hillary’s ear that Sawant has copies of the lost e-mails and is planning on releasing them to the press. End of problem.

Oh, Sawant documented Durkan with a hope and brayer to cancel her. Well, it’s her Choice, rite?

How can so much stupid fit into such an empty brain?

GatorGuy in reply to Snail. | July 7, 2020 at 11:18 pm

By the principle of Inane Prevarication: the more one wavers and deflects, the emptier the message; brain volume is simultaneously evacuated as content-less, evasive speech is uttered. It’s a genetically-determined feature of a new strain of H sapiens: logononsensis.

Thinking and acting that way takes a certain degree of — how does one say? — ah, yes, foolish brashness.

Pay it no attention or respect; your concern, if any, no time — until and unless she’s your boss, or residential sector lead (in her brave new world).

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to Snail. | July 8, 2020 at 2:28 pm

Because she is an idiot Sawant!

    /someone had to…

Evil Otto in reply to Snail. | July 9, 2020 at 7:55 am

Because there’s plenty of room. There’s no actual thought there, just leftist dogma repeated without examination or criticism.

Let me be the first to predict it: Ksghama Sawant could very well be the next Mayor of Seattle. White Karen Communist (WKC) Durkan could get deposed by Communist of Color (COC) Sawant.

Think about it. Who could be the absolutely dumbest, worst-possible choice the voters of Seattle could vote for? Who is 100% guaranteed to take the grim situation Seattle is facing and turn it into bleak disaster? Who is the most Pol Pot-like, the one who has the best chance of turning Seattle into Kampuchea? Sawant has that “honor” locked up.

“and replace it with a world based instead on solidarity, genuine democracy, and equality – a socialist world”

Translation,

The New World Order = World Government

Dimsdale in reply to pfg. | July 7, 2020 at 9:31 pm

In other words, she wants to exchange the current fantasy police state with a real one. That is the calling card of the socialists, isn’t it?

As an aside, where does she originally come from, with that wacky accent?

pfg in reply to Dimsdale. | July 7, 2020 at 9:42 pm

      India.

      Here’s her lowdown,

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kshama_Sawant

She’s been deeply marinated in lefty think her whole life. She’s always received a paycheck from some public entity. Meaning, she’s lived off the taxpayer all her life. Never having earned a real paycheck explains a lot of why she thinks money either grows on trees or that businessmen can command consumers to buy their products and therefore become wealthy.

CorkyAgain in reply to pfg. | July 8, 2020 at 8:37 pm

Her degree is in Computer Science and I think she briefly worked at Microsoft after immigrating from India to join her then-husband Vivek at the company.

Microsoft is one of the biggest abusers of the H1-B program.

        Thanks a lot, Bill.

henrybowman in reply to Dimsdale. | July 8, 2020 at 3:28 pm

Imagine her saying, “Thank you, come again.” Now it’s obvious, isn’t it?

healthguyfsu | July 7, 2020 at 8:19 pm

Bezos is no friend of us, but her timing couldn’t be worse. Amazon basically saved a large portion of America by itself during the lockdown.

Time to leave Seattle.

It is my sincere hope Amazon stays, and gets totally destroyed by the Communists they lavishly fund. Bezos would certainly deserve it.

Trouble is I think this could be just kabuki, and Sawant may turn out to be another run-of-the-mill corporate Communist. I am mean and spiteful enough that just once I would like to see justice and watch Bezos get guillotined (literally) by his precious Red Guard pets.

She would be a fun date. Especially when it was time to pick up the check.

Dimsdale in reply to Anchovy. | July 7, 2020 at 9:32 pm

Shouldn’t the coyote part of the date come before you wake up and see her when you are sober?

A socialist world ruled by a minority, where democracy is overridden when politically congruent (“=”), with [rabid] diversity, redistributive change, and Choice for some, select Lives Matter.

“If you attempt again to overturn the Amazon Tax, working people will go all out in the thousands to defeat you”

I think she has “defeat” mixed up with “applaud”.. As thousands of working people click on what their next purchase will be on their Amazon Prime account.

“Sawant is basically a female Sen. Bernie Sanders”
Without Bernie’s goofy charm. In fact no charm at all, she’s a completely hideous person. Bernie has brainwashed himself, he really believes what he spouts. Sawant is obviously just bent on brainwashing others. She’s in it for the power, not for the “working class.”

“You know, unlike in Venezuela or Cuba.”
Capitalism: Sometimes the stores run out of things.
Socialism: Sometimes the stores have things to sell.

Seattle is getting exactly what it voted for.

You’d think if you were taxed to oblivian. At risk for being assaulted when you walk down the street and had your property stolen/vandalized a million times and then had all your local businesses leave town, you’d vote differently. Nope. They keep re-electing the same clowns… including the prosecutor who won’t prosecute any of these criminals.

If you talk about conservative values there- you will be attacked. Literally- physically attacked.

Seattle has been BEGGING for the Old Testament plagues that have been raining down on them.

amatuerwrangler | July 7, 2020 at 8:57 pm

Has she given any hint as to where the money is going to come from when all the big businesses have been stomped into the mud?

I’m no fan of Amazon, other than they are a good place to start a search for something. Once you locate it a general search for the producer or store selling it can eliminate the middle-man.

Amazon needs to move their operation out of Seattle as a means of giving her a chance to demonstrate her financial skills.

I worked for Boeing until the merger with McDonnell-Douglas. At about the same time, I married a teacher from the rural midwest after meeting as pen-pals. She loved teaching more than I loved Boeing, so I resigned and relocated to the midwest after we married. Heck of a culture shock for me, but I came to love the simple life.

One trip back out to Seattle to visit Dad had me flying out of O’Hare where I met up with a friend in Chicago. He led me on a short walking tour around Union (Amtrak) Station where we overlooked the river and then stopped to point up at the BOEING sign atop a skyscraper. I had no idea Boeing had relocated their HQ from south Seattle to Chicago. Boeing is still heavily invested in Everett, Renton, Kent and Auburn. I don’t know about their ops within the Seattle city limits. I’d like to think (since they control my pension) they were smart enough to get out of Seattle while the getting was good.

Amazing how fast my facial tick returned upon seeing that BOEING sign. 😉

I will never be in solidarity with her.

Dusty Pitts | July 7, 2020 at 9:13 pm

So they’re going to bash their brains out on the brick wall of reality in their futile pursuit, forever.

Their advantage in not having a brain is what makes it feasible.

“Seattle Council Member Calls for Overthrow of ‘Racist, Sexist, Violent, Utterly Bankrupt System of Capitalism”

I agree with this.

Let’s call the new system … “Chaz” and see what happens.

henrybowman in reply to LukeHandCool. | July 8, 2020 at 3:31 pm

Yup. Instead of its city being invaded and appropriated by anarchists, what Seattle really needed was to have it vacated and abandoned by capitalists. Everybody happy.

So the council member urging a shift from one system of economic and political governance to another. Why, are her preferred systems better?

How can she make a determination without objectivity? I was explicitly told that that objectivity is a racist conceit of the white, patriarchal, cis-gendered, hetero-normative power structure.

Has anyone told her that her arguments are problematic? Hey, I didn’t make these rules but if we are supposed to take them seriously then the rules are for everyone. If not then they are applicable to no one.

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to CommoChief. | July 8, 2020 at 2:13 am

Just find out how much bribe money she’s taken from the Communist Chinese.

    Fraud audit her.

This is the future of the Democrat Party.

Extremists like this are increasingly common and are now, really, mainstream for the D’s.

I weep for the future of my country.

She’s really sure about her abilities and powers — isn’t she? — and all of human nature’s full and sweeping coordination, compliance, and support — no? Very grand, and concerning, to be sure.

Are we looking at Kali maybe, in drag; are we really talking about death, visited through time? Maybe; anyway, what else could totalistic socialism be on earth?

Idiot Sawant

BierceAmbrose | July 8, 2020 at 12:03 pm

It’s not even subtle any more. Gonna plug into a system to “fundamentally transform” it.

Really, if “the system” is so corrupt n ineffective, why you gotta plug in to change things? Your better way should win on simple strength n effectiveness, esp w/o all that wtongness dragging it down.

She reminds me of a syndrome I’ve witnessed several times in large organizations. There always seems to be someone who is an agitator and malcontent. When finally they see the writing on the wall that things aren’t going to change to their liking and they’ll never be given the power/position they crave, they leave in a big huff-scene with proclamations of triggering a “mass exodus”. Because up to that point, “everyone agrees with me” so they claim. When in truth, everyone has just been paying lip service to the crazy, and is greatly relieved when the malcontented-agitator departs, content to go back to their quiet corner to do a job that pays the bills so they can go home and live.

The woman commands no following, has no army, just delusions and people will be glad to see her go. They may have already made mental note to vote her out.

Jay “wear a mask or else / sign the guest register at restaurants for contact tracing” Inslee is up for re-election in November. I wonder how many people have determined to do their best to throw that bum out?
