No one wishes her any ill will but when is it time to live your life for you and not an ungrateful party?

    dmacleo in reply to 2smartforlibs. | July 17, 2020 at 1:20 pm

I do. problem with feelgood generic statements like “no one wishes her any ill will” is that they are often a pure lie.
this person has stayed in her position purely for selfish reasons.
screw not wishing her ill will.
I’m just honest enough to state out load what MANY are thinking.

Paul In Sweden in reply to 2smartforlibs. | July 17, 2020 at 3:00 pm

Yeah, sure, of course; but right now I am going to my bookshelf to read up on the remedies that finally took Rasputin out of court.

    JusticeDelivered in reply to 2smartforlibs. | July 17, 2020 at 3:25 pm

There are worse things than dying. She does have options, while Jack Kevorkian is gone, his methods live on. Perhaps she should explore them.

Morning Sunshine in reply to JusticeDelivered. | July 18, 2020 at 8:09 am

not if you are a liberal. The two afterlife options available to them
1 – purely truly an atheist. In which case, you cease to exist after you die. That is bad and why so many liberals hate and fight the idea of death so much. It IS the END. Why they have such a visceral reaction to a family member dying, and why they hate so badly *anything* that would cause death (COVID, guns, etc).

2 – a latent Believer, even if they no longer admit it. In which case, you will go to Hell (of whatever sort they “don’t believe in.” But they know, the Light of God that is in them tells them that so much of what they do is wrong, and so they fight death so hard because they DO KNOW what is waiting for them on the other side. And the Devil does NOT support his followers in the end; he cannot.

I do not know in which camp RBG falls. But either way, she is fighting tooth and nail to stop her death. I suspect it is camp number 2, and she is scared to death of what comes next.

She will not leave the court as long as there is a Republican in the White House.

Eastwood Ravine in reply to Ironman. | July 17, 2020 at 2:17 pm

She didn’t leave the court when Obama was in the White House. Her allies tried to “gently” nudge her to retire during his term. Although her reasons for not retiring during Trump’s term are political, her ego, her sheer willpower, is probably keeping her alive.

Does anyone not think that if the politics of the situation were reversed, that if a Republican appointee to court was battling his third (fourth?! idk) cancer diagnosis, the Press and the Left would place enormous pressure for that person to retire “for the good of the Court and the country.”

ConradCA in reply to Ironman. | July 17, 2020 at 3:52 pm

This type of cancer can kill you quickly.

Edward in reply to Ironman. | July 17, 2020 at 3:54 pm

Unless it is feet first, of course.

    3525Tex in reply to Ironman. | July 17, 2020 at 4:46 pm

So, what will she do if Trump is re elected? For Ginsburg, serving 4 more years seems impossible.

      Paul in reply to 3525Tex. | July 17, 2020 at 6:34 pm

She just has to hold on awhile longer. As all the people “in the know” will tell you, Gropey Joe has a 97% chance of winning.

Justice Ginsburg will be kept alive by all means necessary. That includes dialysis, a ventricular assist device, membrane oxygenation, feeding tube and whatever other extraordinary means medicine has to offer. I expect even if she is technically breain dead she would still vote in Court proceedings.

There are those who might argue that she’s been brain dead for at least 20 years.

Com’n, Ruthie, give it up. The seat, that is. Go home and spend the last days in some dignity. Your leftist friends want you to cling to the bitter end. They hope to get a reprieve with a Biden win, regardless of how unlikely. And you think you’ll be a hero, helping out by staying on. But think of the utter disappointment you’ll experience, come November, when Trump wins his second term and you realize it was all for naught.

And btw, Ruthie, you ain’t as smart as you think. From 2009 to 2014 you and the then AA president could have sewn up your seat. But you, after polishing your crystal ball, knew better.

Here’s Ruthie in 2018, foolishly showing her presumptuousness (from a CNN article),

“Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said she hopes to stay on the Supreme Court until the age of 90. “I’m now 85,” Ginsburg said on Sunday. “My senior colleague, Justice John Paul Stevens, he stepped down when he was 90, so think I have about at least five more years.”

Just musing here, but I wonder if the quality of His Imperial Executiveness, Barak the Nonpareil’s two picks decided retirement for her. She decided there was no way in Hades he would get to replace her with another one like those two.

Eastwood Ravine in reply to Edward. | July 17, 2020 at 11:09 pm

That’s a thought. That she may have stayed a choice to retire because she thought Obama’s choice to replace (which she might have very well know) forced her choice to remain on the court.

MattMusson in reply to dystopia. | July 17, 2020 at 2:37 pm

ConradCA in reply to MattMusson. | July 17, 2020 at 3:57 pm

They can appoint a replacement in the 3 months before Trump is sworn in for his 2nd term.

fscarn in reply to ConradCA. | July 17, 2020 at 4:33 pm

Maybe. There’s a couple of snakes in the 53. Mittens, Murkowski, Collins, Loeffler,

Septimus in reply to fscarn. | July 18, 2020 at 2:34 pm

Collins is in a tough spot, facing election in November. She potentially loses either way she votes, so it’s going to be a careful calculus. Murkowski probably votes against Trump’s nominee if that nominee is successfully painted as “extreme.” If Romney wants to run for re-election, he votes for Trump’s nominee if at all possible. I don’t know anything about Loeffler, but she’s in Georgia, and that means she needs to back Trump’s nominee (same calculus as Romney).

Meanwhile, there’s Manchin (D) from West Virginia; he survives because he’s perceived as not one of those liberals; so he may vote for Trump’s pick. Doug Jones (D) from Alabama probably still votes against, but he might be pressurable.

The GOP can lose three and still win, with Pence casting deciding vote. Based on his track record, Trump will know he has to pick well, and then fight hard to get his pick nominated. I can’t imagine the wheeling-and-dealing. Maybe Collins gets some ambassadorial appointment after the election? Romney gets his face on Mt. Rushmore? Murkowski gets an indoor banana plantation in Alaska.

Sorry, thought I saw the word “ventriloquist” in your post. Not that the left wouldn’t jump all over that exploit with RBG’s eventual corpse.

Connivin Caniff | July 17, 2020 at 1:28 pm

I think Trump should take credit for motivating her to stay alive.

Chemo ain’t like taking a couple of aspirin. The idea of her chugging along “full steam” is absurd. She simply isn’t up to the job.

Expect voter fraud of tectonic proportions from the Dems to prevent another Trump SCOTUS nomination.

But they should cheer up—maybe they’ll get another Roberts.

TheOldZombie | July 17, 2020 at 1:43 pm

Came back? It never left. They’ve only been desperately holding it at bay.

My belief that is if Trump wins, I think he will but you can never say anything is a lock anymore, she will resign the day after his victory is confirmed. She will be gone sometime next year. She just can’t keep up with it no matter how much they say she’s keeping up with it.

They are holding out hope that Trump loses. She won’t admit it or maybe she actually believes what she says about doing the job full steam but I’m sure she knows she made a mistake in not letting Obama choose her replacement.

Ginsburg is a victim of the hubris of the 2016 campaign where everyone thought Hillary Clinton would win. She wanted to give the seat to Clinton and she lost that bet when Trump won.

someoneintx | July 17, 2020 at 1:47 pm

I’m sick of being told stories of questionable veracity and just being expected to accept them without proof.

So I call bullshiite.

I want to see video of her actually doing her court work. With it validated by people i still trust (Clarence Thomas or Alito would be ok. Kurt Schlichter would be preferable.)

I want to see that she is actually typing or dictating the words herself, and not some puppet-handler drafting it and using her auto-pen to sign it.

I want to see regular proof-of-life and proof-of-mental-faculty.

We deserve no less. And we have no reason to trust or believe anything less.

I’ve no great love for the woman. Or her judicial history. Regardless, she is one tough old bird.

While she has survived several cancer scares, she is a very frail woman. Much talk is about her daily exercise routine, 30 pushups, personal trainer, etc.

the video of the push ups was revealing. On her knees, push ups against a coffee table, The push ups were less strenous than the wall push ups i did 6 weeks after shoulder / rotator cuff repair.

    she is quite frail.

    “Death Becomes Her.”

Old Soldier | July 17, 2020 at 2:00 pm

Gemcitabine is a chemo drug used to combat pancreatic cancer, among others, according to Wiki. It is not a stretch to assume that RBG has had metastatic pancreatic cancer for some time. It spread to her liver, necessitating a bile duct stent, and further surgery to clear blockages. Her lungs have also been affected which explains the removal of “nodules” from her lungs last year. The PR release discusses “keeping my cancer at bay” which suggests it is inoperable.

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to Old Soldier. | July 17, 2020 at 2:50 pm

The PR release discusses “keeping my cancer at bay” which suggests it is inoperable.

And if that’s the case then she should either retire with at least some dignity intact(not likely with Trump still in the White House) or do everyone the favor and just die. Either one. It’s her choice.

Like the old Timex watch commercial: she takes a licking, and keeps on ticking.

Too bad she’s a betrayer of her oath of office.

Ginsburg comes out strongly in favor of the Court’s use of foreign and international law materials to interpret U.S. law, including the Constitution:
http://opiniojuris.org/2010/08/02/justice-ginsburg-on-using-foreign-and-international-law-in-constitutional-adjudication/

Her leaving the court would as as good for America as mccain’s leaving the Senate.

    alaskabob in reply to TheFineReport.com. | July 17, 2020 at 2:43 pm

She expressed great admiration for the South African constitution. Being White or Mixed in ZA makes today’s apartheid worse than that in the past. Same with the Soviet constitution… great on paper but not in practice.. which is what the Left prefers.

Bring out your dead…

CART MASTER: ‘Ere. He says he’s not dead!

CUSTOMER: Yes, he is.

DEAD PERSON: I’m not!

CART MASTER: He isn’t?

CUSTOMER: Well, he will be soon. He’s very ill.

Good luck to her, but is she viable?

She will make it through just fine, don’t worry.
One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them
One ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them

i swear this woman must have feline DNA. it’s the only thing that makes any sense.

Not quite sure what she is worried about. Does anyone think there are 51 Republicans with balls on hand who will vote anyone in to replace her before January 2021?? She has upheld her part of the bargain for Democrats…she has held on just long enough to give Democrats hope.

murkyv in reply to mailman. | July 17, 2020 at 8:12 pm

The Three Weak Sisters will make sure no nominee gets through before the election

    Collins, Murkowski and Romney

And likely, the Chair(man?) of the Senate Judiciary will be channeling his inner McCain and won’t hold the hearings

She’s back at work for weeks not months.

She will have the last laugh. One of her clerks was seen with a Chicago Voter Registration form signed by none other than RGB. She will live on in perpetuity.

we have a battle of two contemporaries to survive long enough… RBG and Rush. RGB to preserve the leftist agenda and Rush to preserve the Republic.

In the mid-1930’s R.J. Mitchell hung on long enough fighting cancer to see the Spitfire make it into reality as he saw the war clouds forming. I get the same feeling with Rush. Yes, having stand ins lowers listener levels and he is fighting for his life, but the intensity is there to see the battle for the republic through this election cycle. His prognosis is dim anyway one looks at it when dealing with advanced lung cancer. The stats are lousy to begin with and his initial treatment regimen apparently failed (clinical trial level!).

So the battle is joined…. for all the marbles this time… at many levels. As Victor Davis Hanson points out… this is a hinge point in history… world history.

If Biden wins and she makes it to Jan. 20th, the Dems will change the “standard” for what constitutes “life of a (Dem partisan) Assoc Justice”.

murkyv in reply to Sisu. | July 17, 2020 at 9:25 pm

California will still be accepting mail-in ballots on Jan 20 if it means padding the popular vote tally

The dems will let, nigh beg this old commie to hang on and continue to suffer for a hopeless cause based on an actual impossibility. That being that demwit bidet can win the White House or any of his hooless communist replacements can appoint her replacement. Not going to happen. So she should resign an go on hospice care as soon as possible for her on good. Again not going to happen so F her. Suffer, live your final days so drugged out of your pathetic mind that you’ll cease to exist as a human being. Die the way you lived as a selfish thoughtless animal only interested in your on immeadiate gratification.
