Anti-Kavanaugh Crusader Kirsten Gillibrand Dismisses Allegations Against Joe Biden

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) was a leading voice among Democrats during the Brett Kavanaugh hearings. The failed presidential candidate even insisted on an FBI investigation of the eventual Supreme Court Justice.

Like many of her Democrat colleagues, Gillibrand insisted that all women must be believed.

In the case of the allegations against Joe Biden, Gillibrand is satisfied that they are false.

Jonathan Easley reports at The Hill:

Gillibrand addresses Reade allegations: ‘I stand by Vice President Biden’Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) on Tuesday defended former Vice President Joe Biden after a reporter asked if she believed allegations from Tara Reade, a former aide who says the then-senator sexually assaulted her in a secluded part of Capitol Hill in 1993.Gillibrand, who ran for president last year, said she stood by the presumptive Democratic nominee and supported him, noting he had denied the allegations.“So when we say believe women, it’s for this explicit intention of making sure there’s space for all women to come forward to speak their truth, to be heard,” Gillibrand said during a conference call with reporters about the Postal Service.“And in this allegation, that is what Tara Reade has done. She has come forward, she has spoken, and they have done an investigation in several outlets. Those investigations, Vice President Biden has called for himself. Vice President Biden has vehemently denied these allegations, and I support Vice President Biden.”

What an astonishing change of attitude.

Zachary Evans of National Review provides this reminder:

Sen. Gillibrand, Who Suggested FBI Probe of Kavanaugh, Says She ‘Stands By’ Biden Following Sexual Assault AllegationsGillibrand in 2018 was one of the most vocal defenders of Christine Blasey Ford, who accused Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault during Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings. The New York senator argued that Ford should not be compelled to testify at the hearings without the benefit of witnesses and an investigation.“Without the benefit of an FBI investigation … and without the benefit of corroborating witnesses being able to testify, it’s a sham [confirmation] hearing,” Gillibrand said at the time.

Here’s another reminder:

Here’s Gillibrand giving an impassioned speech on the Senate floor in defense of Ford, during the Kavanaugh hearings:

It’s almost like it was all just about politics and power.

Democrats can’t have it both ways.

They set these rules. They can live by them.
