Senate Majority Leader Schumer picked a fight with the Supreme Court Wednesday.

While speaking at a pro-abortion event, Sen. Schumer threatened Justices Gorsuch an Kavanaugh, saying, “you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price! You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions!”

Which prompted Chief Justice Roberts to respond thusly:

Rather than leaving well enough alone, a spokesman from Schumer’s office accused Justice Roberts of taking Schumer’s remarks out of context (though I’m not sure how they figure that, they were plain enough), and of “following the right wing” in the process.

“You won’t know what hit you,” seems obvious enough especially as the SCOTUS is immune (mostly) from being outed through the course of an election. Any opportunity to activate the young, abortion-happy crowd recently angered by an 11th hour Biden resurgence, I suppose.

Will Roberts figure out that making decisions like he did on Obamacare will just invite more intimidation?

If Roberts were to keep faithful to the Constitution he might eventually find out that SCOTUS isn’t under attack constantly by elected Democrats and the Media.

    And he’s threatening them just before they rule on an abortion issue, specifically, whether it is constitutional for states to require abortionists to have privileges at a hospital, and other safety requirements.

        Such complete and utter bullshit for them to claim that Schumer’s words were taken “out of context.” Schumer threatened Gorsuch and Kavanaugh by name, and said that they would “pay the price.” He also said that “You will not know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”

        The unnamed Republican lawmakers (the people that Scummy Schumer is now trying to pretend that his statements were directed at) don’t write Supreme Court decisions. Kavanaugh and Gorsuch do. THAT’S the context.

        Schumer’s lame attempt at deflection is not going to work. Schumer directly and explicitly threatened two Supreme Court justices because he doesn’t like the way they vote in abortion cases before the court. Schumer’s threats are despicable and dangerous, and he should be expelled from the senate for this disgraceful conduct.

The video showing the self-satisfied look that crosses Schumers face is quite revealing. He knows exactly what he’s done; a call for violent action.

      I suspect it was indirectly targeted at Roberts. Gorsuch and Kavanaugh won’t likely change their votes, but Roberts is the man who said Obamacare is a tax but it is not a tax.

        Yes, it was. Roberts is the only justice whose vote is susceptible to being changed here. The lefty justices won’t vote to uphold any law that restricts abortion rights. Alito, Thomas, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh have all taken the position that the states should be free to impose reasonable restrictions. That leaves Roberts as the deciding vote. Roberts, who hates any suggestion that “his” court is political, is the one Schumer is really trying to influence here.

    I don’t think so. This was a personal threat to the individual justices, not to the institution. Chuckle knows exactly what he is doing—threatening the justices with retribution by Democrat brownshirts.

Though unmentioned, Schumer’s threat against Gorsuch and Kavanaugh would unleash an angry Twitter barrage the likes of which the Internet has never seen.

    Or, alternatively, some Socialist-Democrat crazy faithful members to decide if it was good enough for the Family Research Council and the GOP Baseball team practice, it should be good enough for Gorsuch and Kavanaugh.

This isn’t just about abortion. schumer knew he would draw the rebuke from CJR. schumer’s plan all along was to cry “BIAS” from the SCOTUS, in an effort to delegitimize all future rulings that are adverse to the left. democrats already pick and choose which laws they will or will not follow (immigration), this is an attempt to give them cover to ignore the SCOTUS, especially after rgb is replaced. The democrats are losing on every front and they know it. Get ready for their scorched earth campaign.

        I believe he has the same legal exposure you or I would have if we threatened SCOTUS or its members. And given his powerful position, his threat is more credible, not “letting off steam”.

        I do not believe this comment is protected by the “speech and debate” clause, because he was not on the Senate floor when he said it.

        No, he does not. Incitement means speech that is both (1) intended and (2) likely, to cause the listener to (3) immediately commit a crime. All three elements are necessary.

        Basically it’s speech that turns its audience temporarily into robots with no control over their own actions, such as when whipping up a mob’s emotions and turning them on someone, whereupon they harm that person without first having taken time to think it over and make their own decision.

You don’t suppose that Schmuck Schumer thinks that his unilaterally vapid spew of vomit, into the wind, in any manner might impair any justice?

Schmuck Schumer is NOT a party in interest in the matter before the court, lacks standing and, given his wanton, derelict and incredulous attempt to interfere in a legal matter beyond his reach should be roundly censored, castigated and removed from the Senate for his feckless disparagement of the judicial system.

Is Schumer really so stupid that he can’t tell the difference between a a criticism and a threat? No, he isn’t. But he thinks you are. If you don’t take political action to do something about it, you deserve the corruption of Schumer and the Swamp. Donate to, and work for, Republican Senate candidates this year. If we elect enough of them, even the shameless and corrupt Democrat Senators will see the need to do something about Schumer. Without his minority leader job, he is nothing but a disgusting joke.

      Besides threatening them specifically, it could also be what Leslie said, because any judge who will be considered for the next open SCOTUS seat during a Trump administration (if there is one) knows what Gorsuch and especially Kavanaugh were put through and continue to endure (along with their families) and know that they will be next.

      If that judge replaces Ginsberg, he or she is especially going to get it since it won’t be a one-for-one ideological swap.

    That takes 2/3 of the senate, which isn’t happening. But even if it did Cuomo would probably appoint him to the vacant seat, or he’d run at the next election and be back.

      Doesn’t the Senate have the right to determine if an elected/appointed Senator may be seated? (I vaguely remember that somewhere) Even if not, it would be an interesting exercise to see how many times Schumer could be expelled from the Senate before common sense (or sanity) prevails, and they send somebody else.

      My money would be on three expulsions, the last one taking ten minutes, tops.

        No, the senate cannot refuse to seat a duly elected or appointed member. If there’s any doubt whether the person was duly elected or appointed, or whether they meet the constitutional qualifications, then the senate can decide that. But where there’s no doubt it must seat him.

        And both houses of congress have a very long-standing position that their power to expel members only applies to offenses committed since the members was last elected. The Supreme Court has not endorsed this view, but it has taken official notice of the fact that this is what successive congresses have believed for well over a century, and that they’re unlikely to stop believing it now.

Trump’s comment was much different from Schumer’s. Anyone can criticize the rulings or even competence of SCOTUS justices. We can’t remove them, but we can criticize them.

Let me assure you that by 0900 tomorrow morning, Senator Scott (R-SC) and Senator Graham (R-SC) –aka Sweet Lindsey—will have heard from me. I will request, without equivocation, that they introduce a motion to CENSURE Senator Schumer. Let’s just see if they have any balls. My guess is that they don’t.

Schumer’s statement was an open invitation to the violent leftists and anarchists to target the justices, their families, and their homes. The correct response is to force his resignation which will signal those same forces that we are ready for them.

Trump must be over the target to get him so unhinged. His little SDNY team jig is up. Something tells me that SDNY is going down and Chuckles is going to be crashed by it.

Schumer just proved himself to be…(wait for it) …..Deplorable. See Crooked Hilary, Schumer is what the word “deplorable” means. It doesn’t just mean people who vote against you.

I assumed his threat was that Gorsuch and Kavanaugh would be impeached and removed, after the Dems take the senate back in a landslide. He knows that’s not going to happen, of course, but he meant to rile up the crowd.

Having slept on it, I have a new take: This is about the Democratic Primary.

1) The Democrats are divided and turning on one another.
2) Biden’s just won a round, and Sanders needs to start attacking him to have a chance to win.
3) Nothing brings people together like a common enemy.

so 4) Chuck Schumer picks a big, public fight where every Democrat will be rabidly on his side:
4a. It’s abortion, the holy sacrament.
4b. It’s the two judges who they think are illegitimate anyway. (Garland and Ford)

now 5) Democrats have a common enemy to rail against, creating instant party unity.
and 6) If Sanders tries to start a new line of attack against Biden, it will reenforce the impression that he’s not a team player for the Democrats.

Ugly. And worst of all, I expect it will work.

Schumer reminds me of the Democrats of old where these kind of threats might be followed by a visit from the KKK. Threats, intimidation, and violence are part of the Democrat Party tradition, supplemented by voter fraud and lies of course.

I grew up in a place littered with billboards saying Impeach Earl Warren.

So I’m familiar with Democrats who are unhappy with the Supreme Court.
