Doctors hospitalized him after he suffered chest pain.

From CNBC:

In a statement Wednesday, the senator’s advisor Jeff Weaver said Sanders “experienced some chest discomfort” during a Tuesday event. Testing found a “blockage in one artery,” and Sanders had two stents inserted, Weaver saaid [sic].

I hope they sent him to Cuba in time for first-class surgery.

thalesofmiletus | October 2, 2019 at 11:12 am

“Get well soon”

The usual doctor’s orders following this procedure are, lose weight, stop smoking and get plenty of rest. Bernie is through and this will give him a face-saving way out. I hope he regains his health to fight another day.

I wonder if there’s a problem with the plan of sending a busload of nursing home candidates on stress filled national tours that would physically challenge men and women who were half their age.

Too bad there’s not a surgery for brain blockage. Our country would benefit immensely in the 2020 election cycle.

American Human | October 2, 2019 at 11:20 am

They said he was “conversing”. Most likely he was “shouting”.

At the top of his lungs and the grumpy ole Communist phart can yell,he never needed a microphone to be heard in the Flynn theater.

Well, Crazy now was the time to prove your rationed healthcare is the way of the future. However, you went to a hospital that cared for you. Not what your rationed system would give someone of your advanced age.

    TX-rifraph in reply to 2smartforlibs. | October 2, 2019 at 11:26 am

Bernie would receive the “ruling elite” healthcare, not the stuff you or I would receive in his socialist paradise.

    Observer in reply to 2smartforlibs. | October 2, 2019 at 2:54 pm

Yeah, why is a 78-year old getting expensive heart surgery? He should have been given a pain pill and sent home to die. (Right Barry, right Dr. Emanuel?).

But we all know that that is what these Dims propose for us nasty deplorables, not for themselves.

Rough crowd here!

He’s making way for the obvious place-holder: Lieawatha. Then, Mrs. Clinton will ride to the rescue at the convention.

Heh. Someone is not a fan of some comments here.

BTW, Twitchy has up on their main page a bit on this saying “Update: Cancelling ad buy in Iowa”. But when you go the link it doesn’t show an update, nor any information about cancelling his ad buy (which was just yesterday).

GWB in reply to GWB. | October 2, 2019 at 1:54 pm

And they’ve now updated their post to include tweets saying Bernie *HAS* canceled his Iowa ad buy that was supposed to start tomorrow.

Saving his $$$ to help with the purchase of his new home in Las Vegas. It’s supposed to have a large green lawn with statues of all his hero’s.

I’am the same age as him, in perfect health and my life style is very different.
I exercise my body not my mouth.

I had a stent put in my major coronary artery when I was 65, and I feel much better and healthier now. Don’t see why this should slow him down.

UnCivilServant in reply to JR. | October 2, 2019 at 11:40 am

How soon were you up and about after they put it in? I’ve known a couple of people who needed stents. While they did much better, they still needed recuperation time and were advised to work their way back to normal activity.

Running for president is high stress, and not the best thing for a recent heart patient to do.

MrE in reply to JR. | October 2, 2019 at 1:31 pm

I too had a stent 2 years ago and feel much better. However, that first year in recovery I took 2 meds; one to slow/destress my heart the other to thin my blood. Together they sapped my energy, made me dizzy and chronically short of breath.

If Bernie resists meds because of the wearisome side effects, at least the way I understand it, he might clot up his stent(s) and will be worse off than before. If he’s smart, he’ll drop out.

      tom_swift in reply to MrE. | October 2, 2019 at 2:01 pm

I was majorly zoned out for two years after starting coronary medications. I’ve since recovered, but it can be seriously debilitating for a while. But when you already don’t smoke or drink, aren’t seriously overweight and actually get some exercise, they’ve run out of things to tell you to do or not do, so they have to resort to drugs. Twenty years later I’m still on the meds.

Sorry to hear that. One I took was Coreg? And Plavix? Thankfully off of them now. Had to go off of them to have a couple of surgeries I postponed during the year after the heart attack. No surgeon would even look at me while on that stuff.

      Gremlin1974 in reply to MrE. | October 2, 2019 at 2:23 pm

We actually have medicated stents now that help prevent clotting. So sometimes people go with out medications or medications for a limited time after “simple” stent procedures.

Another reason why he is not a viable candidate.

What set of millionaires and billionaires funded the research to develop and improve his stents? Those in Venezuela and Moscow? How do the socialists know the two percent they want to confiscate won’t destroy just that category of medical lagniappe which developed stents?

Nobody deserves a stent-flavored heart except to the extent that he participates in a capitalist system. Bernie accidentally got himself born here in a country whose capitalist system he detests. And in that capitalist sense it is serendipity free, serendipity available not only to Western hearts, but also other hearts, the black-flavored who burn with envy at what the West has accomplished.

Under Obama’s treatment it would be “take a (THE) pill and “cure” the illness. Important lesson in medicine.. “All bleeding eventually ends, all disease is self-limiting”.

MajorWood in reply to alaskabob. | October 2, 2019 at 12:16 pm

You never want to be the person who states in rounds that “the bleeding wouldn’t stop.” It is at that point that the person in charge says “no, all bleeding eventually stops. What you meant to say was “we” couldn’t stop the bleeding.”

Maybe to promote his single-payer health care ideas, he can tell us how many of his houses he had to sell to pay for it.

The procedure to have a stent (I had one about twelve years ago now, as a result of stress associated with my wife of 26 years having an affair and leaving me and our kids) is pretty amazing. You are not even sedated. They make an incision in your thigh, run a tube up to your heart, inject some dye, and whoosh–there pops your heart and surrounding veins up on to the screens surrounding your operating table. Even I could see, without anyone telling me, where the blockage was. Then they run a second tube up to the blockage, place the stent, and you are done. They only kept me overnight to make sure the incision in my leg didn’t reopen. Whole procedure took less than 10 minutes. Truly a miracle of modern medicine. (And I have been heart trouble free ever since!)

    tom_swift in reply to Wisewerds. | October 2, 2019 at 2:08 pm

They go in your wrist now. Much easier, no more overnight stays.

(And I have been heart trouble free ever since!)

I was able to say the same . . . until heart attack #2 came along.

With proper blood flow and with it oxygen to the brain, he might get a clue and realize everything he believes is nonsense. Nahhh!

johnny dollar | October 2, 2019 at 12:38 pm

I was hoping, against all logic, that he would get the nomination.
That would guarantee at least 40 states for Trump in the general election.
Oh well, another dream crushed !

Barry Soetoro | October 2, 2019 at 12:43 pm

Time for Bernie, for the good of the collective and the planet, to transition to Soylent Green.

taxpayer funded health insurance too…..

A question for the doctors in the house: will restoring blood flow to his brain turn him into a conservative?

buckeyeminuteman | October 2, 2019 at 1:26 pm

He should have gone to Cuba instead. Somebody once told me their socialized medicine is so much better down there.

This is known as a heart attack, correct? Why is no one calling it a heart attack?

    funny how that works huh?
if this was trump or any gop member headlines would scream so and so had a heart attack.
yet….no headlines I have seen (out of MANY today) say that.

    Gremlin1974 in reply to NotCoach. | October 2, 2019 at 2:19 pm

Yes, it is a Heart Attack, medical term Myocardial Infarction.

While it is true that you can have a blockage without damaging heart muscle, which is the real measure of a “heart attack”, it is highly unlikely that a man of his age with multiple blockages didn’t have some kind of heart muscle damage.

What most people consider a “heart attack” is someone grabbing their chest or arm and falling down. The reality is the people who have that level of heart attack rarely survive. It the Infarction is sever enough to knock you unconscious then your chances of survival are slim.

Most people who have survivable heart attacks are still walking around, many don’t even know they had a heart attack until days after. My grandmother had a heart attack that required 5 bypasses. When she finally let someone know the doctors estimated that she had actually had the attack somewhere between 7 and 10 days before she went to the hospital. Her symptoms were shortness of breath after walking short distances, increased tiredness, and no appetite. She never once had chest pain that she reported.

His campaign is doing the political thing and not using terms that could cause supporters and more importantly donors to abandon him like “heart attack” and Myocardial Infarction”.

However, with the cancellation of events I would say that someone sees the writing on the wall.

If by some miracle Bernie does get the nomination, he will have no shortage of volunteers for the VP slot.

Hope he has obamacare.

But we know the corrupt bastard is exempt, as is the rest of scum infesting congress:

Congress and staff get theirs through the ACA exchange. Subsidized and gold plan, of course.

    https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2017/04/12/523335954/what-happens-to-a-congressmans-health-insurance-if-obamacare-goes-down

What type of insurance do our elected representatives in Washington, D.C., have? Is it true that they’re insured on the ACA exchanges now and that any repeal and replacement will affect them too?

Under the Affordable Care Act, members of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Senate and their office staffs who want employer coverage generally have to buy it on the health insurance exchange. Before the ACA passed in 2010, they were eligible to be covered under the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program. (People working for congressional committees who are not on a member’s office staff may still be covered under FEHBP.)

The members of Congress and their staffs choose from among 57 gold plans from four insurers sold on the DC Health Link’s small business marketplace this year.

Approximately 11,000 are enrolled, according to Adam Hudson, a spokesperson for the exchange. The government pays about three-quarters of the cost of the premium, and workers pay the rest. They aren’t eligible for federal tax credits that reduce the size of insurance premiums.

May he receive that exact level of care that he wishes to inflict upon the people of this nation.

So lets see, 78 years old, doesn’t actually contribute anything (i.e. politician), so wonder how that would go over in his (no) healthcare for all?

It’s a good month for Fauxcahontas and POTUS. Fauxcahontas sticks a Ukrainian shiv into Dirty Joe Biden, and, Comrade Sanders demonstrates that, in addition to being ideologically unqualified to be President, he is physiologically unqualified, as well.

Meanwhile, POTUS gets to face Crone Hillary 2.0 in the form of the similarly-miserable, mendacious, self-serving, imperially arrogant, hectoring scold/shrew/termagant, the odious wrinkled crone and permanent nag, Fauxcahontas.

There can only be one nominee.

First Biden falls, and now Bernie.

I didn’t even know that American Indians practiced Voodoo.

Angina isn’t the same thing as a heart attack, though it can be a precursor. https://www.heart.org/en/health-topics/heart-attack/angina-chest-pain

An old man, let’s call him Bernie, married late in life. His new wife was also quite old.

    They honeymooned in Moscow.

Their first night together as husband and wife they were on the hotel bed playing around with each other.

Jean took off Bernie’s shirt and Bernie unbuttoned Jean’s blouse.

As Bernie unbuttoned Jeans pants — she wore pants because she dressed like a proletariate type — She said, “Bernie, stop! Hold on a second.”

    “What’s wrong, “Honey?”

“I have something I must admit before we go any further.”

“What is it, Honey? You know you can tell me anything.”

    “I have acute angina.”

The worried concern disappeared from Bernie’s face. He said, “Oh, thank goodness. For a second there I was getting really worried. When I took off your blouse I was thinking, Man, those tits of hers are sure ugly.

No apology, I hate communists. They murdered 100+ million people in the last 60-70 years.

Bernie is a communist. I wish him ill, and dead.
