With Bread Line Bernie rising, expect Michelle-mentum

We’ve been arguing for almost a year and a half that the Democratic field, with its angry, socialist and unlikable candidates, will end with Democrats begging and pleading for Michelle Obama to run to save the nation from four more years of Trump.

Most recently I wrote how Michelle Obama’s Grammys Buzz – A reminder of the mediocrity of Democrat presidential candidates:

I’ve long predicted that the point would come when Democrats, frustrated and forlorn at the mediocre qualities of their primary candidates, would search for a salvation candidate.Think about who have declared so far: Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Amy from Minnesota, Kirsten Gillibrand — all second tier politicians who will pick up the anti-Trump vote just by being Democrats, but not much more. Tulsi Gabbard is a new face nationally, but has too much Assad baggage. Julian Castro is the guy who had less responsibility as Mayor of San Antonio than Sarah Palin had as the Mayor of Wasilla.Think about who might enter the race: Joe Biden and Bernie? A smoocher and a socialist. Great. Actually, not great. Beto could generate some excitement, but he seems to be using campaigning as emotional therapy, not good. Bloomberg wants to take away your Big Gulps — yeah, that should work.If I were a Democrat looking at the present and future field of candidates, I’d be in a complete panic even though the general election is over 20 months away. Wishing for a Trump collapse is not a mature electoral strategy.Which gets me to the non-candidate candidate who has been playing her cards just right to set herself up to save the Democrat Party without having to dirty her hands in this early electoral season scrum. You heard me right: Michelle Obama is the Democrat 2020 frontrunner, even if she doesn’t want to be….

Now add into the mix Bernie Sanders’ impressive campaign announcement fundraising, where he blew by all the other contenders by multiples.

Bernie, written off by many this cycle, still seems to have the Bernie bros and gals behind him, the mojo. He is going to have legs and foot soldiers, and he has the experience of having run a national primary.

As Bernie rises, and the others disappoint, the likelihood of a Michelle Obama National Salvation Campaign rises. Are the Democrats really going to run Bernie against Trump? I think the Democrat establishment, which still pulls a lot of strings, is not going to allow that.

They will turn to Michelle, possibly as late as the convention itself, argued Rush Limbaugh yesterday:

Well, lo and behold, I have here a story in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers that is from TheHill.com — ready for this? — dadelut dadelut dadelut – “Michelle Obama would be tied with Biden as the frontrunner if she ran in 2020 according to a Hill Harris poll.” So here I am again cracking a joke about the Democrat frontrunner being Biden, and he is, in this poll! And that if Michelle Obama got involved, she would be tied with him……. the Drive-By Media treat [the Obamas] like they are unique and special and unrivaled, that nobody compares to them…. Now, Michelle Obama’s benefiting the same way Colin Powell did. She has not announced. Colin Powell, when he had not announced, 70% approval. The moment he announced and identified as a Republican — ha-ha-ha-ha – it was over for him. She’ll announce as a Democrat. But they’re hoping and praying. So there’s 22 now in the Democrat field.

Today Rush repeated the focus on Michelle:

… I think they want back in. I think Obama wants back in. He can’t go back in. So how does Obama get back in? Very easy: Michelle (My Belle) Obama. I think what they’re doing is putting together her campaign. They’re strategizing how to limit the field, how to do damage to all those people in the field, and the right time for her to enter the field. That book of hers was the pretext; it was stage one….The fact that you can still walk through airports… This book is now three, four months old, and it’s still the most prominently displayed book in stores in a lot of places. I think they want back in. I don’t think they got anywhere near the taste of power that they want. And I think Trump’s presidency, Trump winning, has discombobulated these people in ways that we haven’t even factored yet. And I think Michelle may be the candidate, and she may end up thinking she’s gonna actually be president, but it’s old Barack who wants back in there — and I think that’s what’s happening here.

Fear of a national electoral college blowout will drive the thinking of Democrats. Are they going to risk four more years of Trump and losing the House with Bernie at the top of the ticket?

Video just emerged of Bernie praising Castro and Daniel Ortega — that won’t hurt him with Democrats. But here’s what they should worry about, Bernie praised bread lines as a benefit of Socialism:

“You know, it’s funny. Sometimes American journalists talk about how bad a country is when people are lining up for food. That’s a good thing. In other countries, people don’t line up for food. The rich get the food and the poor starve to death.”

Americans will vote for a far-left ideologue (they did so twice in 2008 and 2012).

But Americans are not going to vote for bread lines. And the Democrat establishment knows it, and will not let Bernie be the nominee.

But how to steal another primary election from Bernie without completely fracturing the party? Bring back the Obamas, who are playing coy but may want back in.
