Kamala Harris on 2020: “Over the holiday, I will make that decision”

Midterms are over, so it’s time for Democrat presidential hopefuls to eye the 2020 presidential election.  Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) is the latest to announce her plans to make a decision about running for the Democrat nomination.

At the Know Your Value conference in San Francisco, Harris told co-host Mika Brzezinski that deciding to run is a “very serious decision”:  “Over the holiday, I will make that decision with my family.”

NBC News reports:

Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris of California announced on Saturday that she will make a decision about whether she will launch a presidential bid in 2020 by the end of this year.“It’s a very serious decision,” Harris told “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski during an onstage conversation at the Know Your Value conference in San Francisco. “Over the holiday, I will make that decision with my family.”Harris, whose husband joined her in the audience, said she is keenly aware of the challenges a barrier-breaking campaign will entail.“Let’s be honest. It’s going to be ugly,” Harris said. “When you break things, it is painful. And you get cut. And you bleed.”

Last month, Morning Consult/Politico published its latest 2020 Democratic Presidential Primary poll results and show Harris as the fifth choice among those polled.

Politico reports:

Harris recently ranked fifth in a November POLITICO/Morning Consult poll of Democratic voters’ preferred nominee to take on President Donald Trump’s reelection bid. Former Vice President Joe Biden came in first place, followed by Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, respectively.POLITICO previously reported that Harris sent $25,000 to the Democratic parties in four early nominating states: Iowa, South Carolina, Nevada and New Hampshire. In October, she visited Iowa, South Carolina and Wisconsin to campaign for Democratic candidates ahead of the midterm elections.

She’s running, but the field will be crowded. If Michelle Obama is recruited by Democrats to run, Harris will be crowded off the field before she even gets started.
