REPORT: Dr. Ford’s Friend Leland Keyser Allegedly Felt Pressured by Ford Allies to Change Her Statement

REPORT: Dr. Ford’s Friend Leland Keyser Allegedly Felt Pressured by Ford Allies to Change Her Statement

“felt pressured by Dr. Ford’s allies to revisit her initial statement that she knew nothing about an alleged sexual assault by a teenage Brett Kavanaugh, which she later updated to say that she believed but couldn’t corroborate Dr. Ford’s account, according to people familiar with the matter,” according to the Wall Street Journal

Late Thursday night, the Wall Street Journal reported that Leland Keyser, a friend of Dr. Fords, “felt pressured by Dr. Ford’s allies to revisit her initial statement that she knew nothing about an alleged sexual assault by a teenage Brett Kavanaugh, which she later updated to say that she believed but couldn’t corroborate Dr. Ford’s account, according to people familiar with the matter.”

From the WSJ:

On Thursday, a day after sending to the White House the report on its investigation into the allegations against Judge Kavanaugh, the FBI sent the White House and Senate an additional package of information that included text messages from Ms. McLean to Ms. Keyser, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Ms. McLean’s lawyer, David Laufman, said in a statement: “Any notion or claim that Ms. McLean pressured Leland Keyser to alter Ms. Keyser’s account of what she recalled concerning the alleged incident between Dr. Ford and Brett Kavanaugh is absolutely false.”

Ms. Keyser’s lawyer on Sept. 23 said in a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee that she had no recollection of attending a party with Judge Kavanaugh, whom she said she didn’t know. That same day, however, she told the Washington Post that she believed Dr. Ford. On Sept. 29, two days after Dr. Ford and the judge testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Ms. Keyser’s attorney sent a letter to the panel saying his client wasn’t refuting Dr. Ford’s account and that she believed it but couldn’t corroborate it.

A person close to the former classmates said it was her understanding that mutual friends of Dr. Ford and Ms. Keyser, including Ms. McLean, had contacted Ms. Keyser after her initial statement to warn her that her statement was being used by Republicans to rebut the allegation against Judge Kavanaugh. The friends told Ms. Keyser that if she had intended to say she didn’t remember the party—not that it had never happened—that she should clarify her statement, the person said, adding that the friends hadn’t “pressured” Ms. Keyser.

Monica McLean, a former FBI agent, and by some accounts, Dr. Ford’s “lifelong best friend” is the individual whom Ford allegedly coached prior to taking a polygraph test. During her testimony before the Judiciary Committee, Ford claimed she’d never “given tips or advice to somebody who was looking to take a polygraph test.”

When Keyser was brought up during Ford’s public hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Ford attempted to politely discredit Keyser’s doubts by saying she has health problems.

Comments

You’ve got 2 articles on the same thing. Surely you can merge them in to one just to keep all the comments together??

Secondly this is all coming crashing down around the Democrats feet! They were so desperate to stop this nomination that they were willing to create a massive lie then lie to support it!

I don’t think they quite understood the problem with creating a big lie, especially one that involves quite so many people who would need to cooperate to prop that lie up.

As far as I can tell exactly no one has supported this so called “victim”.

Once Republicans have a rock solid Senate majority and Trump replaces Sessions with a real AG all these people who lied to bring this lie to life need to be made to pay a heavy price! BUT you will only get that if the Republican voters turn out!!

I always felt Sessions sounded like a bumbling fool but I convinced myself it was just his different speech patterns. He is a bumbling fool totally controlled by Rod Rosenstein.

No one likes a micromanager…especially one that is not actually in charge.

Other than that, I agree with what you said.

Mailman, I’m sure the Demoncrats thought that Judge Kavenaugh’s nomination would be pulled, or that he would withdraw himself before a “real, live” witness was required.

I’m also convinced that when that did not happen, that the Dems had to have more and more days delay – so they could “manufacture” the Fake Christine Ford and program (coach and practice) her for days in the BIG LIES.

Did she alter her account, or did she alter her spin of her account via her attorney?

And yes, I’ve heard a lot about this McLean and her illustrious past, but I take such things with a grain of salt pending more evidence. I don’t change my spots on that easily.

Does it matter? I’m asking for information.

It seems that Manafort was put in solitary confinement just for contacting potential witnesses.

What we have here is the claim that attorneys for Ford asked Keyser to change her testimony.

Apparently she did, even though it was just a change to the spin.

McLean is an attorney. But from what I can tell she does not represent Ford.

McLean also happens to be a former FBI agent who resigned shortly after Trump won the election. She’s a partisan.

She also happened to live in NY where she worked alongside Preet Bahararaha at SDNY. Ford traveled to McLean’s house at the end of July so she could write her accusation letter under the watchful eye of her connected FBI lifelong friend and former roomate.

      No, you don’t understand.

In the “new justice” system, all that is required is an allegation. No need for evidence or corroborating testimony. To be accused is to be guilty.

This the brave new world we face, courtesy of the left. The ride will get very bumpy from this point.

I think the FBI Reports interview shows witness tampering by McClean. Fords pal.

amwick in reply to Elzorro. | October 5, 2018 at 6:58 am

I think the FBI has actual text messages from McLean to Ford. This is pretty interesting, text messages! An interview you can dance around.

She went on one or two of the MSM channels that love to bash Trump and said her attorney misinterpreted her original statement in drafting her letter and that she couldn’t corroborate but she does believe Ford. Of course, this wasn’t under oath.

The little piece of info in this LI article is probably the least surprising thing to come out of the whole debacle.

She acted out of self-defense. The fact she didn’t make up anything on top of that is something I give her credit for, given her vulnerable condition. Having protesters outside her house would not go well for her.

said in a letter . . . that she had no recollection of attending a party

. . .

The friends told Ms. Keyser that if she had intended to say she didn’t remember the party . . . that she should clarify her statement

So, “having no recollection” and “didn’t remember” are different?

I always thought that “having no recollection” is the way the lawyer—the one you’re paying to make your denials for you—makes an ordinary “don’t remember” sound a bit more Perry Mason-ish . . . but it still means the same thing. Or am I overlooking some fundamental principle of American jurisprudence?

It’s a change in PR, one that had tangible benefits for the Ford camp. They’re trying to wiggle out of the notion that the “friends” involved pressured a potential federal witness to make a substantive change to what she would state to the FBI. Maybe they can, maybe they can’t. It’s ironic this is even an issue. The only reason it is at all? The FBI.

The Hillary scam I Can’t recall is the standard scheme.

So now that the dust is settling, they are moving on to the various muck they uncovered:

-Pressuring a named witness to change her story
-Text messages sent between two friends – one being the named witness
-A friend who worked for the FBI who was coached by Ford on how to take a poly
-Other lies under penalty of perjury being uncovered

Yeah. They are NOT going to let this go lightly. Dems wanted an investigation…..and now, they’re going to get one!

I don’t fault Jeff Sessions on this one – yet. He was foolish to recuse himself from the Meuller witch hunt, but this he could pursue, and win.

Problem is, as always, the MSM. They will portray this as the “evil white male cabal” attacking the helpless, weak, innocent “victim”…….aka “the #MeToo narrative.”

I sure wish they would publish those text messages, and any other things they’ve discovered. In the name of transparency and all.

Kemberlee, thanks for posting overnight!

There needs to be an investigation into Ford. Pull out all the stops.

I don’t believe her. I see someone who put on phony vocals for effect, who is manipulative, who is a liberal activist. The time line of her first reporting any of this was when his name was floated for SCOTUS and Romney was having huge turn out at his rallies. She is involved with psychology, and knows full well how play mental games.

The whole testimony was vague, which looks to be on purpose. The mention of medical treatment was meant to seem like she had it at the time she alleged the attack, when that was not true. I don’t buy it that she didn’t know of the Senate offer to go to her, it was in the news and she was likely devouring papers to see all she was doing in a psychological sense. Her allegations evolved to fit as best they could to cover holes that were talked about.

The demands designed to delay. The demand for an FBI investigation, and low and behold she has a friend who knows how the FBI investigates, what they do and don’t do. She worked with her FBI friend to put together the first letter, yet claimed to not knowing how to get the information to the committee when it was very clear who was the head of the committee. Instead she goes through the Democrats because she knows it will be political.

She threw her friend under the bus as quickly as possible when she didn’t back up her story. We are supposed to believe that her messages to her friend weren’t designed to pressure her old friend to change her testimony? Ford is manipulative, a psychologist who had a paper out there on how to create false memories. Her social media was scrubbed, but so was all Google ties to her, her class schedules, her papers, everything. Google is a known liberal operation, and given the politics and heavy hitters she enlisted through Feinstein could easily have worked with higher ups in Google, or used those interns she housed from Google who would be higher up with plenty of access to manipulate scrubbing her from searches.

The trouble is how credible would the FBI be in an investigation of Ford given the crap we have learned about them having been weaponized by Obama? The DOJ is a shambles.

Each of the claims pushed against Kavanaugh were further out there. Just like was done with Moore, they piled on, and it didn’t matter if they wouldn’t stand up in court of law, this was using the media as a propaganda machine. Schumer said he would stop this nomination through any means possible. The corrupt Democratic Party planned using these allegations in an effort to force Kavanaugh to withdraw. He didn’t. They thought Trump would weaken and withdraw his name. He didn’t. They expected the Republican RINOs to remove their support. They didn’t, though they gave it a flirt.

If criminal investigations into Ford and those in the DNC who helped push this and manipulate this smear job doesn’t happen, then we have lost the rule of law. If it can be proven that Kavanaugh did what Ford accused him of, then he would be removed.

There are plenty of men who were convicted of sexual crimes that were later overturned on solid evidence. DNA found many of them to be innocent, yet their lives were ruined. Some women are liars, and far too good at it, using their genders as a shield.

I don’t believe her. I have zero faith in the Democrats to play honestly.

Ford surely wouldn’t be any friend of mine after this!
But then again, she would not have been in the first place.

…On Thursday, a day after sending to the White House the report on its investigation into the allegations against Judge Kavanaugh, the FBI sent the White House and Senate an additional package of information that included text messages from Ms. McLean to Ms. Keyser, according to a person familiar with the matter…

“Additional package of information”… this information was uncovered during the FBI investigation.

Trump authorized the FBI investigation at the request of Sen. Flake.

Trump “expanded” the initial investigation.

TRUMP has known about the text messages between Ms. McLean and Ms. Keyser all along. PRISM

So pic of Ford preparing to testify shows Mclean directly to right of Ford. Grand plot to destroy Kavanaugh worked up until now. Need to connect dots between the cabal and Dems on committee. That said, just how much Intel power the U.S. Gov has is scary….good here but imagine in hands of THEM!

LOL. Looks like that 7th FBI investigation wasn’t such a good idea for the Dims after all.

I hope somebody goes to jail over this disgusting ploy.

“One ugly incident noted by The Daily Mail was an open letter that targeted Keyser using the death of her boyfriend to try to guilt her into corroborating Ford’s claim:

The letter, written by Sara Corcoran, publisher of National Courts Monitor who knew Keyser in her youth, recalled the day in July 1988 when Keyser’s boyfriend dived into the shallow end of the swimming pool at Columbia Country Club. He broke his neck and died.

Corcoran wrote: ‘I remember how you suffered…. sometimes it seems like it is easier to remain silent, but I also feel you know where the house was and who was there.’

She stated: ‘There was nothing you could have done to save Bill from the fate that awaited him, but you can save Christine.’”

Ford is a liar and something should be made of that. The Republicans are pointing to the FBI report and staying with the “both sides were wronged,” gambit. That is the kind of weaselly, half-stepping that pisses people off. Ford is a liar who has been found lying about the genesis of her found memories of the Kavanaugh outrage. LYING UNDER OATH!!! Quit pretending, Republican Senators, treat Ford the way democrats would treat a Republican woman caught lying to the Senate. Hey, everyone knows what happened and everyone knows that you know what happened and if you keep playing along with this charade instead of calling it what it is, it makes you look weak, silly, and unfit to serve.
