Monday, Georgia’s Senate blocked a lucrative fuel tax break designed to help Delta after the airline caved to the online mob and scrapped discounts for NRA members.

Legislators promised to hold firm unless Delta reinstated their relationship with the NRA.

Thursday, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reported the Georgia Senate passed the tax cut bill without any concessions for Delta:

The Georgia Senate Thursday overwhelmingly passed a state tax cut bill shorn of a tax exemption on purchases of jet fuel that would primarily benefit Delta Air Lines Inc.

As they say, actions have consequences.

Paybacks are a mother…

Color me surprised. I figured it was candidates spouting off as it wouldn’t have enough juice to get by the growing dimmocrats in the senate.

At some future point I believe Delta will get it’s tax break. But, a message has been sent.

You gotta wonder what is going on in the Marketing & Promotions department at Delta. They may have truly been trying to get themselves neutral, but wow, this is an expensive backfire – SEC notification worthy backfire.

There is a certain satisfaction I have that Delta got slapped. But I worry about the state of things when a) Governments are giving huge perpetual tax breaks like this to companies to begin with, and b) the Government uses said tax break as a whip when the company does something they don’t like. This is not a good thing.

Hey Delta,
I’m still waiting for you to issue your position statement on abortion.
