The internet went wild with mockery:
The candy bar that Barghouti is seen wolfing down was clearly identifiable to any Israeli by its shiny green wrapper. It was Tortit, the Israeli chocolate-coated waffle with thin layers of almond cream, which has been on the market since 1975. The non-dairy snack, popular with vegans, is a familiar and nostalgic brand with a retro image – like Snickers in the United States.
There are reports in the Israeli media that the video has broken the hunger strike, with many prisoners abandoning:

The internet mockery of Barghouti may have reached its zenith when Pizza Hut ran an ad mocking Barghouti, showing a pizza box on the floor of his cell as he furtively ate on camera. The Times of Israel reports:
Pizza Hut’s franchise in Israel on Monday released an ad poking fun at Palestinian hunger strike leader Marwan Barghouti following the recent release of video footage showing him secretly eating a candy bar and cookies in his prison cell.The ad drew widespread criticism from Palestinians and a call to boycott the chain, which issued a quick apology.
In the ad, which it posted on its Facebook page and later deleted, the pizza chain put a banner in Hebrew over a screenshot from a clip released by the Israel Prisons Service on Sunday of Barghouti eating. It read, “Barghouti, if you are already going to break the hunger strike, isn’t pizza better?”The ad also included a photoshopped Pizza Hut box on the floor of the prison cell, as well as a piece of pizza in the sink.
The anti-Zionist Mondoweiss website, which supports the destruction of Israel is outraged, calling it “grotesque” that Israel won’t just stand aside and let Barghouti refuse to eat:
Israel has plunged into unfathomable depths of cynicism and callousness, in its mockery-campaign targeting hunger strike leader Marwan Barghouti for supposedly eating a cookie and a wafer in his prison cell toilet cubicle.
Not quite as grotesque as Barghouti’s role in the murder of five Israelis during the Second Intifada, for which he is serving five life sentences.
