Poll: Majority think Press too critical of Trump, as optimism rises
Media declared war on Trump, but he seems to be winning the battle for public opinion.
The mainstream media is in open warfare with Trump.
Trump is returning the favor.
Who’s winning in the battle for public opinion?
According to a WSJ/NBC News poll released today, Trump is winning.
A majority of Americans believe news organizations are too critical of President Trump, according to a Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll released Sunday.
Fifty-one percent of Americans said the media is too critical of Trump, while 41 percent think news organizations have been fair and objective.
The poll also found that Americans are becoming more optimistic about where the country is headed, with 40 percent saying it is headed in the right direction. In December, 33 percent felt that way, compared to 18 percent in July.
Considering that the media is the main opposition party, this is a significant finding as it comes after a month of furious media attacks on every single aspect of the Trump administration. While polling as to who is more trustworthy is mixed (see here and here), clearly the public views the media’s attacks on Trump as biased and unfair.
The poll also finds that Trump’s approval rating is only 44%, low for a new president. Most of the concern comes from his temperament — but the base is sticking with him:
But despite his historically underwater public popularity, the survey also shows that his support from Republicans remains robust and that the public’s overall views of him are relatively stable. He has maintained the loyalty of his party both on his policy proposals and on his ongoing warfare with the mainstream media, and a majority of Americans believe that he will follow through on his promises of change.
His personal favorability rating – 43 percent positive and 47 percent negative – is stable compared to previous polls, and a majority of Americans — 57 percent — said that he is performing about how they expected him to in the White House. That’s compared to 19 percent who said he is doing better than they expected and 24 percent who said he is doing worse.

Ah. A poll. Well.
Fake polls.
Right…???
Any more polls like this, and we’ll have to acknowledge that Hillary will win easily. It’s going to be an early night.
Their polls need viagra.
Is this the WSJ/NBC News poll that predicted a big election win for Donald Trump?
If you came upon a member of the media laying on the sidewalk with a sucking chest wound….
Grammar correction. ‘lying on the sidewalk’
Of course that only brings up the question, is the media member standing up or horizontal?
Trump’s success or failure will depend solely on whether the economy gets better or worse. He will never have the luxury Obama had, in which Obama could do nothing at all and still have a bunch of people in the system who loved his (in)action and praised him constantly for it.
In a similar manner, the press is going to have to produce some fire to show that they haven’t been making all of their claims up – they have to show that there is some “there” there.
One of these two is going to win, and one is going to lose. Too late for any compromise or rapprochement – this is fight to the death for both of them.
In short, if the Left can spike the economy and then scream at the top of their lungs about it being Trump’s fault, they can win.
The problem for the Left is it only can easily spike an economy if it is in control of the government.
I wonder when (or if) the press will ever realize the best way for them to suck all the wind out of Trump’s attacks is to actually do their job the way they are supposed to. Research stories, throw out the ones that don’t have facts supporting them no matter how tempting they are, present the stories in a balanced fashion, etc…
The economy will get better. The Trump plan is a positive one, for US economic growth. The only question is how much better will it get.
Now, the entire Establishment; this means the media, the Congress and Wall Street; are going to do all that they can to stifle that growth. The politicians will drag their feet on reform. The media will criticize everything that Trump does and blame all the obstructionism from the sitting politicians on him. And Wall Street will pay for it.
As you note this is now a metaphorical war to the death between Trump and his supporters and the Establishment, especially the media. And, in such a war, the media will lose, even if they take down Trump. For no one will ever believe them again. And, I figure that the political class about another 45-60 days before Trump goes after them and they have to explain why they are dragging their feet on the promises for reform that they have been promising for the last six years. This war is heating up and it is going to get nastier and nastier. Get ready.
Remember: Trump has us – forever. The media cannot sway our opinion. But Trump might sway people from the other side.
Trump will win.
– The media lost on election night.
The significant thing about this is it is a WSJ/NBC poll. Now we can be pretty certain that it isn’t skewed to make Trump look good. So, I would say that this is very encouraging news for the Trump administration.
“I have heard people rant and rave and bellow
That we’re done and we might as well be dead,
But I’m only a cockeyed optimist
And I can’t get it into my head.”
I have always been an optimist about my own life, but we, as a country, have been heading in the wrong direction for ages. Strangely, now that the MSM and others are demanding despair, I have never been so optimistic about the future of America.
Oh for f#@ks sake! Enough if this bollocks about concerns around his temperament!!
Where the hell where you idiot’s the last 8 years when Barry’s temperament destabilised the middle east because he couldn’t handle Bibi standing up to him (so to get back, like the little things skinned f#@kwit he is he openly sided with the enemies of Istael)??
