President Trump met with his first foreign leader today — UK Prime Minister Theresa May.

From The Telegraph:

Mr Trump made sure to show Mrs May the bust of Winston Churchill which he returned to the the office.

Standing alongside Mrs May, Mr Trump pointed to the bust and said: “This is the original. It’s a great honour to have Winston Churchill back.”

A smiling Mrs May responded: “Thank you, we were very pleased that you accepted it back.”

At one point Mr Trump had a large lamp moved to give the cameras a better view.

Trump believes he will get along with Mrs. May quite well.

Putting an end to the enhanced interrogation freak out, Trump said he would deferred to General Mattis, the newly minted Defense Secretary on such matters, fully expecting Mattis to “override” him.

President Donald Trump said Friday he will allow his Defense Secretary James Mattis to “override” him on torture, an issue on which the two men disagree.

“I don’t necessarily agree, but I would tell you that he would override because I am giving him that power,” Trump said Friday during a joint news conference with British Prime Minister Theresa May. “I am going to rely on him.”

Trump has in the past suggested that he would defer to Mattis, who is firmly opposed to reinstating torture, on the issue, but he appeared to go further Friday in closing the door on the issue.

It’s really kind of amazing to look at European politics these days – May, LePen, even Merkel, although she’s wrong about so much; the only Europeans left with any balls at all are women!

From what I know, Merkel never left the East German Communist Party in which she was a politician in office already when the Berlin Wall fell in 1989.

She’s never repudiated that Communist Party membership either as far as I know.
