Chicago Torture: Hate Crime charges filed, as some liberal media try to make story about Trump
Racially motivated black-on-white crime is the topic that dare not speak its name in liberal media circles.
Last night we reported the breaking story of a horrific live-streamed video of four black teens in Chicago torturing a white special needs youth while taunting him, Black Chicago teens torture special-needs boy, yell “F*** Donald Trump! F*** white people!”
Today more horrible details were revealed by police, including the existence of a second video showing the perps forcing the victim to drink from the toilet. CBS Chicago reports:
A day after Chicago police said they were questioning four people about a “sickening” video showing the torture of a mentally disabled teen, a second video has surfaced showing the suspects forcing the young man to drink out of a toilet….
In the first 30-minute video, which apparently was posted live on Facebook on Tuesday, the victim is backed into a corner, his mouth duct-taped shut. The victim’s clothes were cut, he was peppered with cigarette ashes, and then his hair cut with a knife until his scalp bled.
Several people can be seen laughing and eating during the attack, in addition to making disparaging remarks about President-elect Donald Trump and using racially charged language. At one point, while the victim is backed into a corner, someone is heard shouting “F*** Donald Trump. F*** white people.”
Thursday morning, Chicago police confirmed they are investigating a second video, which surfaced on Twitter, and appears to show the suspects grabbing the victim’s head, shoving it into a toilet, and forcing him to drink.
Someone can be heard yelling “Drink that s*** right f***ing now. … Drink the toilet water, b****! Say f*** Trump! Say f*** Trump!”
This afternoon the perps were charged with various crimes. There was media speculation that this might not be a hate crime (see more below), but hate crimes charges were filed this afternoon, Four Charged With Hate Crime For Videotaped Torture Of Teen
Two men and two women have been charged with a hate crime, after allegedly kidnapping an 18-year-old mentally challenged man, torturing him for up to two days, and posting videos of the torture online.
Jordan Hill, 18; Tesfaye Cooper, 18; Brittany Covington, 18; and Tanishia Covington, 24, have been charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated unlawful restraint, aggravated battery, and hate crime, according to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office. Hill also was charged with robbery and possession of a stolen motor vehicle. Hill, Cooper, and Brittany Covington also were charged with residential burglary.
Hill is from Carpentersville. The other three suspects are from Chicago. All four were scheduled to appear for bond hearings Friday afternoon.
Police have said the 18-year-old victimized in the videos is a northwest suburban resident with special needs who had been reported missing. The four suspects are black. The victim is white.

The reaction from liberals and leftist has been an abomination. There were multiple high profile attempts to deny this was a hate crime. The Daily Caller reported on one such instance, Crazy CNN Panelist Blames TRUMP For Kidnapped, Tortured White Man — ‘That Is Not A Hate Crime’:
During a panel discussion on CNN Wednesday night, Symone Sanders blamed an unlikely source for the kidnapping of a white, Chicago man who was mentally disabled.
For some reason, Sanders accused Donald Trump for forcing the four black assailants to torture their victim and record it, all while screaming, “fuck Donald Trump! Fuck white people!”
Shaun King followed another emerging thread of rejection, claiming that the biggest issue was that the hashtag for the incident was #BLMkidnapping, and that Black Lives Matter should not be implicated:
Others on Twitter tried to support the perps as HeatStreet documented, ‘Sick of These White Men Crying RACIST’: Radicals Defend Black Teens Held in Facebook Torture Case.
But by far the most depraved mainstream media reaction was by Callum Borchers writing in WaPo, where he tried to misdirect reaction to this horrible racist crime into an attempt by Trump supporters to justify their own racism, Pro-Trump narratives converge in one awful attack streamed on Facebook:

The cruel act captured on video is, in fact, receiving extensive media coverage — and universal condemnation — on CNN and elsewhere. But some conservatives are not satisfied by the response….
The message in conservative media is clear: Reverse discrimination — particularly against white Trump voters — is a big problem that the liberals in the media refuse to acknowledge. Oh, and by the way, Chicago (the part inhabited mostly by black people, anyway) is a super-dangerous place, just like Trump said….
The worldview of many Trump voters might not be supported by data. But now they can find support in one awful video out of Chicago.

The media believes that to recover its squandered credibility it must delegiitimize Trump.
Unfortunately for them, doing so–as in this case–only erodes trust further. And when you strip away the expensive suits, buildings, sets, impressive mastheads and the rest, trust is that these clowns ever had.
It’s gone now and they have no idea about how to restore it.
If it wasn’t for sites like Legal Insurrection, this would never have made it past the first day’s news. It would simply fade away like so many other assaults.
And someone must have reminded the police chief that Trump was coming in two weeks, so he decided he better do something after his initial inane comments. If Obama was going to be around 4 more years, the handicapped boy would have been dead and just another statistic.
As I’ve often counseled, it is wise to let due process…process.
You generally won’t get instant gratification out of the criminal LEGAL system (it is NOT a “criminal justice” system), but you will OCCASIONALLY get a result you want…given a little bit of time.

I appreciate your reference to the word legal as opposed to justice. Many extra-judicial factors go into to the charging, prosecution and conclusion of a criminal case.
It matters who you are — and who represents you. How well I remember misdemeanor arraignments of upper middle class defendants where the Court basically said after no more than 4 minutes of listening – “You look like a respectable person. Dismissed, Call the next case”.

Hate-crime laws in general are a disastrous concept; blatant assaults on some of the fundamental principles of the American experiment.
So, how to get rid of them? Progressives love them, as a way to stick it to whitey, and heterosexual people, and churchgoers, and etc.
They need some really bad PR. If a high-profile trial makes it clear that hate-enhancement laws can bite the cosseted classes as well as everyone else, maybe their glamor will fade.
To do this, these savages in this particular case have to be absolutely pounded. I have no great confidence that Illinois will be willing and able to do it.
The new Justice Dept. may have to trot out that “Federal civil rights violation” stuff and go after them that way, if the State funks out. Unfortunately, those laws are also disastrous.

However, I am reminded of the “Stand Your Ground” laws and the Trayvon case, and how the left was almost successful in having them be repealed – even though they came into being, at least partly, because of heinous crimes against blacks in the South (or so I read), as well as the ability for people to defend themselves in the event they are threatened with “grave bodily harm” – historically foundational in Western law. This allowed blacks to defend themselves when someone tried to assault them, e.g. a lynching situation. Andrew Branca (and Prof. Jacobson) wrote on this extensively at the time. 🙂
The left always manages to pivot, then attack in a different direction, to deflect, or to simply deny reality and push on full steam ahead with no facts, no evidence, no rhyme or reason. They also project, knowing full well they are guilty of the very thing they decry.
However, as an optimist, I hope you are right, that these “hate crime laws” will be repealed.
While one might not want to always judge a book by its cover, after a few years in law enforcement you will learn that many criminals are self identifying.
Profiling? Of course. That is how experience works and to ignore it would be both ridiculous and dangerous to the cop or a citizen on the street.
Profiling is the cornerstone of natural selection and adaptation.
I truly feel sorry for the honest everyday black people that go about their days just like everyone else because this is one more piece of the “Experience” puzzle that we all assemble in our brains that will impact them and their children. Every incident that we take note of is stored into zones in our memory to be retrieved when an event comes up that involves that stored data. In this case, it will be millions of people, all races, that will have stored this and when three or four black teens are approaching or nearby in a challenging situation like a flash mob at a mall, this horrible data will resurface. This is called experience but the PC crowd calls it profiling. Only a programmed robot does not learn from experience and to not use experienced gained is truly a sign of stupidity. However, we all know what will come next. If anyone uses this terrible event as an excuse to profile black teens, they will immediately be labeled racists. It is a circular firing squad.

Is there a chance that the victim “acted stupidly” or that any of the perps “could have been my (obama) son”?
Where are the demonstrations? I’ve missed the race baiters, hustling and prepping for shakedowns. What’s wrong? NARRATIVE!! It doesn’t fit.
I’m trying to get a riot started at Bass Pro Shops with a stop at several Dunkin Donuts along the way. But the timing will be critical as I’m making dinner for the boys, finishing up the chores since my wife works nights, then I have to go over homework and supervise teeth brushing. So I may have to reschedule the riot for the weekend, that’s if we don’t have any sports or household repairs. Geez how the heck does the BLM get so many people together for their riots? The reason that black people seem to be fine with the torture of a white teen is because. . . the majority of black people are fine with the torture of a white teen.

During the Milwaukee riots, they weren’t giving speeches to not riot; they were saying to bring the riot to the white neighborhood.
During the Charlotte riots, two black men punched a white photographer, knocking him out. They then carried the unconscious man to a bonfire in the middle of the road and tried to burn him alive. Not one of the dozens of black onlookers said a word against it. That photographer was saved from burning alive by three white people coming in to stop it. This was all captured on video.
I hadn’t read about the Charlotte riots and the photographer. I will have to look that one up.
If he was a journalist-photographer, I hope he learned that being a leftie – a blind, deaf, and dumb propaganda spreader (read: journalist) – doesn’t protect you when racist, rage-filled rioters want a sacrificial victim. Thankfully those people saved him.
The “uniter-in-Chief” was, of course, the exact opposite, sowing these seeds of hate, encouraging lawlessness, fueling racial animosity, widening the racial divide.
