Polls Show Voters Do Not Trust Hillary, Now Tied With Trump

She’s even losing support among young voters.

Democrat presumptive presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s poll numbers have slipped after she escaped charges for her emails at the State Department.

A New York Times/CBS News poll shows that 67% of voters do not find Clinton “honest and trustworthy.” In a month, she lost her 6% lead over Trump in the CBS News poll, which now puts them dead even.

From The New York Times:

Just 28 percent of voters said they had a positive view of Mrs. Clinton, compared with 33 percent last month. Asked if her email practices were illegal, 46 percent of voters said yes, compared with 23 percent who said using a private server was improper but not illegal. Twenty-four percent said she did nothing wrong.

“I just don’t think she’s been completely truthful with this whole thing with her emails,” Cecelia Purner, 67, a retired customer service representative in Allentown, Pa., said in a follow-up interview. But, she added, “I think she’ll make a good president if elected.”

A recent Huffington Post chart, updated in the last 22 hours, shows Clinton has a 56.4% unfavorable rating:

All of these slumps have led to Hillary only enjoying a 3% lead over Trump in the general election:

FBI Director James Comey recommended the Department of Justice not bring charges against Clinton even though they found she and staff mishandled classified information on her private email server. But Comey admitted to the House Oversight Committee “that any of his employees who handled emails the way Clinton did could be subject to dismissal or loss of security clearance.”

FBI agents had to sign an NDA to force them not to talk about the investigation. It turns out many “believe there was an inside deal put in place after the Loretta Lynch/Bill Clinton tarmac meeting.”

On Wednesday, Attorney General Loretta Lynch dodged questions from Republicans on why she chose not to prosecute Hillary. Instead of answering the simple questions, she told them to reread Comey’s statements. Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), chairman of the committee, also said not to at least “pursue charges ‘defies logic and the law,’” especially since she met with former President Bill Clinton in Arizona right before Comey announced his decision.

Clinton still has an enormous lead over Trump with young voters, but the lead has dwindled since April. The Harvard Institute of Politics found that “45% of likely young voters” still back her for president “compared to 23% for Mr. Trump and 13% for Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson.”

The institute also found that Trump supporters show more enthusiasm for him than Clinton supporters feel about her:

Among Trump backers, 36% said they were “very enthusiastic” about their choice; 21% of Mrs. Clinton’s supporters were “very enthusiastic.”

Earlier this month, the Public Policy Polling released a poll that showed 13% of respondents would choose Giant Meteor over Clinton and Trump. 27% of Independent voters chose the meteor.

I will continue to post this till the election is over.

Top 3 words that voters used to describe Hillary:

Liar Dishonest Untrustworthy

Her actions with the e mail server have disqualified her from the office of President!

inspectorudy | July 14, 2016 at 6:28 pm

I hate this woman! But I am simply amazed that Trump cannot zoom past her with all her negatives. I said it before and I’ll repeat it, we can all feel lucky that she wasn’t indicted. If Trump can possibly win it will only be against this hag.

Olinser in reply to inspectorudy. | July 14, 2016 at 7:20 pm

Because Democrats are very, very good at closing ranks behind their chosen nominee. Clinton is an unbelievably bad nominee. Dishonest, vindictive, stupid and petty. And yet Democrats will vote for her because she’s a Democrat. Sanders announced his support for her despite being against everything she stands for.

Republicans, on the other hand, have idiots like Jeb! refusing to even consider backing him, idiots talking about effectively invalidating the vote to have the convention select somebody else, the establishment frantically trying to nominate amnesty shill after amnesty shill, and a whole bunch of #NeverTrump who seem determined to make sure Hillary wins at all costs.

I wish Cruz had won. But even if literally every bad prediction conservatives have made about Trump comes true, he will STILL not be as bad as we KNOW Clinton will be.

“But I am simply amazed that Trump cannot zoom past her with all her negatives.”

But I am simply amazed that Romney cannot zoom past him with all his negatives.

See how this works? Are you just a Trump hater or are you just politically ignorant?

rabidfox in reply to Barry. | July 14, 2016 at 10:06 pm

Trump hasn’t been spending any money on advertising vs the millions that Hillary has been spending. And he’s still creeping ahead in the polls. September and October are going to be interesting.

Barry, this kind of comment is . . . bizarre. Inspectorrudy is simply pointing out the very real fact that Trump is not trouncing Hillary in the polls so far. He should be. A well-worn shoe should beat her. The problem, of course, is that Trump’s unfavorables aren’t a lot better than Hillary’s.

Oh, and not incidentally, Romney should indeed have beaten Obama in 2012. Curiously, a lot of the same people now supporting Trump have also clearly, even proudly, stated that they voted for neither McCain nor Romney. Not a few had vowed, prior to Cruz’s dropping out and on these very pages, they’d never vote for Cruz if he won the nomination. Yet these same people are now bashing people who have taken a similar stance to their own in past presidential election cycles. Needless to say, these Trump fans are no more effective in their attempts to change #NeverTrump minds than we were in trying to change #NeverMcCain and #NeverRomney minds. These people brought us Obama. I have no use for them, particularly now that they have rallied around an absolute disaster.

“Barry, this kind of comment is . . . bizarre”

I find it bizzare that you can not understand the point, then support it a couple sentences later.

The point: trump is no different in this respect than all the other republicans, McCain, Dole, Romney. You remember them, right?

Of course, it’s not quite true. The polls have been rigged by oversampling democrats. The better polls have shown it close and trump now pulling ahead. But my response was to the silliness of trump being unique in the republican party. The only thing bizarre is just how much TDS destroys the functioning of the logical portion of the brain.

Wow. So let’s get this straight: when the polls showed Trump ahead of Hillary, they were correct and unbiased, but now that the polls are showing him either dead even or behind, they are “rigged.”

          Tinfoil hat much?

Polls can be wrong, of course, and have been increasingly so since people have ditched their landlines for cell phones, but to embrace (and frantically link) to polls you like and then dismiss those you don’t smacks of self-delusion.

As to your implied statement that Trump is somehow NOT unique in the Republican party . . . I have no words. But it does seem that you are implying that Trump is “just like” the Republican party and a great fit. How does that mesh with your concept of him as some sort of outsider who will miraculously “get things done” without the benefit of Congress or the Supremes?

You don’t want it both ways, you want it every way.

What do you think are the odds that you’ll get that?

Barry in reply to Barry. | July 16, 2016 at 1:20 am

“As to your implied statement that Trump is somehow NOT unique in the Republican party . . . I have no words. But it does seem that you are implying that Trump…”

Fuzzy, are you pretending to be ignorant? I know you are not. It is clear what I implied, that trump as a republican candidate is not unique with respect to their position at this time in the polls. It’s that simple, and you know it. you just change the nature of what I said because you cannot stand anything being said positive about trump, or anything negative being refuted.

Unlike you apparently, I look at the polling metrics when available. Some are blatantly dishonest. Perhaps you do not know this? or just do not want to admit it when it involves trump.

Trump is going to defeat her handily. The TedHeads and the never Trumpers are going to be wrong yet again.

Barry in reply to PhillyGuy. | July 14, 2016 at 9:21 pm

You’d think they would have gotten tired of being wrong every single time for 1 year now, and just shut up.

Apparently they are too damn stupid to know they’re stupid.

What is it exactly that you think Trump will accomplish if elected? The banishment of the hated “Establishment”? A new dawn of American Exceptionalism based on Trump’s business track record? His marriage record? His rhetoric?

Telling me you hate Hillary and the “Establishment” is NO defense/argument for a Trump presidency.

Please answer the above so we can all know how great a Trump presidency will be – in your eyes. Smirking doesn’t count as a defense.

A “thumbs down” is all you have for an answer?
      -just like your candidate.

      J. J.
I note from Dr. Carson’s newsletter that republican senate candidate for Colorado Darrel Glenn will have one of the prime speaking spots at the convention next week. While Cory Gardner, Doug Lamborn, Scott Tipton, & possibly Mike Coffman all make appearances with Michael Bennet

Oh, & by the way, Michael Bennet is featuring that mutual cooperation in his campaign ads against Darrel Glenn.

I can’t get a handle on how your mind works so I’ll just ask.
Does that make Darrel Glenn an “Uncle Tom?”

“Please answer the above so we can all know how great a Trump presidency will be – in your eyes. Smirking doesn’t count as a defense.”

Having everyone chase squirrels doesn’t count as a defense.

I believe Mr. Trump can do the following:

{1}The Debt: Mr. Trump will assemble a team of business leaders whose proposals will be made clear to The American Public and those steps, however dire, will be at least attempted.

{2}The leviathan government and government czars,non-needed departments.Mr. Trump has made clear his desire to eliminate The Dept. of Ed; whittle down others.

{3} Immigration: This Republic can not absorb the amount of illegals economically, socially and politically.Mr. Trumps’ stated policies are well known.Whether he can get Congress to model a bill based on the Reed Act of1924 or use executive fiats to help curb illegal immigration will be tried.

Given you’re cogent posts in the past on the dangers of a Mr. Trump being President 45, I submit these reasons for Mr. Trump knowing Mrs.Clinton will never solve the above mentioned.

        Ragspierre in reply to mike191. | July 15, 2016 at 12:26 pm

Your beliefs are religious, in that they are not based on reality.

[1] T-rump has promised to continue entitlement programs, including social insecurity. This is simply impossible. There isn’t enough money in the world. He’s lying to us.

“His” tax plan has been scored to show an INCREASE of 16 trillion dollars in debt. IIRC. You can look it up.

[2] Der Donald LOVES BIG GOVERNMENT. He has promised “better brights” to run your life, NOT to revert to liberty.

He has promised several things that are ANTI-Federalist and ANTI-Constitutional. He was lying to us, or plans on rolling over the Constitution and state governments.

He HATES market economics, and his trade proposals are indistinguishable from Bernie Sander’s or hte AFL-CIO.

[3] Mr. Establishment has PROMISED touch-back amnesty. His bullshit about deporting millions in a short time would have a catastrophic effect on the U.S. economy, including just that on the housing market. Other means will work.

          mike191 in reply to Ragspierre. | July 15, 2016 at 4:40 pm

Although my post was directed at Miss Johnson, I am honored that the famous Mr. Rags has replied. To you’re analysis:

the debt: I used the word dire as implied with many Americans having some cuts directed towards them.I will use the religious test that Trump will assemble a team of business leaders who ,leap of faith, he will listen to and try to implement those plans.

The curious thing about Mr. Trump and you’re claim of doom based on his tax plan,I would suggest you read The Wall Street Journal, todays, edition. In short that what you base empirical evidence upon is not all that solid as evidence.

The size of government and the “light of liberty”, with Mrs. Clinton liberty will decrease as government grows. If Mr. Trump promises to whittle down government ,you are convinced this will never happen, and the repeal of Obama Care,a giant step towards liberty will happen.

Immigration: In light of recent events, let me state :we can agree to disagree.

Thank you for the alacrity you have exhibited to my post.

“What is it exactly that you think Trump will accomplish if elected?”

Hard to determine who “you” is in your question, or who in your further comment you think down voted you rather than answering the question.

Since the election has been going on for a little over a year now, it should be well understood why the supporters of trump do so. Of course you nevertrumpers are too damn dense to get anything, and still think voting Romney was not a violation of their principles, but voting trump is.

      In short:

      1. Trump has pledged to stop illegal immigration, the #1 long term problem we have in this country.

      2. Trump has pledged to stop importing, refugee’s from the middle east that we have no business allowing in the USA. Yes, muslims.

      3. Trump has pledged to end corrupt trade deals, that are inimical to the USA. Note, we do not have free trade. Free trade deals can be written on a single page.

There are of course, other positions. But those are why he resonates with Americans. You will say he is lying and will do none of this. No one else has pledged to do it. It is possible he intends to do the opposite. Every republican in the last 30 years has said one thing and done another. We shall see. I believe he has the intention to do these things. Trump has a long written history of exactly that for items 1 & 3, and item 2 is just a subset of 1, albeit a recent view, one that is born of current circumstances.

I know of no Trump supporter that thinks trump is perfect. There are no perfect candidates.

I said back in October of 2015 that trump was a weapon to destroy the corrupt GOPe. And he is and has. The corrupt GOPe is just a part of the left in this country. In order to defeat the left we have to have a party that will oppose them. So, their destruction must come first. It is well underway at this point. In a long war, one must make allies where one can. Some may be short alliances, some will be long and enduring. You might take note of some of trump’s earliest supporters, like Sessions. You just decided they were “sell outs”. No, he is not. They were not. Some of them recognized that Trump was serious and had the cojones to get the job done. You, and your fellow nevertrumpers, have distorted everything about trump in order to justify your hatred of someone you do not like. I don’t have to “like” someone to recognize they are the only chance to get the job done. I have however, come to like Trump. He is no saint. Neither are the others. Not even close. Nor am I.

I am however, a dedicated unabashed American. I believe this is the greatest country on earth, in all of human history. I have traveled this earth for 40+ years. I’ve been to places like Pakistan, China, Bangladesh, Egypt, Europe, eastern Europe, and about 40 other countries. I have benefited from some of the so called “free trade” agreements as an exporter, but I also know the truth about those agreements. They are harmful in the long term to the average American worker. I have friends, many, that are muslims. They are fine people and hate what happens in their name. I would be happy to have them in the USA. But not the unknown “refugee” that is intent on destruction.

Our great experiment, America, is being destroyed from within. I do not require a “clean toga” president or party. I require one that recognizes a problem, plainly speaks about it, and plans to solve the problem. That person may fail. I require a person that will try, they will get my support. Donald Trump is that person.

Barry, you wrote (and I respond):

        1. Trump has pledged to stop illegal immigration, the #1 long term problem we have in this country.

Bwahaha! Trump pledged no such thing (you may recall that part of his “plan” included, somehow, stopping states from providing in-state tuition to illegals; why would that matter if he’s going to “stop” it?); he blathered on about a wall to swooning fan bois who heard what they wanted to hear . . . even as he clearly stated that “everything is negotiable.”

        2. Trump has pledged to stop importing, refugee’s from the middle east that we have no business allowing in the USA. Yes, muslims.

Again, where are these “pledges,” and what makes you think that Trump, who even you admit has lied (you just call it pandering, as if that’s a good thing), would do this? He was PO’d about Pam Geller’s “draw Muhammad” event in Garland, Texas, and he stated that she “provoked” and “antagonized” Islamists and implied in that statement that any Muslim attack on Geller or her event occurred because she “asked for it.” People shouldn’t be allowed to, in Trump’s words, “openly mock religion in order to provoke attacks and death.” Yeah, that’s a guy who will ban Muslims from entering the U. S., especially given his close, if recent, ties to Christie. What on earth are you thinking?

        3. Trump has pledged to end corrupt trade deals, that are inimical to the USA. Note, we do not have free trade. Free trade deals can be written on a single page.

No, he made no such pledge, and he has not mentioned “corruption” in trade deals . . . for the very reason that most of his “deals” are corrupt to their core (eminent domain to build a limo parking lot? Really?). He espouses fair (not free) trade, which, my friend, is pushed by George Soros and his merry band of traitorous organizations. Soros, by the way, is a man with whom Trump has a number of business ties (and with whom he has shared the role of defendant in a number of lawsuits concerning their corrupt “business” ventures).

All that said, how do you envision your orange savior accomplishing all of this . . . particularly since you Trump fans have zero interest in House and Senate races. Or do you just imagine you are supporting a tyrant king who can fulfill your wishes with the stroke of his pen and the power of his phone?

“All that said, how do you envision your orange savior accomplishing all of this . . . particularly since you Trump fans have zero interest in House and Senate races. Or do you just imagine you are supporting a tyrant king who can fulfill your wishes with the stroke of his pen and the power of his phone?”

Calling trump my “orange savior” and “tyrant king” is just more of your condescending BS. Especially coming from a worshiper of the “true blue” Cruz.

And once again with “have zero interest in House and Senate races”. Patently false. Just more of your pathetic nonsense.

As is the rest of your diatribe. Nonsense. As I made clear in my response.

I can see the result at the convention has taken a real toll on you nevertrumpers. You are all kooks. You keep losing and keep hoping, ignoring reality. You have a lot in common with the left.

Look Trump fans, people currently think Trump is as honest as Hillary. You must be so proud. Soon he will be marginally more trusted and all kinds of barriers will have been broken!

Two things to take note of when your meds kick in…

      1. http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/15/politics/swing-state-polls-hillary-clinton-leads-trump/index.html

Der Donald doesn’t punch through 38%k. So, your delusional poll dancing picture seems a bit…delusional

      2. I don’t maintain a list of “38 news outlets” I plague with my bullshit like you do. ‘Cause I’m not crazy. I bet they DO appreciate the bird-cage liner, however…

My media contact level is now over 60. My entire operation now involves over 400 contacts & covers a number of varying issues. There are several other initiatives I’m involved in as well. I do get responses, I do impact media & other areas. You won’t believe that, I understand. Over the years I’ve dealt with a number of all hat, & no cattle types such as yourself.

You’ve made a number of comments recently that’ve mocked what I’m about. I also understand that’s what you do. You can’t do, so you belittle.

You have one area in which you’re known. That is on L. I. where you’re the chief nag, bitcher, & naysayer. I can see why you’re so impressed with yourself.

Everyone who can read knows you to be the lying cultist you are.

In your 2nd response you allude to my 38 news contacts (wrong) imply my efforts are a waste of their time. Then earlier you said I’d thrown my life away & broken my life for a useless cause. My question to you is how could you possibly arrive at that defeatist attitude with no specific knowledge?

I’ll tell you how. I addressed unique information to you as Ragspierre thru the Patterico link you provided through L.I. It involved some of my initiatives, I was hoping you might respond in a positive manner. That didn’t happen. Instead you responded with typical Rags hatred, negativity & venom. I know you for what you are. You’re what you are on this site. I quit sending you anything because I was concerned you’d strike back through some of the other contacts contained in what I sent you.

You are what you invariably accuse the rest of us of being. A mental case filled with hate, venom, anger & bitterness. You lie as a matter of course. You firmly believe your own delusions. I won’t waste my time suggesting you get help.

I READ what people write here, and you wrote a LOT of expository crap in response to Fuzzy just within the last few weeks.

You OFTEN brag here about your “media contacts” and how many you contacted with your weighty “thoughts”.

Are you really just a complete fool, or just such a damn loser you’ll push any lie?

That poll is nothing more than a rigged poll to show the desired result. I think you know it. But maybe not.

You may really be that stupid. It is getting hard to tell.

Maybe she should actually hold a press conference and take questions from non sycophant media.

Hillary has not held a press conference since December 4, 2015, when she answered only 7 questions.
