Hillary Fan Philly Mayor: Black Lives ‘Haven’t Mattered From 1600s Up Until Now’

Looking for equality or preference?

Such a shame that current Philadelphia Mayor, Democrat Jim Kenney—and Hillary Clinton for that matter—weren’t around for the drafting of the Declaration of Independence. Back in 1776, Kenney and Clinton obviously would have been much more enlightened, morally-advanced voices than Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Benjamin Franklin . . .

On today’s Morning Joe, Kenney—who endorsed Hillary early in the primary season—was asked about the prevalence of Black Lives Matter voices and concerns to be heard at this week’s DNC. He responded with a condemnation of law enforcement, the court system and even the Declaration of Independence. Kenney declared that black lives “haven’t mattered in our country over the history of law enforcement and in the criminal courts and in the way people have been treated from the 1600s up until now. When the Declaration of Independence was signed, it was all men are equal: well, all white men with land were created equal.”

Really? “Up until now” black lives haven’t mattered in our country? Do any of the following ring a bell with Kenney: the Civil War, the civil rights legislation of the 1960s [strongly supported by Republican senators and opposed by many Democrats], Great Society, affirmative action, etc.?

Kenney went on to say that it’s been a “succession of fights to get the rights for everybody.” Of course it’s true that from the moment of its founding to the present day, our nation is not and never has been perfect. But the Declaration was a truly revolutionary document in establishing the moral principle of equality, unprecedented in the world of its time, and laying the groundwork for future progress. For a modern politician like Kenney to slander the Framers, along with today’s police and court system, is grotesque.

Note: As reader pfg has astutely pointed out, in January, a man shot a Philly policeman multiple times at point-blank range, saying he did it in the name of ISIS.  At the time, Kenney claimed the shooting had nothing to do with Islam. “It is abhorrent,” he said. “It does not represent the religion in any shape or form or any of the teachings. This is a criminal with a stolen gun who tried to kill one of our officers, and it has nothing to do with being a Muslim or following the Islamic faith.” The Philly police union recently issued a statement condemning the Clinton convention for inviting relatives of those killed by police but not relatives of police killed in the line of duty by black protesters.  Kenney’s slur of police this morning will surely add fuel to that fire.

WILLIE GEIST: Mr. Mayor, one of the themes we’ll hear a lot about tonight, we’ll hear about it this week as a matter of fact: Black Lives Matter, we’ll hear mothers of victims of police violence. How have the events in the country over the least couple of years, if they have, changed the way you talk to your police about dealing with their community?

JIM KENNEY: Well, the issue of Black Lives Matter is that they do, because they haven’t mattered in our country over the history of law enforcement and in the criminal courts and in the way people have been treated from the 1600s up until now. When the Declaration of Independence was signed, it was all men are equal: well, all white men with land were created equal.

In case you may have forgotten an event of a mere 6 months ago.

A Muslim attacked, attempting to kill, a Philly cop, Allahu Akbarring all the way. The Philly police commissioner stated the would-be killer’s motive at a press conference, reporting everything that the Muslim said about motive.

Right after the commissioner spoke, right after, Democrat Mayor Kenney said this, “In no way shape or form does anyone in this room [the commissioner is standing right behind the blabbering mayor] believe that Islam or the teaching of Islam has anything to do with what you’ve seen on the screen. It is abhorrent. It is terrible and it does not represent the religion or any of its teachings.”

Many thanks for pointing that out. The Philly police union was already angry at Hillary for her choice of BLM speakers and I’m sure this latest slur from Kenney will further ‘endear’ him and her to them.

Yet their union, like most unions, will still give money to democrats. Democrats run on money. Denying them money will have more impact than grumbling.

    “Allahu Akbarring…”

It says something about the state of a culture when a phrase becomes a verb.

In this case what it says is not good.

Yeah, the Philly mayor is a Bill DeBlasio clone. What a schnook!

Black Lives may not have mattered “until now” to Democrats. But you may recall the Republicans prosecuted a Civil War that killed 600,000 mostly whites in order to end the practice of slavery. Just sayin’

I’ve reached a point where, no, black lives don’t matter to me. Not in the least. Another way of phrasing it is that I refused to accept the white man’s burden.

Are there individual blacks I care about? Yes, indeed! The two men I hired for my department are ones I care very much about. Both have bright futures based on their merits and characteristics, not as fillers of a hiring quota. I care about one or two I remember from my days in the military. I care about my postman, who is a true gentleman.

But, in general? No. In just my lifetime, de jure segregation has ended, they’ve been bused to other school districts to -in the eyes of the dogooders – give them opportunity. They are first in line for hiring in government jobs, and have the first leg up at major corporations. Most have thrown all this away and demand more, More, MORE.

Nuts to them. Cut off the welfare, the preferences, the quotas. Let them sink or swim like every other minority group has had to do.

He seems to have missed a small event starting in 1861 that consumed the lives and health of some 650,000 American citizens. But we all know history started last night.

He’s counting on a young audience who may not even be aware of the Civil War / War Between the State / War of Northern Aggression.

Chicago.

Where in god’s name do they find these idiots?

After saying something like this WHY would anyone vote for this joker?

Dems revving into hyper-suck mode for black votes. The ones of Irish extraction lead the way, as usual.

He’s right…Black Lives have NEVER mattered to the Democrats. If black lives truly mattered to Democrats, the condition of black society in the areas run by Democrats for decades wouldn’t be the cesspool that it is.

What matters, and remains unsaid by Democrats and their abused lovers in the establishment media, is black votes. Unfortunately for blacks, they have decided to follow their Pied Pipers and have betrothed themselves to Democrat machine politics. No one in their right mind believes they must be cared about, much less courted, by any other political party, making them dependent upon Democrats to better their situation.

Sadly, the Democrats have no vested interest in doing that. Beggars are so much easier to please.

You have to wonder why they send cops into Black neighborhoods.

Apparently, they don’t care and only kill Blacks, so sending in more cops is obviously racist.

It is pretty clear that black lives matter a lot more to me than to most blacks. I do not want blacks killing each other, I want blacks to have jobs and lead productive lives, I want blacks to get married and raise their kids well, I want blacks to stop committing crimes way out of proportion to their population, I want blacks to have good schools and have them study hard to improve their lives as so many have done before. I’m even willing to support politicians and public policy to encourage and support all these things. Too bad most blacks disagree with me.

Is it fair to say that ‘most’ blacks disagree with me? As lot as around 90% vote Democrat, the answer is yes.

Idiots all.

Democrats gotta Democrat!

Most folks forget the purpose of the Constitution’s 2/3 of a person statement. At that time, slaves were counted as zero, i.e. as property, not voting citizens. The slave states wanted to keep it that way. Most of the founders wanted to count Blacks in the census for determining how many congressmen they would get. In order to get the Constitution ratified, they compromised, counting Blacks as 2/3. This allowed the slave states and free states to have nearly equal representation in Congress and allowed for ratification. Because they recognized this should eventually change, they only made it permanent for 20 years. The bottom line is, the 2/3 of a person was to move Blacks into our society, not to diminish them. Of course, the race pimps do not want to let the Blacks and liberals know the truth, or they might flee the Democrat reservation.

“Most of the founders wanted to count Blacks in the census for determining how many congressmen they would get.”

You sort of have that reversed.

Plus, it wasn’t “blacks”, but slaves who would be counted as 2/3 human beings. Freeman in any state were counted as just folks.

    IIRC….

Your ignorance of history is simply astounding.

Slave states wanted slaves counted in the Census.

Non-slave states didn’t want to count slaves at all.

The eventual compromise was called the “Three-fifths Compromise”, and not because it involved 2/3 of anything.

both of you are quite right and I appreciate you correcting my memory. The point is, however, that the founders were improving the lot for slaves (Blacks), not trying to diminish them as these Democrats are implying.
