Debates Won’t Be Great Again: Trump Will NOT Debate Bernie Sanders

“It seems inappropriate that I would debate the second place finisher”

[Insert sad trombone here]

Donald Trump’s campaign released a statement Friday afternoon saying there will be no Trump v. Sanders primary showdown.

Instead, Trump will wait to debate “Crooked Hillary” or whomever the Democratic challenger might be.

Raise your hand if you’re shocked.

Highlights yet again how unprepared Trump is on the issues. Looks like a dope for challenging Bernie and then backing off, when Bernie, desperate to overturn the status quo in the Democrat party, was obviously going to grasp any straw to try to take the nomination from Hillary.

Any sentient being with a working knowledge of the issues – even someone completely wrong on every one, like Bernie – could make Trump look stupid and uninformed.

That’s because he is stupid, and uninformed. The man can’t put two coherent sentences on policy together. He changes the subject every time, amazing he’s got this far.

Trump didn’t challenge Bernie. Liberal douchenozzle Jimmy Kimmel suggested it and Trump went along with the joke. He pushed it at his press conference with the proviso that the networks put up $10 million for charity. After all he would be giving them a ratings Bonanza. Did the networks agree? Why should he make money for networks that work 24 hours a day to destroy him. Morons complain about the media covering him instead of Hillary or Bernie. They claim that the media created him.Wake up! They only do that because he is making them money. He is giving them ratings. So he will leverage it to making the best deal he can. That’s what deal making is about. You walk away from it if it is not in your favor. Not 50/50. It has to be at least 60/40 or better if you are smart. If there are too many downsides you don’t make the deal unless there is enough of an upside to let you accept it. Making Hillary look bad is not enough. She does a great job of that all on her own.

Deal-making 101.

You don’t have to make excuses for Deranged Donald, he can speak for himself. However, DDT has exposed his mental incapacity by refusing a debate with Crazy Bern and not Crooked Hillary. The Trump Ego is incapable of seeing the chance for a brilliant “gotcha” on Hillary who would be unable to recover from such a put down – unless of course the Deranged One is afraid of The Bern.

Hahahahahaha, brilliant. It shouldn’t be; but American politics is so stylized, bland and unoriginal that the simplest tactics are—relatively speaking—novel and therefore effective.

So, d’uh, don’t stand where your opponent is punching; sidestep and rely on his own clumsiness to trip him up. And you don’t have to be Sun Tzu to know this; any boxer could give the political consultants some useful tips.

Not shocked but very disappointed.

Once again Trump’s mouth wrote a check his brain couldn’t cash. The man is a walking talking idiot! It is so typical of his followers to make light of this foul up but everyone knows it was a big blunder in the first place. He had EVERYTHING to lose and zero to gain by debating Sanders. We all knew that but he didn’t until his handlers told him it was a suicide mission. Going head to head with Sanders would be like going into a darkened room with a homicidal maniac with nothing to lose. This is called Trump “Thinking” on his feet as opposed to putting his feet into his mouth! God help us if he or hillary wins. Can’t we have a third choice?

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck then it must be Donald Ducking.

The brave “I’ll make Mexico and China pay” Donald is afraid to face anyone who poses a challenge. Donald the poser makes his own terms. What a man! What a ducking man!

Do people really want Vince Downey as their president?

Trump has been working up the food chain:

Me, I want to vote myself a king.

Boy you Trump haters are starting to lose it. Trump is not going to take a deal that is not totally in his best interest. He doesn’t have to do that to satisfy morons who don’t have his best interests at heart. Who does he need to please? The lying media? He got what he needed. He dominated the news cycle again and pushed Obama’s surrender to the Japs out of the News. Hillary looks stupid and Bernie is all dressed up with no where to go just like he was at the Prom. Just like all the Bernie Bro pajama Boys were back in the day.

Sorry Suckers. Have a Happy Memorial Day Weekend and make sure you buy a drink or a meal for a vet to thank them for their service.

I’ve supported Wounded Warriors for years now. I send them the money directly and they receive it directly! That is not how the Trump foundation does things!

I say thank you to those who have served all the time. And I will be putting my flag out this weekend.

I played taps on many a Memorial Day as my dad, a mayor, lead the Memorial Day service for our town.

OK time to put your thumb back in your mouth Trumpies.

I agree that Trooper York believes that Trump is incapable of wrong thinking or doing, but telling him you give money directly to Wounded Warriors raises a big flag. The charity’s ratio of administrative and fundraising spending to program benefits is abysmal at only 60% programs to 40% expenses – and they sell your email address.

WW’s board of directors recently dismissed the charity’s top two executives after hiring a law firm.

Trumpism must be rooted out and dealt with wherever it occurs.

And, my info was never sent out by them to the best of my knowledge. Whenever I subscribe to anything I provide a variation on my name so I find out who has disregarded my request to not be put on any list. I deal with those who do.

Hey trooper, it was Trump HIMSELF who agreed to it not us! The man cannot think on his feet. He has to be taken into a back room and told how bad his latest gaff is and how to get out of it.

Free State Paul | May 27, 2016 at 6:31 pm

Well, this is a bit of a disappointment in what was an otherwise fantastic week!

(State Department email report, Terry McAuliffe under FBI investigation and Trump clinching the nomination. )

Trump met his numbers yesterday so why bother giving press to a second rate career hack like Sanders.

Let’s blather on about a dumb debate proposal. We don’t want to discuss any of Trump’s actual ideas. Why no mention of his energy speech?

https://youtu.be/YYsl_e6we0U

I actually think this is Trump’s first real misstep in this campaign. This is the first time he’s appeared to a lot of people to say he’ll do something and then backed out.

On Kimmel he said he’d do it, the media narrative has been that he’s agreed to do it, and now he’s not.

He can spin it however he likes, but people will only pay attention to the “Trump Backs Out of Debate” headlines.

I suppose it still helps Bernie with the “Trump is scared of Bernie” narrative.

It’s not so much of a misstep as the kid gloves coming off. He didn’t do anything different from when he refused to debate conservatives, and he got away with that, but now that he clinched the nomination, media noticed.

      Evan3457 in reply to edgeofthesandbox. | May 28, 2016 at 12:27 pm

It is different because he never agreed to those additional debates. This one, he agreed with Kimmel that it would be a great idea, then backed out.

You acknowledged and yet ignored your own words

    “the media narrative”

inspectorudy in reply to jabster. | May 27, 2016 at 8:32 pm

Hey Jabster, how is Mars this time of year? You must have been there these last few months if you think this is his first backing out of a deal he has proposed or an event he promised to take part in.

Edgeofthesandbox: It’s different this time because during the GOP primary, Trump had been the clear (let’s face it, he was) frontrunner, and he was able to back out of debates because of that position.

This time, as the nominee, he agreed to a debate with someone who has been ahead of him in some polls, and now he’s backed out. And there’s a chance, however sight it may be, that Bernie will end up being the nominee: ie: a winner. The other GOP candidates were all losers when Trump stopped debating them.

The bigger issue for me is that the crooked Clinton camp was unhinged. They did not want this. They feared that crazy Bernie may actually make sense to the remaining socialist, I mean democrat primary voters.

As for Trump, not sure how this would have benefitted him.

“As for Trump, not sure how this would have benefitted him.”

Bingo! Give the man a stuffed monkey! You figured this out on your own but it took Trump and his handlers days to understand that there was no “Up” side to this proposed debate with Sanders. Imagine how he is going to handle the debates with the Chineses over their illegal island building in the South China Sea! Or Pakistan or Afghanistan or Japan or Russia. How many days will it take to undo what he says on TV?

Neophytes at politics.

Trump has outwitted everyone.

You’ve missed the point inspectorudy. It’s a

Oops. Not the friendliest site for mobile here.
Missed the point. It’s a misstep because this backing out is a much yyuuugger story. All the talk for the past couple days was Trump v Bernie. Now it’s going to be Trump Scared of Bernie.

Barry in reply to jabster. | May 27, 2016 at 11:50 pm

    “It’s a misstep because…”

I’ll file that as item # 1,892,476 in the “failed trump predictions” file.

Here’s you’re little yellow god, T-rump suckers, in full-throated attack demagoguery mode showing his respect for the judiciary, and knowing the man he’s attacking can’t respond.

Aren’t you proud…???
