George Bush did not “lie us into war,” no matter how many times the media and Democrats claim it was so.
But Barack Obama did lie himself into office, when he falsely claimed to oppose gay marriage on religious grounds during the 2008 campaign:
In fact, we now know as a fact what we always suspected, that Obama’s 2008 position was purely political, so as not to alienate the religious black community, whose enthusiasm and turnout was critical to Obama’s campaign.
What used to be just a “right-wing” tag line about Obama not being honest about his faith, now is proven by Obama’s key confidant and political advisor, David Axelrod as reported in Time, Axelrod: Obama Misled Nation When He Opposed Gay Marriage In 2008 (emphasis added):
Barack Obama misled Americans for his own political benefit when he claimed in the 2008 election to oppose same sex marriage for religious reasons, his former political strategist David Axelrod writes in a new book, Believer: My Forty Years in Politics.“I’m just not very good at bullshitting,” Obama told Axelrod, after an event where he stated his opposition to same-sex marriage, according to the book.Axelrod writes that he knew Obama was in favor of same-sex marriages during the first presidential campaign, even Obama publicly said he only supported civil unions, not full marriages. Axelrod also admits to counseling Obama to conceal that position for political reasons. “Opposition to gay marriage was particularly strong in the black church, and as he ran for higher office, he grudgingly accepted the counsel of more pragmatic folks like me, and modified his position to support civil unions rather than marriage, which he would term a ‘sacred union,’ ” Axelrod writes.
So Obama lied about his faith. Funny that.
And he lied not only during the 2008 campaign about it, but also during the 2012 campaign when Obama claimed he evolved into supporting gay marriage.
Listen to his announcement, and the detailed explanation he gives for evolving — it was all a lie, and he said it in a believable, seemingly heart-felt manner:
He didn’t evolve, he just decided to stop lying, because the national politics had changed and Obama wanted large donations for the 2012 campaign.
If Bill Clinton was an “unusually good liar,” Barack Obama deserves Academy Awards for Lying in a Leading Role, for his 2008 and 2012 performances.
This revelation is not about gay marriage. Unlike Obama, much of the country honestly has “evolved” on the issue and it’s likely the Supreme Court will rule that way next June.
This has everything to do with our having a president who lied about his own core, his faith, for political gain.
If you can’t trust someone when he speaks of his faith, why should you trust him on anything?
What else has Obama lied about?
