Texas and California in crosshairs of ISIS and Al Qaeda?

Texas and California in crosshairs of ISIS and Al Qaeda?

Recent reporting indicates concerns for states along the Mexico border.

Watching the press conference that President Obama gave yesterday in which he revealed that his foreign policy has devolved from “don’t do stupid stuff” to “no strategy,” I was perplexed that the media was complaining more about the color of the suit instead of its emptiness.

Mulling over the subsequent coverage, I couldn’t help but wonder what the upcoming September 11th would bring for our country, because our enemies are clearly inspired by weakness.

Now Judicial Watch has revealed that Islamic terrorist groups are operating Mexico and plan to attack the United States along our southern border.

Specifically, Judicial Watch sources reveal that the militant group Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) is confirmed to now be operating in Juarez, a famously crime-infested narcotics hotbed situated across from El Paso, Texas. Violent crimes are so rampant in Juarez that the U.S. State Department has issued a number of travel warnings for anyone planning to go there. The last one was issued just a few days ago.

Intelligence officials have picked up radio talk and chatter indicating that the terrorist groups are going to “carry out an attack on the border,” according to one JW source. “It’s coming very soon,” according to this high-level source, who clearly identified the groups planning the plots as “ISIS and Al Qaeda.” An attack is so imminent that the commanding general at Ft. Bliss, the U.S. Army post in El Paso, is being briefed, another source confirms. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) did not respond to multiple inquiries from Judicial Watch, both telephonic and in writing, about this information.

Texas is not the only target. My hometown of San Diego is also in the crosshairs.

Fox News reports that the General Atomics defense contractor in San Diego is among the terror targets mentioned in a new English-language Al Qaeda magazine called Palestine–Betrayal of the Guilty Conscience Al-Malahem.

The magazine, which is published by AQAP, the media wing of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, uses language that implies an attack will come very soon.

Instructions for making car bombs are accompanied by a list of possible terror targets–including public places such as Times Square in New York City and casinos in Las Vegas, as well as military venues such as the Georgia Military College and the U.S. Air Force Academy. Other targets listed include oil tankers and trains.

One of the most chilling memories I have of September 11, 2001, was learning that several of the hijackers partied at the local strip club a couple of miles from my home before they went on their mission. More recently, a California mas was sentenced to 13 years in prison for attempting to assist Al Queda.

A California man who used Facebook and other Internet communications to connect with al Qaeda and planned to train its fighters in Pakistan was sentenced Monday to 13 years in federal prison followed by 10 years of supervised release.

Sinh Vinh Ngo Nguyen, 25, of Garden Grove, pleaded guilty in December to one count of attempting to assist a known terrorist organization.

“I simply do not understand how we can rehabilitate his commitment to die for his beliefs,” U.S. District Court Judge John F. Walter commented while discussing what potential threat Nguyen might pose after his release.

Additionally, two California Muslims are now on trial for attempting to help the terror group.

The trial of two Inland Empire men accused of being involved in a terrorist plot resumes in Riverside federal court this week, as jurors weigh whether the defendants’ alleged plans to travel overseas and join Al Qaeda posed a true threat or were overstated by investigators.

Sohiel Omar Kabir, 36, of Pomona and Ralph Kenneth Deleon, 25, of Ontario face five counts of conspiracy, including plans to provide support to overseas terrorist groups, commit terrorist acts overseas and receive Al Qaeda training.

And a San Diego man recently died fighting with ISIS in Syria.

Finally, as San Diego recovers from the spate of wildfires in May, Walter Scott (a former National Security Agency official) discusses Al Qaeda’s plans to start wildfires in California with “ember bombs”.

I have never really worried about being hurt or killed by a terrorist after the 2001 incident — until yesterday. Now, I am weighing the idea of keeping my son home from school this 9-11. It is just another fundamental transformation brought about by President Obama.

Hey, they don’t have to worry about crossing into El Paso.

Gov. Moonbeam has invited them to come to Kulhifornia. Bienvenidos terroristas!

“Life’s a tough teacher. It gives the test first, then the lesson.”

Ignore the threat of Islam all you want, government officials. Muslims on the other hand are not going to be ignoring us. They said as such. Expressly. They acted as such. Expressly. Found on the list of Exhibit A are 9/11, Madrid 2004, London 2005, the Arab “Spring,” and more.

Muslims are going to be giving us more and more of life’s lessons, their Islamic lessons. Nothing grabs one’s attention like being hit on the side of the head with a 2 by 4. And from all appearance it will take more Muslim successful attacks against infidels with the loss of Western lives before more necessary lessons about Islamic ideology are learned.

Well, crap. There goes the neighborhood. I’m never going to get Fair Market Value for my house should I ever choose to sell….

All joking aside, and fair warning – If there is some sort of attack on El Paso, and I’m not here giving updates on it within 24 hours, assume that I was injured. Unfortunately there are a LOT of soft targets within easy reach of the border, where a lot of people could be injured or killed in an attack. There’s the Baseball Stadium, the Courthouse block, UTEP, Fort Bliss, the Airport, several medium-sized malls, an oil refinery … the list just goes on and on.

My office is less than 500 feet from the Federal Courthouse. Fortunately for me, there’s a building between the Courthouse and mine. My office is also just less than 1 mile from the border, and my wife works very close to the main border crossing bridge at the convergence of US-10 and US-54.

The Federal Courthouse and the County Courthouse almost sit on top of each other, and main City Hall is right down the Street. The County Courthouse has been struck before by cross-border bullets fired from Juarez. It’s an unfortunately tempting target area, although it’s less tempting now as City Hall has been split into several locations when they imploded the old city hall to build a baseball stadium.

Of course, if they manage to smuggle a nuke across and get it to Fort Bliss or the 601, it’s not really going to matter unless they detonate it at night. Then some of us might have some protection because there’s literally a 1000 foot tall mountain in between my home and the Base (El Paso looks like a giant “U”, with the Franklin Mountain Range bisecting the city north-to-south). All of Central, East and North-East El Paso would just be gone, though, even with a small 50 Kiloton weapon (“Fat Man” for Nagasaki was a 22KT weapon for reference).

The only upside here is our fairly constant West-to-East wind pattern. Any radiation will be fairly quickly blown out into largely uninhabited desert.

Oh, also FYI –

The soldiers of Fort Bliss have been ordered in no uncertain terms that they are NOT to go to Juarez. Not under ANY circumstances. Period. And they will be immediately Court Martialed should they violate said order (and survive) to come back.

This has been in place since the drug war was occurring 4-5 years ago. Every so often a solder will violate the order and go, and almost invariably you hear that person was killed in Juarez in a drug cartel skirmish which just happened to occur where that person was. I’ll let you draw your own conclusion as to why those skirmishes always seem to take place around any violating US Military personnel….

Lovely time for our Southern California vacation! The after that, dear husband gets to fly on September 11. I’d surely prefer a plan to an empty, brown suit.

Of course, a nuke would be awful. Literally awful.

But I don’t expect that kind of attack now. No, if I wanted to hurt America, I would attack several crowded shopping malls. That would do a lot to make people afraid, and would hurt our economy.

We rely on our electrical grid, and so much of that infrastructure exists in lonely places where I could come and go after performing whatever mischief I wanted to.

Years ago, I thought how easily a very small crew could shut down a major interstate with very little risk.

We are spoiled. We have never been put to the reality of war except for a very brief time following 9/11. Most of us have managed to push that back, out of our reality. A lot of people around the world have NEVER lived like we do…and we do it every day like hardship can’t touch us.

It can.

Thank you, pResident Zero – you’ve royally F’d up this once magnificent country, haven’t you? You are a sorry POS, and the blood of Americans is and will be on your pathetic, empty head.

Per NBC Nightly News: DHS doesn’t foresee any threat to the homeland.

From a rational point of view, the combination of DHS and NBC News saying we are safe is as good as a war warning.

I have had a CC for four years, and I think I’ve actually only carried concealed twice in that time. However, this 9/11, I will carry, and I would hope that all those countless CC permit holders would do the same. And if by chance is heard, inappropriate to time and place, a shout of ‘Allahu…’, before thee ‘Akbar’ armed citizens are moving to that sound prepared to use all the lethal force at their disposal!

Walker Evans in reply to Denis Keohane. | August 29, 2014 at 11:38 pm

I carry every day, and practice at the range at least monthly so being armed on 9/11 will just be another day in that regard. However, I do plan to have my long arms loaded and close at hand starting tomorrow and continuing for at least a week after 9/11.

Not really paranoid – just prepared and careful.

Denis Keohane in reply to Walker Evans. | August 29, 2014 at 11:46 pm

Agreed, and I’ll expand that 9/11 window! Paranoid is delusionally thinking that others are out to get you when such is not the case. It doesn’t pertain to others repeatedly proclaiming as dogma since the eighth century that they are indeed out to get you!

Why are people so dead set on being willfully blind? Judicial Watch has now announced that Islamic Supremacists are active in Mexico? As announcements go, that one begets only a yawn. It became clear over two years ago that fully automatic weapons were being shipped across Mexico’s southern border by groups linked to Al Queda; the idea that they were being imported solely for sale to drug cartels was a juvenile fantasy appealing only to fools and Democrats … if they aren’t the same thing.

Now that the “wiser heads” are finally awake – if indeed they are – maybe we’ll see some positive action being taken to secure our borders and an actual strategy developed for dealing with those who have declared themselves our enemies and sworn our destruction.

Maybe.

Hey, ISIS!

I’ll meet y’all at my ranch down in Brewster County. It’ll be a home game for me and my boys, so y’all can “bat” first. Be warned that all our rounds are lubed with good old Manteca pig lard. It makes a hot weapon smell like a fresh tortilla!
