If the Elizabeth Warren presidential train picks up steam, will Hillary raise the Cherokee issue?

Hillary Clinton should watch her back. If Hillary thought there couldn’t possibly be another Barack Obama ’08, she better think again

We’ve addressed this many times before.

Elizabeth Warren is playing the base perfectly. Stoking them up with class warfare and anti-Supreme Court demagoguery, yet playing coy to a presidential bid.

But her train is coming.  There is a groundswell of support for Warren, and Warren can shake so much money out of Democratic donors it would make Terry McAuliffe blush.

From The NY Times, Populist Left Makes Warren Its Hot Ticket:

After Senator Elizabeth Warren spoke at a luncheon in Beverly Hills, Calif., last month, women from the audience swarmed around her, many of them asking the same question: will you run for president?

Ms. Warren’s fiery speech at the national A.F.L.-C.I.O. convention this month set off even more excitement, with some union members standing on their chairs applauding and shouting out to her. And when she joined a MoveOn.org conference call this summer to promote her student loan legislation, 10,000 people got on the line — the liberal group’s biggest audience on any conference call in four years.

In Democratic circles, disappointment in the promise of the Obama presidency and unease over a possible restoration of the Clintons have made the senator, who was sworn in just 10 months ago, the object of huge interest and the avatar of a newly assertive, fervently populist left eager for a more confrontational approach to politics.

Ms. Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat, said in an interview that she was not interested in seeking the presidency. And despite talk of a draft movement among some activists, it is difficult to imagine her taking on former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Just as Obama tapped into Clinton fatigue, so too will Warren:

Warren is smart to stay focused on things other than Hillary right now.  The Clinton oppo-research machine may not yet have started digging through old archives in Oklahoma, but it will if it has to.

If Warren runs, you better believe that her Cherokee fakery will be an issue in the Democratic primary.

The Clinton machine will make the 2012 Massachusetts Senate race seem like the little leagues, and will put ElizabethWarrenWiki.org to shame for not digging hard enough.

Remember, it was the Hillary machine that first raised Obama’s birthplace as an issue.
