Foreign Policy Presidential Debate Night

Foreign Policy Presidential Debate Night

Starts at 9 p.m. Eastern.

This should be fun.  Obama has to attack Romney, he just has to.  The momentum is going Romney’s way.  A draw, nothing changes result is big for Romney.

In theory this debate has the least risk for Romey, but I think that theory is wrong.  Obama can hide behind classified information and so on, and pretend he knows more than he knows.

This is just an open thread for people to make their feelings known. I’m not going to “live blog” it.

And at the end, there will be an assessment.

So have at it.

Knock him out Mitt – he’s on the ropes. 😉

[…] the only ones watching and commenting. Powerline is on the job with a live blog of the debate. The Professor is also on the job and predicting an attack on Mitt Romney by the guy from Chicago. HotAir has an open thread: The third debate as […]

Hopefully “Fearless Leader’s” lies will catch up with him!

Here’s to hoping for more fireworks!

Batting practice for Mitt after all these failures.

Go Mitt, go! Keep calm, focus, and you will shine.

Arab Spring = rise in terrorism, oppression of women and religious minorities, and more bloodshed.

Careful, fellow posters.

It’s OK to hope for good things.

But as the prof observes, Obama is a master of obfuscation. And my own observation: Bob Schiefer, that nasty old leftist dinosaur, will be just as much in the tank as Candy the dope, except that Schiefer will be much more clever about it.

Safe? I don’t feel safe after endorsements from Castro, Chavez & Putin that support you Obama.

MUTE will be my favorite button on the remote control.

Funny, how Obama uses Bush’s ‘bring them to justice’ meme.

I like the naming of “radical Islam” by Romney. Naming it has been a real problem for blabby bobo.

Liar, liar – Obama didn’t lift a finger to help our guys in Libya.

Obama can hide behind classified information and so on, and pretend he knows more than he knows.

That’s been a central tactic in his career and he’s highly experienced at it. Hopefully, the shtick has worn thin.

(Recall that Hillary had Barry’s measure by the time the 2008 primaries ended, but she took him seriously just a little too late.)

Really Mitt? He is already sweating like a pig. He is going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory! He better step it up, that first answer was awful! I can’t go through 4 more years of this! Don’t his handlers warn against the sweating!

“I, and Americans, took leadership”?? What?

quiksilverz24 | October 22, 2012 at 9:09 pm

Some advisor told him to Not to mention OBL by name.

And here comes the litany of I, I, I…

Smart Romney – peg the war in Afghanistan & Iraq to Obama. He has failed as more soldiers have been killed under his administration than under Bush.

OMG the sweat!

Russian is helping in the middle east.

Yes, and we won the cold war with 80’s style foreign policy. Really, Obama – is this all you got?

nordic_prince | October 22, 2012 at 9:11 pm

“I’m glad you recognize Al Qaida is a threat” – that’s why you’ve been spiking the football about Bin Laden?

Obama, clearly you don’t believe Al Qaida is a threat, hypocrite.

Yeah, he’s going after Bush – funny.

Russia not a threat? Been checking the news much Øbama?
Wrong opinions? What about yours, Ø?

Back to his halting speech.

Obama is going to be aggressive, but his voice is constricted and his tone/pitch is higher and louder.

Obama you sound confusing.

Yes!!!! Putin back in your face Obama.

nordic_prince | October 22, 2012 at 9:13 pm

Haha – Romney got in the jab about “more flexibility” 😀

nordic_prince | October 22, 2012 at 9:14 pm

“clear to our enemies where we stand” – or where you bow, according to Obama

Yes, you’ve learned Obama as commander in chief that you are an absolute dunce.

Yeah. “As a C in C you have to be clear.” Go for it, Bobo, it woud be refreshing.
How Israel is our true friend, Obama? Sheesh

Is counter-terrorism providing arms through the Muslim brotherhood in Libya & Syria?

I liked the line from Romney – “We can’t kill our way out of the problems of the Middle East”. Also – Twitter alert – tons of people remark how snotty Obama sounded with the “Glad you agree with me line.”

Everything Obama is stating is contradicted against actual events. No lie can save you Obama.

QUESTION: I sense Schieffer has better control of this debate. Does anyone see it differently?

Two rescues for Obama from Schieffer so far. The guy who missed security briefings talking about this! We are already entangled militarily in Syria. Obama is giving weapons to Al Qaeda there.

Well, we’re a good way in, and it doesn’t look as though Romney is really denting Obama much. Obama lies, lies, lies.

So…batten down the hatches, and hope that Mitt can deliver better.

Hard to find responsible parties in the middle east right now. Islamic supremacists have now gotten a foothold in the Middle East thanks to Obama.

looks and sounds like a President to me

You lie, Obama. You said we are leading from behind. Obama seems to think the American people have no memory nor will hold him accountable.

Obama doesn’t want to put arms into “people’s hands that could turn against us” but we did that with Fast and Furious!!!!

Obama is attacking hard in regard to the “Status of Forces” agreement and on Russia. Romney smacked him with the “more flexibility” hot-mike comment and that Putin’s backbone would stiffen after the election.

Obama started by attacking Romney, but Obama has been defensive/aggressive.

nordic_prince | October 22, 2012 at 9:21 pm

Son of Carter, you’ve mucked up Libya beyond belief

Every time I hear Obama I just think, ‘you’re an idiot.’

The forces of “moderation” in Libya have become the allies of Al-Qaeda. That is who just attacked our embassy and killed our Ambassador.

#ObamaFail.

I’m sick of Obama’s quick responses. He just repeats himself.

schieffer doesn’t want romney to follow up on obama’s nonsense about libya?

nordic_prince | October 22, 2012 at 9:24 pm

“democratically elected gov’t in Egypt” full of muslim radicals – gee, thanks, just what the world needs

Democracy is mob rule – that’s why we have Muslim brotherhood now in charge of Egypt. Now Christians are persecuted and female journalists are raped.

I sense that Mitt is blowing it. Why’s he all of a sudden Mr. Nice Guy?

[Sarcasm} I wonder WHERE OH WHERE they got these “undecided” voters from in Florida.[/Sarcasm]

My guess is Broward or Miami-Dade County, as the “approval” lines go up every time Obama opens his mouth, regardless of what he is saying. (I’m watching it on CNN).

These young people in Egypt have been silenced by the Islamist’s.

ah yes so thats how they will do it ….obama talks and talks and talks and talks

Funny- you’ve been busy killing our energy capabilities Obama, not building them.

nordic_prince | October 22, 2012 at 9:26 pm

foreign policy, obama – we don’t need to hear how you’ve been hard at work destroying our own country, and need 4 more years to finish us off

American strength – Yes, go Mitt, go!

Wait, wait wait!!

I thought this was supposed to be a debate on “foreign policy.” Why is Obama going on and on about “nation building here in the US and neglecting building our nation.”

Oh, yeah. Because he had nothing to say about it in the prior debates and the JQ Public have abandoned him because he had no vision of a second Administration.

Obama is On The Ropes, so far, it seems to me. Weak, Powerless & Feckless rather than strong in the Middle East. Mitt just gives off more confidence, strength, energy, forcefulness, positive thinking, etc. Good Stuff.

JackRussellTerrierist in reply to NeoConScum. | October 22, 2012 at 9:35 pm

Are we watching the same debate??????? obastard not doing that well, but Mitt is too much Mr. Niceguy and not enough detail hitting obastard and his foreign escapades. What about the apology tours? What about ALL of it? What about the Al-Queda surge? What about obastard’s trade policies with China? What about Egypt? What about bowing to foreign leaders who don’t bow in return? What about ISRAEL??????? What about the slaps to our British cousins? What about all the foreign campaign money obastard has received?

    WHAT ABOUT IT, MITT????

Jack: Apparently we are NOT watching the same debate. Now, please, carefully, put the coffee down…Gooood…Now,ever-so-slowly step away from that mug. Goooood.

IF you’re looking for defiant high chair pounding, you are not gonna find it from Romney. Go over to Chrissy Matthews and the Infantile Brigade. Mitt is consistently giving off steady, adult, condidence and smarts. It makes The Boy King look silly by comparison–Shallow and Weak.

JackRussellTerrierist in reply to NeoConScum. | October 22, 2012 at 9:52 pm

🙂 Heh, okay. You’re right – to some extent. I want to see deep marks in the jugular. I admit my response to obastard is visceral. Everything he says is risible to me. But you must admit Mitt is coimg off considerably less in command than he did in the first two debates.

Funny, interrupt Mitt but let Obama ramble. How transparent, Mr. Sheiffer. I hoped I spelled that correctly.

ya’ll remember that vid that supposedly started everything a few weeks back ….it was done by a Coptic Christian …in Egypt they are burning Coptic Church’s and killing them on a weekly basis and obama has the balls to say that he is pressing them for religious freedom

Ask Obama about his “kill list” and his enjoyment in drone attacks.

Mitt, take the G-D gloves off!!!!!! DON’T pull a McCain.

Mitt giving a nervous and wimpy start.

Bobo wants to talk about “nation builing.” Huh? We have built a nation. He’s about nation destroying from what he has done.

schieffer doesn’t want romney to follow up on obama’s nonsense about libya?

then he cuts of romney just when romney is slicing obama’s throat on budget and security.

Holy crap…Romney was making a strong point, and Schieffer just interrupted Romney by waving his finger at him!

With you in charge Obama, America has weakened and our enemies know it.

The “men” catagory from Florida are a bunch of “Peaceniks.” The second that Romney said that he wouldn’t cut the military the “+” rating INSTANTLY tanked.

You lie, Obama. How dare you insult the American people this way. Oh wait, did he say his plan? He has one?

nordic_prince | October 22, 2012 at 9:32 pm

“our alliances have never been stronger” – who are you trying to fool? Maybe that makes sense after you’ve toked a few, Ozero.

whahahahahha. ” Our alliances have never been stronger. Says Prez. Now he’s on domestic policy to avoid foreign policy. Blah blah blah

The “Men” know Obama is lying, but the women seem to be buying the bill of goods that Obama is selling, at least on the foreign policy issues.

They both seem to be buying Obama’s BS on Energy.

Those green jobs are with companies that are now bankrupt.

Mitt…come on, man. Stop playing Mr. Nice Guy.

Slam Obama one. Then slam Schieffer when he tries to shut you up. This is b.s.

Obama is using reckless a whole lot – he is projecting. He’s the one whose been reckless. Wow, mention Bush & Cheney. Pathetic if that’s all Obama has. What a loser.

Romney look and sounds under the weather.

9thDistrictNeighbor | October 22, 2012 at 9:34 pm

Well, so much for foreign policy….

nordic_prince | October 22, 2012 at 9:35 pm

c’mon, this debate is supposed to be about foreign policy….

The Broadcast Weakness-in-Chief is idotically pressing the case that we must be ‘rebuilding at home’ and not getting involved abroad. Good Gawd, can you say Democrats 1972,’Yo??

Actually just laughed at Obama telling Romney he was wrong about small b usinesses.

Romney looked and sounded Presidential. Amazing observation about Latin America.

Obama in rebuttal: looks like a petulant student, scolding a teacher.

There’s retired teachers or teacher-related individuals in the CNN sample. That is the sole and only reason that the line can possibly be as high as it is while Obama is shoveling the BS he is.

nordic_prince | October 22, 2012 at 9:38 pm

Things Obama never learned in kindergarten – how to take turns.

9thDistrictNeighbor | October 22, 2012 at 9:38 pm

The reason American kids can’t do math is called University of Chicago Everyday Math

It feels like Obama is getting 2x the time of Romney. Probably not, but certainly significantly more.

Yay!! Obama is turning into the Biden with the laughing. Yes!! Keep it up Obama.

nordic_prince | October 22, 2012 at 9:39 pm

Welcome to the non-foreign policy debate, folks.

Juba Doobai! in reply to nordic_prince. | October 22, 2012 at 9:46 pm

Obama, and some of y’all on the board, don’t seem to understand the connection between foreign policy and economics. The latter drive the former.

Schieffer is giving Obama the final comments and not allowing Romney’s rebuttal.

Not impressed Romney. Not at all.

You claimed to cut the deficit in half Obama, what happened to that? You lie.

Obama is getting smirky, snotty, and interruptive–silly boy tactics. HIs voice is getting higher. He wants to show he is scrappy.

Yeah. CNN’s “undecided” voters are “dark-horse” Obama voters. They’re proving it with every answer between Obama and Romney where Obama is outright lying about his prior actions.

And yeah : Peace-nics. They all spiked the minute that Obama started discussing cutting the military and buying his “Romney is lying about budgeting” shtick.

Funny, he keeps trying to restate wrongly Romney’s plan while ignoring to state his plan, oh I forgot, there is none but the same.

nordic_prince | October 22, 2012 at 9:42 pm

I wouldn’t want to sit next to Obama – with all the whoppers he’s spouting, it’s a wonder lightning doesn’t strike him repeatedly.

Yes – Romney get Obama – facts are a beautiful thing!

Yes, do comment Obama, let’s see how good of liar you have shown yourself to be.

Omigod–horses and bayonets–so snotty and patronizing.

Ol’ Barack just interrupted Romney.

“Bob, I need to comment on this. I don’t like Romney hitting me over the head with facts about the Defense Budget.”

How insulting – what an a– really? Horses? My, my you have totally lost it, Obama.
