Obama is holding another press conference today, at 11 a.m. , with regard to the debt talks. The last press conference was an unmitigated disaster for him, leading one MSNBC talking head to drop the “D” bomb.
My take is that we will see a different Obama today, the conciliatory, serious, “can’t we all just get along” Obama. Because the real Obama isn’t working out that well.

Whoever shows up, he’s still a D***.
The Community Gangsta-in-Chief can’t help himself.
He’s gonna play the class warfare game hard today. Full court press cuz the objective is to make the GOP fold like wet underwear. Boehner is a teary wimp, but Cantor might have balls–sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn’t. Jake Tapper’s piece on last night’s talks is entirely presented from the Democrat point of view, and that gives insight into how the LSM will help Obama play this. Expect bombast and accusations, fingerpointing, sneers, lots of ‘c’mons’, blame Bush, and his usual unpresidential behavior.
He’s gonna show up super late so he doesn’t have to compete with Tiger Woods presser. Then true to form he will be a D***.
C. Professorial and condescending Obama
who will explain to the American people the heady concepts of paying fair share, spending our way out of recession, the goodness of Government and unions, the rapacity of corporate business except when expiated by campaign contributions to Democrats, and why the military should hold bake sales instead of taking money from the mouths of babes in order to fight only humanitarian wars, such as making Libya safe for extremist rebels.
He’ll patiently lecture us on how Republicans are intellectually and morally incapable of grasping the aforegoing obvious and that the Tea Party obsession with spending, deficits and the national debt is far-right radical economics which we should disavow lest we become racist, classist, sexist, isolationist, zeno/ homophobic heartless fascists.
That wasn’t one of the choices. Please drive within the lines.
Very sorry. “Accusing and demeaning,” then.
Come on, Professor! Aren’t we taught to color outside the lines? 🙂
“The Won” will show up today.
He made his offer .. $2 Tillion in taxes in return for future consideration of spending cuts (that will happen over his dead body) and a debt ceiling rise to cover him for the election.
The man is in campaign mode.
The stock market (^DJI) has opened down over 120.
They say it’s “The accusatory, demeaning Obama”
Our problem now is that it doesn’t matter which demeanor he chooses to exhibit because the man is a charlatan. Obama has no expertise in economics, he is simply acting the part in order to accomplish certain political objectives – and the benefit of nation be damned.
Are we talking about the guy who just admonished the GOP that “We are not a banana republic!”, the guy who has been imposing the Hugo Chavez plan of government on America?
Now that just about everyone to that “shared sacrifice” pledge in the Senate, Obama knows that the kabuki script has his winning in the end. The GOP is again playing their role as the Washington Generals to the Harlem Globe Trotters.

Gotta go with option B to play by the rules. He’ll try his “I’m the only adult in the room” schtick. This is all about his re-election, after all. But I think common tater’s option seems very plausible.
Senator Corker just declared on CNBC that these debt talks just aren’t serious and if the GOP leadership allows Obama ot hold on to the high ground as they have so far, especially this past weekend, it will set a new standard for incompetence.
Like I keep saying, it’s just another example of how the GOP’s accepted role with this leadership is to guard the Democrats’ rear.
Not sure which one will show up. The only thing I know with absoluste certainty is that whichever one does show up, it will be the one that he and his political team have calculated will give him the most political gain.
Everything, from wars, to troop levels, to his shifting political positions are all calculated political decisions, not what is best for the country.
Re ‘Who shows?’ . . . who knows, really. But professor, the margin of divergence of opinion from you on the part of your followers is striking. To what do you attribute that? (I voted with the majority.) “Campaign mode” notwithstanding, your ‘temperament’ observation of a week ago is what decided my vote. You left us no middle ground in the poll where I believe he may end up. Because his minions in the congress are as unpopular with many as is he, he has now has room to castigate them (mildly) as well as the Republicans and may take it.
We’re heading for the “Big D” bomb.
Class warfare wins again! Those evil millionaires and billionaires and their tax loopholes! “No one is talking about raising taxes!”
What a liar! Does Obama have a mental disorder?
Now he is making an “important distinction between professional politicians and the general public”. The general public, 69% of us, don’t want the deficit increased because we aren’t as informed, focused and smart as the politicians.
Pay attention folks. This is what dictatorship looks and sounds like. All of the textbooks and training guides these guys read present “the people” as ignorant unwashed masses who need to be told what’s good for them.
Wow, Obama must think this is important, he bumped network programming. ‘The Price is Right, Access Hollywood, The View”. People are asking, why is President Obama on my television??
I really want boehner to reject all of 0bama’s attempts to raise the debt limit and makes him sweat until nearly the last possible day.
milk that lil biatch 0bama for all he’s worth in the talks,
then reject it… so 0bama is forced to cater and cave severely (then repeat milking strategy 10-20x) milk him, lead him on …then reject it… it’ll draw closer and closer to the deadline…
0bama will capitulate more to whatever the GOP wants and more to boehner in that process …and start really getting nervous and sweating… 0bama needs this badly to keep the economy from tanking… or to give it the appearance that it is stablizing… so waiting to almost the last day is best in boehner’s case
he’ll make 0bama look the fool process, infuriate his leftist base as they see him cave to everything
& in the end that will humilate 0bama and embarass him
and he will always be seen aa ‘a caver’ (in the eyes of his own party) Giving them cause not to vote for him even more.
I was wrong. Con Man Obama showed up today.
@YourMaster, Weepy doesn’t have the balls.
Slightly off-topic, but is anyone else shocked by the persistent “static model” of increasing taxes = increased revenue? Why isn’t that assumption laughed right out of the discussion? Obviously, confiscatory taxes cause taxpayers to modify their behavior. At this point, why is the Radical-in-Chief even taken seriously?
