Worst Tweet of The Year

I’m generally staying away from “Best” and “Worst” posts, despite the gravitational pull on this date, but this one really, really needs to be remembered:

Let me guess: hardcore Lefty [i.e. total moron]

Reminds me of a comment this week on the Washington Monthly blog (truly a cesspit of liberal hatred, btw). I'm not going to bother going back there to get the exact quote, but the guy was angry about all the criticism being leveled at Obama in the wake of the recent terror incident. So he says (and again I'm paraphrasing) that the real problem is that Americans are crybabies who harbor unrealistic expectations about the government's ability to protect them against all the bad things that can happen to them in the real world. In other words, his solution to the problem of terrorism would be for all of us to lower our expectations of personal safety and learn to accept that x number of our countrymen will die every year at hands of Islamic extremists who feel like blowing up airplanes.

I thought this was a remarkable, and remarkably revealing, statement for a couple of reasons. First, the guy had clearly arrived at the conclusion that Americans are simply overreacting to the threat of terrorism because he couldn't stand seeing Obama being hurt politically by this issue. In other words, he's more worried about Obama's political fortunes than he is about the prospect of our children being blown to dollrags by islamic terrorists.

But even more than this, I was struck by the irony of a LIBERAL complaining about the excessive expectations the American people supposedly place on the federal government to protect them. What a crock of bull! It's the liberals who are ruining the country through their incessant demands that government protect them against job loss, the absence of health care, the consequences of their own bad decisions, etc., etc., etc. At least when Americans demand protection against terrorism, they are only asking the feds to perform a basic, core function of government. This clown apparently thinks government exists to provide jobs, housing, education, health care, meals, and spending money to citizens and illegal aliens alike, but that people should be left to their own devices when it comes to national defense. Unbelievable.

It's not so much that we expect the government to protect us from all terrorists. However, it does not seem out of line to expect to be protected from those the government knows about and who are not hiding.

I'm willing to bet that we'll see equally stupid tweets as Lefty apologist continue to maintain their rapidly fading hopey-changey fantasies…

I'm with Conrad. Yeah, Spence, it's not like the Undiebomber wanted to choose his own doctor or earn a profit or something. No need to panic.

"were spsd to be afraid of that?"
Well, yeah. I find it just a little disturbing. But hey, what do I know?
