Reince Priebus OUT at White House

Reince Priebus OUT at White House

Reince Priebus, Trump’s Chief of Staff, no longer has that position. He is being replaced by General (and Secretary of Homeland Security) John Kelly.

Trump announced the move in a series of tweets:

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/891038014314598400
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/891039237319143424
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/891040645581873152

How things have changed. Here’s Trump’s tribute to Reince election night:

The removal comes just a day after one of the most bizarre interviews ever given by a White House Communications Director. Anthony Scaramucci unloaded on Reince to Ryan Lizza of the New Yorker regarding a leak of a dinner Trump had with Scaramucci and Fox News journalists:

In Scaramucci’s view, the fact that word of the dinner had reached a reporter was evidence that his rivals in the West Wing, particularly Reince Priebus, the White House chief of staff, were plotting against him….

Meanwhile, several damaging stories about Scaramucci have appeared in the press, and he blamed Priebus for most of them. Now, he wanted to know whom I had been talking to about his dinner with the President. Scaramucci, who initiated the call, did not ask for the conversation to be off the record or on background.

“Is it an assistant to the President?” he asked. I again told him I couldn’t say. “O.K., I’m going to fire every one of them, and then you haven’t protected anybody, so the entire place will be fired over the next two weeks.”
I asked him why it was so important for the dinner to be kept a secret. Surely, I said, it would become public at some point. “I’ve asked people not to leak things for a period of time and give me a honeymoon period,” he said. “They won’t do it.” He was getting more and more worked up, and he eventually convinced himself that Priebus was my source.
“They’ll all be fired by me,” he said. “I fired one guy the other day. I have three to four people I’ll fire tomorrow. I’ll get to the person who leaked that to you. Reince Priebus—if you want to leak something—he’ll be asked to resign very shortly.” The issue, he said, was that he believed Priebus had been worried about the dinner because he hadn’t been invited. “Reince is a fucking paranoid schizophrenic, a paranoiac,” Scaramucci said. He channelled Priebus as he spoke: “ ‘Oh, Bill Shine is coming in. Let me leak the fucking thing and see if I can cock-block these people the way I cock-blocked Scaramucci for six months.’ ” (Priebus did not respond to a request for comment.)

Scaramucci has come under intense criticism for the profane tirade, though it endeared him to some Trump supporters. He tweeted:

How else is the Mooch’s week going? The NY Post reports his wife just filed for divorce. His response:

How did the dismissal of Reince go down? Apparently unceremoniously according to the “pool” report:

Though “sources” close to Reince say he resigned yesterday:

Reactions have been “interesting”:

I don’t think it’s coincidence that Reince is out just as Republicans in the Senate failed to pass any form of Obamacare repeal.

This could be the start of Trump going after and around congressional Republicans, particularly in the Senate.

I hope this ends most of the leaks.

I hope the White House now operates more smoothly.

This might prove to be quite helpful.

Plus, maybe the new DHS Secretary will END DACA.

Not a single shred of evidence exists that Priebus leaked anything. His only crime was his opposition to Scaramucci. But the leaks won’t stop anytime soon in the Trump White House.

I disagree, all signs pointed to him. But nevertheless, this wasn’t a trial. He wasn’t convicted. He just failed at his job. That is how it works. Priebus was warned. If the leaks continued, he knew with all of his RINO connections and loyalists in the WH that he was suspect #1. Having failed, he resigned. It’s not a matter of he leaking personally. He was the head of the fish that kept rotting.

A good start but keep firing until it stops. Eliminating the entire communications team seems inevitable. Let Mooch take the heat but get it done. That would finally allow the filling of jobs that haven’t been filled. Nothing is accomplished by throwing more people, however loyal and capable, into a rat’s nest. Get rid of the rat’s nest first.

I always thought Priebus was the source of most of the leaks. At the very least, it was likely his job to stop them. Hopefully this stops most of the leaks, but we will see.

No expert but as an observer lately it seems like Trump has decided to do away with anything and anyone from the establishment. That would explain his treatment of Sessions too.

His “maverick” behavior makes McCain’s look conventional. And who can blame Trump for being frustrated if not fed up with the entire system and people who believe, “that’s they way it is always done…”

Trump is a maverick because he got where he is by taking over the nomination single-handedly.

The democrat media describes McCain as a “maverick” to appeal to his vanity, so he continues to be their useful idiot still recovering from Stockholm Syndrome.

McCain is no maverick. He is merely a rat.

the other rob | July 28, 2017 at 5:33 pm

I had my doubts, when Trump appointed Priebus, but understood his desire to offer an olive branch to the establishment.

Recent events have made it impossible to pretend that that olive branch has not been roundly rejected.

Given that, it makes sense for him to say “I gave you a chance…” and bring in his own loyalists to replace them.

Agree – Trump wants results! Now time to call out weasel Senators and focus Trump supporters on electing new Senators that will deliver his agenda – not that of US CofC stooges Ryan & McConnell.

Well said Dallas Matt and the Other Rob.

Trump gave them more than a fair shake – but they FAILED.
      So now they’re all FIRED.

(Even if some Congress Critters won’t realize that until their next election.)

Guess Bannon’s days are numbered too. The son-in-law Democrat, Kushner, looks ready to fill the vacuum among the inner circle.

Republicans proved they are too dysfunctional to govern, so it looks like Trump may be preparing to go left.

Nonsense, the left won’t let him. (still too caught up with the Russia Russia Russia stuff) So Trump now has to go Freedom Caucus Right, they’re the only ones who will actually work for him.

Bannon is not the right – Bannon was just a publisher who got lucky and walked into an open chair when Breitbart died unexpectedly. There’s still a chance for Bannon; he just needs to start practicing saying “yes sir” and “no sir” a lot and always keep a can of shoe polish in his pocket in case Mooch walks into the room.

casualobserver in reply to MaggotAtBroadAndWall. | July 28, 2017 at 11:46 pm

Ha. That’s a comment rooted in emotion and not in evidence or fact. I’m sure he will move left on a position or two. So you will be able to extrapolate that into his moving entirely to the Democrat side of the aisle. Hatred really fogs the mind.

Firing Preibus, bringing back Corey Lewandowski, siccing KellyAnne and Gorka on the media, bringing in Mooch…. looks more to me like “fight club” Bannon is large and in charge. Trump went on the offense in a big way this week.

And I’ve been thinking about the Sessions situation too. Until Trump tweeted his “frustration”, wasn’t Sessions targeted by the “resistance” as the favorite cabinet target? He was a “racist”, anti-semitic” and the rest of the usual lies. So Trump attacks him and like Pavlov’s dog, the “resistance” jumps at the bait and salivates. Sessions is now safe. I doubt Trump was even thinking of firing him and his political enemies are protecting him themselves. Could very well have been a brilliant strategem by Trump. If Sessions is a team player, which I believe he is, he just took one for the team and now finds himself rid of the daily scurrilous smearing.

I love Trump’s tweets. There is a method to the madness.

      Agreed.

THIS is a great example of just how insane you are.

      Way to GO, big Filly…!!!

Priebus was a positive addition to Team Trump before it was so clear that the Republicans are almost as hot to sabotage the President as are the Democrats. Back then, he was a token of approval from the Party. But in the current situation a “token” is useless, so best to sweep out the Old Guard as completely as possible and replace it with something not quite so irredeemably hostile.

This is quite aside from Priebus’s own possible involvement with leaks.

Perhaps the move of General Kelly to Chief of Staff reflects what is happening in the world with Iran,North Korea and Russia. It is good to be prepared for the worst case scenario since there appears to be increasing need for that prep.

Kelly has had time to evaluate Homeland Security Department and brings that knowledge to the inner circle.

We’re going to need a Cuss Cup for news conferences.

This is fun… goo.gl/4iffGe and more fun… goo.gl/4KWbgC

Too Many Leaks
+ Can’t Get Trump Agenda Thru Congress
————————————–
Buh Bye Reince

This WH is rapidly taking on the “fight club” personality of Steve Bannon. This is how he made Breitbart so compelling. If you don’t feel it, I don’t want to hear it. When you are looking to duck punches from the guy in front of you, it’s hard to stab him in the back. Fight it out.

I am sure the NeverTrumpers believe that Trump had yet another bad week but that ain’t so. Far from it. Unless you believe that Congress failing to repeal McCainCare was a defeat. Nope. Next year, voters won’t be thinking that it was Trump who failed to deliver on a very important campaign promise but Congress. The enemy for 2018 is now clearly out in the open. Trump wins.

It’s just like when Trump signed “the pledge” and was the only one to do so. It only looked like Trump had fallen into a trap if you believed that he couldn’t win. But he won and the NeverTrumpers were born thus exposing the duplicity and mendacity of the Repubican Party. In this case, Trump put their noses right in the dirty pile and ordered them to stay until they “repealed” ObamaCare. Declaring victory for “bipartisanship” and expressly lecturing his fellow Republicans to disregard the grassroot voices being expressed by radio, TV and internet “loudmouths”, Trump can now not only bellow about the GOP blocking the will of the people, but that McCain and friends actually expressed in no uncertain terms their disdain for the message of the voters in the 2016 elections.

This is where Lewandowski comes in. We haven’t heard a thing about him since his return to Team Trump. That is because he a campaign organizer. This week was about setting the stage for an aggressive campaign to oust GOP traitors in next year’s primaries.

The objective should be to replace as many as possible while expanding GOP control in both chambers. They should pick up two senators with Kid Rock in Michigan replacing Stabenow and a real Indian running against Fauxcahontas in MA.

So now Trump is on the offense and playing his opponents like a fiddle. And most of this team is now in place. There should be another 4-6 people getting axed this weekend according to Mooch. I hope he cans them all. Even if the GOP loses control of the Senate, it’s about the House and the gestalt of the Tea Party wave that keeps coming back again and again.

To actually primary a significant number of GOPe traitors and adding to the GOP majority would be a titanic message of support for Trump. Especially if one of them is named Paul Ryan.

McCain, McConnell and friends are already moving on past ObamaCare as if yesterday put the issue to bed for good. Mistake. We are only getting started. If you thought we were angry in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016, you haven’t seen anything yet. It’s starting already. Can you feel it?

Get ready to r-u-u-u-u-u-u-m-m-m-b-b-u-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-e!!!!!!!!

Love the idea of primary challenges to the establishment RINOs. I love the guy running against Warren, too, but in that state of leftist lunacy, I don’t think he has a shot. Bernieites from all over the country will pour money into Warren’s campaign to save her from defeat.

As to Fauxcahontas, it’s too early to say but even in MA (where I’m from), anything can happen. Remember, she lost to Scott Brown originally. Shiva Ayyadurai has a better story and a Trump endorsement might help a lot. Like Boaty McBoaty catching the public’s fancy, “It takes an Indian to beat a fake Indian” could do the trick.

And today, polls show that Kid Rock has already shakened Stabenow grip with an early lead in the polls.

      http://dailycaller.com/2017/07/28/shock-poll-shows-kid-rock-with-a-huge-lead-in-the-michigan-gop-senate-primary/

With 28% undecided but leaning to Kid Rock, this doesn’t bode well for Stabenow.

So these are two Democratic Senate seats that could flip to Republican. There are others. And any RINO that gets primaried is no loss and should count as a flipped seat should the challenger go all the way.

The rino crap stains on the Oval Office carpet should be easier to remove than the smelly obama stains.

“Such biting wit: gripping and deeply impressive – if you’re five years old.”

    Such a one-note samba…and such a filthy little puke.

Could you PLEASE take your “I’m okay, YOU SUCK!” “Making enemies and alienating people” act someplace else? Where did you learn that insulting people with lies and obnoxious names persuades anyone to your point of view? Are you an evil child? Does your self-delusion come with a personalized costume that includes a silk cape? LET OTHER PEOPLE STATE THEIR OPINIONS! SHUT UP ALREADY!

Ragspierre in reply to Pasadena Phil. | July 29, 2017 at 9:23 pm

I do let other people express their opinions.

        Nothing I do…or would do…would bar that.

I WILL express mine. Nothing you do…though you would if you could…will stop me.

I don’t lie. You know this, and you lie about it anyhow. Like the other day when you lied about me calling you names. It’s just your knee-jerk reaction to anything contrarian, and especially if it hit you right between your glazed eyes. You just froth away, Filly.

        I LOVE IT…!!!

      “Such a one-note samba…and such a filthy little puke.”

I am hopeful that Gen. Kelly can impose some order and discipline on the West Wing, and thereby help to foster President Trump’s agenda. Why? Because that agenda is why he was elected.

That Vogel tweet has been deemed fake news. Apparently Pribus did indeed resign the day before and will be staying on for two weeks to help the transition.

inspectorudy | July 29, 2017 at 6:15 am

Other than the hatred that the msm hold for Trump, what all of the last six months show is a neophyte president and his inexperience politically. He is regaining his feet and knows that if you want a job done right you go to the people who have done that job many many times. Kelly has done every job given to him in his lifetime and will put the fear needed into this group of babies. We can all understand why Trump selected some of these people because he was reaching out to them after a brutal election. But his efforts were not met with equal intentions. The DC “Game” is to help yourself to a better position no matter who’s head you have to step on. Unfortunately, I do not think Scaramucci is the right man to do the job he has been hired to do. I think he and Kelly are going to butt heads real soon. I do not have to speculate who the winner will be.

Ragspierre in reply to inspectorudy. | July 29, 2017 at 10:14 am

“He is regaining his feet and knows that if you want a job done right you go to the people who have done that job many many times.”

Sorry. His appointment of Little Tony belies that whole theory.

BTW, Priebus has been suspect from the beginning. I would fire the entire communications teams and more and restaff from square one like FDR did in WWII at the suggestion of Churchill. Security starts with Number One and builds out one relationship at a time. That is how the CIA was created to replace the OSS and get the drama queen showboat J Edgar Hoover out of the national security spying business. Stopping leads is very doable. With a fresh smaller team, it should be much easier to identity leakers via methodology.

Ragspierre in reply to Pasadena Phil. | July 29, 2017 at 9:31 pm

“Security starts with Number One and builds out one relationship at a time.”

So does a culture of leaking, and Der Donald is Leaker Delux. Administrations commonly leak very much on purpose, and this one is tops.

National security has very little to do with “leaks” about a dinner with Seanenne Hannity. Nothing, in fact. Der Donald is just a narcissistic, sick child, and he actually believes everyone owes him “loyalty”. Even you can see what a one-way street that is…!!!

    Or probably not…
