MSNBC Analyst: Kelly Might Have to ‘Tackle’ Trump To Prevent Him Nuking North Korea

“Is Kelly the guy who’s going to say ‘yes, sir,’ or he is the guy who’s going to say ‘don’t do it’?”

https://youtu.be/riBq5ZLbYd0

On Joy Reid’s MSNBC show today, analyst Malcolm Nance floated a scenario in which President Trump decided to use a nuclear weapon to stop the North Korean missile-testing program. Reid asked whether Kelly would be “the guy who’s going to say, ‘yes, sir, or the guy who’s going to say, ‘don’t do it?'”

Replied Nance:

“He may have to be the guy that tackles him.”

That won a “wow” from Reid.

MALCOLM NANCE: When decisions that are going to be — could be intensely controversial or even dangerous to the United States — I mean, this North Korean missile tests that they’ve been carrying out. If Donald Trump gets into his head that he’s going to burn that program out of the ground, with perhaps a nuclear weapon, well these generals are going to have to be the ones that are going to have to explain what the consequences of that. Because his consequence management skills are null.

JOY REID: Is Kelly the guy who’s going to say “yes, sir,” or he is the guy who’s going to say “don’t do it?”

NANCE: He may have to be the guy that tackles him.

REID: Wow.

Trump seems to like brinksmanship, so I imagine that’s what he thinks he’s doing here. Whether the Norks cooperate in that narrative is another matter.

Part of the T-rump persona is his “Apha-male wannabe” side. What he is is a pathetically sick man-child who has done stuff that is downright comical to try to make himself seem potent, including adopting alter-egos to make claims to the press about who he’s dating and schtooping.

Here is the danger for the U.S. Korea may need belligerent action to deal with. But T-rump may need belligerence to “pwooove” how Alpha he is. He needs some adult handlers.

Rags, I can let a lot from you slide, but I draw the line at misspelling Yiddish words: schtupping!

        Oy vey. LOL

Ragspierre in reply to Mark Finkelstein. | July 30, 2017 at 12:59 pm

        Cute attempted deflection, Marky.

DID or DID NOT T-rump contact the press pretending to be his own
“client” to peddle stories that were both FALSE and concentrating on his sexual wonderfulness?

You can misspell anything you want IF you answer honestly.

Milhouse in reply to Mark Finkelstein. | July 30, 2017 at 1:01 pm

In what way is “shtooping” a more correct Anglicization of שטופן than “shtupping”? You can say your Anglicization is more common than his, but not that his is incorrect.

Mark Finkelstein in reply to Milhouse. | July 30, 2017 at 7:00 pm

Of course you’re right that it is simply a transliteration, but I’ve rarely if ever seen that spelling. Hell, I’ve defriended people for writing “Hannukah” instead of “Chanukah.” 😉

Milhouse in reply to Milhouse. | July 31, 2017 at 7:21 pm

It’s not a transliteration, it’s an Anglicization; it takes the Yiddish verb and conjugates it according to English rules. The Yiddish verb (in the infinitive) transliterates as shtupn; the “-ing” suffix is pure English.

But the point remains that there is no such thing as a “correct” spelling of such words. Hannukah, Hanuka, Chanukah, Channuko, Khanikeh, etc, are all equally valid. Which one prefers is simply a matter of taste.

    notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to Matt_SE. | July 30, 2017 at 12:45 pm

The Norks have to worry about Communist, Red China………

thumper62460 | July 30, 2017 at 12:21 pm

Never underestimate Trump. Many have and many have been burned. Recklessness is not one of his traits. Plain speaking is. That is, his willingness to NOT be PC and operate as one of the DC swamp dwellers is misinterpreted by the usual DC observers.

    Ragspierre in reply to thumper62460. | July 30, 2017 at 12:30 pm

“Recklessness is not one of his traits.”

Nope, that’s one of his BEST established traits. He’s really quite impulsive and careless, ESPECIALLY where he thinks some move will enhance his legitimacy as a whatever.

    Ragspierre in reply to thumper62460. | July 30, 2017 at 1:38 pm

“We have to take care of the women”.

IF that is NOT PC, you tell me what would be.

    Good flucking grief.

Recklessness is certainly one of Trump’s established traits, and it’s something to worry about. But why do both Reid and Nance take for granted that nuking North Korea would not be the correct decision? Why do they assume that Kelly would have occasion to “tackle” Trump, or that he’d be right to do so?

BTW I assume “tackle” is meant verbally, as in “to deal with (a person) on some problem, issue”, not in the football or hockey sense of a physical assault. Because in the end, no matter what Kelly’s opinion might be on such a decision, it’s Trump’s to make, and even if Kelly thought it disastrous he would have no right to prevent it.

4th armored div in reply to Milhouse. | July 31, 2017 at 10:12 am

if Kelly thought it disastrous he would have no right to prevent it.<–
he would be right to confer with the VEEP and Congressional leadership, if they disagree then DJT could be declared non compos mentis and have the VEEP take over as acting POTUS.

Milhouse in reply to 4th armored div. | July 31, 2017 at 7:26 pm

They could do that, i.e. there would be nothing to prevent them, but they would have no legal right to do so. They would be committing perjury and violating their oaths. The constitution only permits them to remove the president when they genuinely believe him to be medically incapable of functioning, not when they merely disagree with his decisions and think them disastrous. Having someone committed just because you disagree with them is what the Soviets did.

How is nuking NK less reckless than allowing the CIA to destroy Libya and Syria, employing the folks who airplane bombed New York City? And created a hoard of refugees that will, over a decade or two, destroy Europe.

These folks are idiots…no one is nuking anyone. We can crush N. Korea from thousands of miles away without luaching a nuclear weapon!

Utter garbage, thats all this is…

Um. In a word, no. North Korea is huge, rural, and has more guns and artillery pieces than the movie Tremors. They’ve built tunnels, bunkers, and hidey-holes for their toys, and have a huge number of them ready to fire into downtown Seol, AND several nuclear weapons.

“These folks are idiots”

Yes, but we don’t need to go to MSNBC for that when we get it right here – Rags soiling the thread and Mark “letting it slide”.

Kinda ironic for a post intended to criticize the media on just that.

Ragspierre in reply to Fen. | July 30, 2017 at 3:19 pm

    Awwwwww…. The puuuuur, puuuur iddy-waddams needs his WHHHHHAAAAAA-bu-lance STAT…again.

If I’m “soiling” the thread, why you can jump right in with your Chorox of T-rumpian truth, sucker.

Refute me. Com’on, mommy’s boi… Let have it with your lil’ ‘shooter’ there….

      bour3 in reply to Ragspierre. | July 30, 2017 at 3:29 pm

What is wrong with you? Whatever point you’re trying to make, however good that point might be, you ruin it yourself by these ridiculously childish sounds that write and attribute to others. You’re quite a remarkable idiot and you want everyone to know it. Unbelievably quarrelsome besides.

New rule: Skip over everything the purely malevolent Ragspierre writes here and elsewhere.

        Ragspierre in reply to bour3. | July 30, 2017 at 3:49 pm

        Oh. OK.

You make the valid points I make, and do it so nicely you don’t get slimmed by these cultist asp trolls.

I’ll watch and marvel at your wonderfulness.

        Really. I promise.

        “What is wrong with you?…”

        You can’t tell by now?

        Ragspierre in reply to bour3. | July 30, 2017 at 7:51 pm

        Ewwww….goody…!!!

OK, you cowardly, scum-sucking, lil’ slimball.

Instead of your usual practice of calling people names behind their backs, now you can give me a try!

        C’mon, SwineReports. Go for it…!!!

        Ragspierre in reply to bour3. | July 30, 2017 at 9:27 pm

boorish, I’m awaiting your show of wonderfulness…

        Tick, tock…

4th armored div in reply to Ragspierre. | July 31, 2017 at 10:27 am

you really do need a break from posting for a while –
you make valid points mant times, but your offensive demeanor makes it difficult to cut through the chaff.

grow up and act like an adult instead of feeling and acting childish.
if you feel so strongly about your opinions then start your own blog and have others validate you instead of attacking those who down thumb you,
this reply is intended for your benefit not as an attempt to silence you 😉

Y’all, please tell me something, elucidate me:

This fella that calls himself Ragspierre, he gives himself as a true conservative, no?
Methinks, he is a foil. His ad-hominems give him away as a true progressive.
And yet, the Professor tolerates him? It must be, ’cause this modern day “Robespierre” (as he no doubt sees himself) is a big help with the “ratings”. Am I far off the truth?

Ragspierre in reply to frankiefrank. | July 31, 2017 at 1:22 pm

Totally. Though it is true that I can generate lots of posts by merely stating an obvious truth.

That’s kind of an important function, don’t you think?

Wasn’t speaking to you Rag.

And we can’t play. See, for whatever reason, the blog owner and his staff allow you to attack commenters with reckless abandon, but the moment we attack back it’s “problematic”

You’re the bum stinking up the joint, picking fights with other patrons, driving away business, but the owner won’t let the regulars fight back and he won’t toss you out.

I think it’s due to Pity.

Don’t waste your time trying to one-up me the though. Every time I come here I see Rags still squatting over this blog waiting to spew toxic vomit at anyone saying anything supportive of the President.

And I think “Wow. This is his life now. How sad”. There really isn’t any insult you can make to top that.

Ragspierre in reply to Fen. | July 30, 2017 at 3:47 pm

You were speaking about me, darlin’.

You just the SADDEST of victims, huh?

Hey, say anything you can supportive of the POUTUS. Just expect to have to defend it.

You’re the baby whining about having to deal with opposition.

You see if you and the “regulars” can gang up and “kick me out”, snowflake.

Ragspierre in reply to Fen. | July 30, 2017 at 3:57 pm

Oh, and, Honey, did I call you a “whiny little bitch” just the other day?

Why, no. THAT would have been YOU. You poor whiny punk.

Now, whine some more. It is SOOOOOOOOOoooooo you…!!!

Although I’m at a loss as to why Professor Jacobson allows this.

1) If, as Rags insists, they really are old friends, it doesn’t make sense. A true friend would stop his buddy from publicly humilating himself, running around naked and shrieking about “T-rump”. While all that may amuse bystanders, a true friend would tackle Rags and throw him into a cab. Maybe even get him some help.

2) More importantly, there is a kind of social contract between a blogger and his patrons. But allowing one of your commenters to routinely attack the rest of us without consequence is disrepctful. And how can you expect us to respect you, your staff and your house rules when it’s obvious you have no respect for us.

Just doesn’t make sense to me. All the drama and disruption here at LI can be traced back to one guy. You don’t want us to fight back but you won’t toss him out either. Why are you inflicting him on the rest of us?

Ragspierre in reply to Fen. | July 30, 2017 at 4:18 pm

    1. You’re a lying SOS, or a completely delusional T-rump sucking schizophrenic. I’ve never made the claim that Prof. Bill is my frind, or that we’ve ever met. Post a link supporting your lie.

    2. There is no such “contract”, snowflake. You come here and post shit. I come here and refute it.

    Fair all around, mommy’s boi.

You don’t like “disruption”…??? You then like homogenized bullshit, and you admit you can’t deal with opposition.

    What a limp member…!!!

tom swift in reply to Fen. | July 30, 2017 at 4:22 pm

All the drama and disruption …

It’s not disruption. It’s noise; like radio “static”.

Unlike the signal, noise carries no information. So don’t look for any.

Ragspierre in reply to tom swift. | July 30, 2017 at 4:23 pm

Well, I never look for any from you.

      And I’m never disappointed…

Ragspierre in reply to tom swift. | July 30, 2017 at 4:27 pm

Oh, and Tom NOT-Swift, TRY to deal directly with the questions I pose.

You’ll find they are the last thing from “noise”. So far, in fact, you won’t be able to deal with them honestly unless you challenge our own biases.

But, knowing your as I do from your post, I don’t expect that.

Here’s a novel idea, Fen: if you find Rags’ comments so offensive, don’t read them. Simple.

If you don’t like “drama,” then don’t participate in it.

If you don’t like disruption, stop disrupting.

It’s really quite simple, and I’ve never understood why you think this is some earth-shattering issue that you apparently can’t cope with in any meaningful or constructive way. I’m sorry that you’re back in Rags Derangement Syndrome land, but that’s on you, not us.

Momma has to protect her cubbie.

Ragspierre in reply to garybritt. | July 30, 2017 at 7:57 pm

        Oh, no! Gary (The Liar) Britt…!!! What’ll I DO…???

Bring it, Gary. Whatever you think you’ve got, it ain’t nutin’.

You’re a lying, T-rump sucking ANTI-conservative, and you know it.

And I’m here to tell the world.

(BTW, did you wanna call Fuzzy a “whore” again…??? ‘Cause that was just so Alpha and T-rumpian and ererythag…)

Aw, you’re so delightfully predictable, Gary!

Actually, I was responding to Fen’s post directed to LI. As weekend editor, that’s part of my job. But I wouldn’t expect you to understand something that simple. Why read Fen’s diatribe against LI and expect that I’d be responding in my capacity as weekend editor when you can feed your Rags Derangement Syndrome with inane taunts?

Da Nile ain’t just a river in Egypt.

Only a deranged Rags protector would be supercilious enough to try and coin a phrase about Rags syndrome.

No syndrome is needed to quickly grow tired of Rags childish inane posts and poor behavior or to recognize your protection of him for what it is.

Ragspierre in reply to Fuzzy Slippers. | July 30, 2017 at 9:09 pm

…and yet, all you’ve got is a bunch of bullshit and name-calling.

          Where’s the guns, Gari…???

The Friendly Grizzly | July 30, 2017 at 4:35 pm

Wait… what was this thread about again?

No. You are “protected” by the blog owner, Rag, for whatever reason. You throw feces at every one without consequence, we push back and get cautioned or banned by the mods.

It’s a double standard.

Like when I told you to eat a shotgun – you cried like a little girl to the Professor.

I’m simply explaining the problem to give the Professor and his staff an opportunity to do something about it.

If they refuse, that’s fine too – I get to play by your rules not theirs. And every thread will get driven into the gutter.

I’d rather abide by their rules, but not if they aren’t applied equally across the board. I’m not the type to tiptoe around the drunk hogging the bar and it’s rude to demand that of me.

Ragspierre in reply to Fen. | July 30, 2017 at 4:52 pm

“Like when I told you to eat a shotgun – you cried like a little girl to the Professor.”

Wow. You retain a bright, bright memory of stuff I can’t recall at all.

Why don’t you put up a link, Whiner? I don’t “cry” to anyone, but I kinda DO take some blog-o-spherical umbrage to being told to kill mysef’. Seems…I donno…kinda over the proverbial top.

But something I can readily believe you’d say, Whiner.

I never even bitch about a “double standard”. I can deal with you punks. C’mon, honey…!!! BRING IT…!!!

Tom: “It’s static”

It’s all static – the attacks AND the counter-attacks.

So, if you would ask me to ignore the attacks, I would ask why you can’t simply ignore the counter-attacks.

Else, you are asking of me something that you won’t do.

And, just for the sake of context this fine morning, here’s where the attacks started, and not FROM me…

https://legalinsurrection.com/2017/07/msnbc-analyst-kelly-might-have-to-tackle-trump-to-prevent-him-nuking-north-korea/comment-page-1/#comment-770440

Fen really has his thong in a knot, and it won’t come out…

Please? Somebody fill in this new-comer:
This fella here, calling himself “Ragspierre” (Robespierre, newly resurrected?) methinks he not a true conservative as he gives himself to be, his ad-hominem rants have the mark of a typical liberal. Am I wrong?

Ragspierre in reply to frankiefrank. | July 31, 2017 at 1:15 pm

100%, starting with “newcomer”. I’ve been here for years.

Ragspierre is the OPPOSITE of ROBESpierre. Get it now…???

I make many more arguments than ad hominem attacks (you don’t really understand the fallacy), but I will identify people who lie (which is not ever an “ad hominem” fallacy).

You, OTOH are new here. You should spend some time observing. I’m one of a very few actual conservatives here, and I’ve been consistently one for many years on this site.

I get called all kinds of things by people who cannot deal with what I say. Read, and you’ll find that to be true.
