New Liberal Narrative: DeVos Doesn’t Care About Civil Rights in Education

“inquiries to identify systemic issues and whole classes of victims will be scaled back”

If you’re wondering why President Trump’s Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos needs millions of dollars in security, this is one of the reasons. DeVos is trying to make improvements in her department but is being predictably cast as someone who doesn’t care about civil rights.

Erica L. Green writes at the New York Times:

Education Dept. Says It Will Scale Back Civil Rights Investigations

The Department of Education is scaling back investigations into civil rights violations at the nation’s public schools and universities, easing off mandates imposed by the Obama administration that the new leadership says have bogged down the agency.

According to an internal memo issued by Candice E. Jackson, the acting head of the department’s office for civil rights, requirements that investigators broaden their inquiries to identify systemic issues and whole classes of victims will be scaled back. Also, regional offices will no longer be required to alert department officials in Washington of all highly sensitive complaints on issues such as the disproportionate disciplining of minority students and the mishandling of sexual assaults on college campuses.

The new directives are the first steps taken under Education Secretary Betsy DeVos to reshape her agency’s approach to civil rights enforcement, which was bolstered while President Barack Obama was in office. The efforts during Mr. Obama’s administration resulted in far-reaching investigations and resolutions that required schools and colleges to overhaul policies addressing a number of civil rights concerns.

This is why DeVos is making the changes:

That approach sent complaints soaring, and the civil rights office found itself understaffed and struggling to meet the department’s stated goal of closing cases within 180 days.

The office’s processing times have “skyrocketed,” the Education Department spokeswoman, Liz Hill, said, adding that its backlog of cases has “exploded.”

Many of the same people who will be outraged by this news have stood silently by as speakers on college campuses have been shouted down by left wing students for years.  What does consistency matter when there’s a narrative to be advanced?

And of course, right on cue, an investigation is being launched.

Emma Brown writes at the Washington Post:

U.S. Commission on Civil Rights to investigate civil rights enforcement under Trump

The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights voted Friday to investigate federal civil rights enforcement under President Trump, with the majority expressing “grave concerns” about the Trump administration’s proposal to cut spending and staffing on civil rights efforts at multiple agencies.

“Along with changing programmatic priorities, these proposed cuts would result in a dangerous reduction of civil rights enforcement across the country, leaving communities of color, LGBT people, older people, people with disabilities, and other marginalized groups exposed to greater risk of discrimination,” the commission, an independent watchdog created by Congress, said in a statement of concern approved on a 6 to 2 vote.

The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division would lose 121 positions, and its stated priorities do not mention fighting discrimination against LGBT people or people with disabilities, according to the statement, which also identifies deep cuts to programs at Housing and Urban Development, Labor, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Legal Services Corporation, which provides legal aid for low-income people.

This is the way it’s going to be for the next four to eight years, folks. Everything the Trump administration tries to do will be depicted as evil and uncaring.

The new “American Media” (an oxymoron) narrative?

Who cares. It’s news for idiots and cultists, not the rest of us.

Greatest election ever, thanks to two morons: obama and the other idiot, clinton, that he bet his entire leftist farm. ANYBODY with a brain would have known better than to do that.

obama really is as lame as most of us here believe he is.

This is a preemptive attack on Devos to set *anything* she does back at least a few steps. If she comes out for more oranges instead of apples in student lunches? Racism. If she favors ten minutes more of recess in grade school? Racism.

If she strips out Title IX stupidity and does the kind of cuts to the civil rights office that *need* to be done…

Yeah, they’re going to scream like banshees.

Doesn’t matter at this point: they are all the girl who identifies as a boy who identifies as a wolf who cried on itself.

      So right!

The “Left” is long gone bonkers, and it makes no difference now – but to do the Right Thing!

Public school and university administrations fear that tax payers are realizing 100% of all their school management is UN-NEEDED. It could have all been replaced 10 years back, even, with technology. Just give parents and the local community complete control over hiring, firing and reviews!

Every attempt to reel in this bloated bureaucracy will be met with vicious attacks, especially by the media, based on alleged injury to ‘protected’ (translation: preferred) classes. Just standard leftist BS based not on things that actually happen but things that ‘may’ happen. It’s always a zero-sum game to them, unless we are adding to the bureaucracy and budget.

I’m pleased that the Administration, for the most part, does not (yet, anyway – please forgive the bit of cynicism creeping in) seem particularly cowed by the media vultures.

Interesting, but the left and the GOPe have blown their wads, so to speak, and not only to no effect, but to the effect that Trump is now more popular in their poisonous environment than that ass obama ever was, even while wearing any of his media diapers.

Soldier on, Secreary DeVos.

When will President Trump appoint a permanent head of ED’s Office for Civil Rights? Will the appointment require Senate approval?

Everything the Trump administration tries to do will be depicted as evil and uncaring.

That simplifies things.

If everything the Trump admin does is opposed, and opposed in the exact same way with the same fabricated arguments, then … it doesn’t matter what the admin does. So Trump might just as well do whatever he wants—the PR hit will be identical no matter what that is.

“The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights… an independent watchdog created by Congress… The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division would lose 121 positions… The Department of Education is scaling back investigations into civil rights violations…”

The Department of redundancy department needs to get bzzzzy cutting out the fat.

The US Commission on Civil Rights is headed by Catherine Lhamon, one of the behind the scenes people who helped gin up the University of Virginia fraternity rape hoax. She worked in the Obama White House for a time and was rewarded with the chair spot on the USCCR in December, 2016. How convenient, eh?

Lhamon is a member of the deep state, a hard left progressive, and a nasty political type. It’s no surprise at all that she’s putting the USCCCR into play here.

This is about featherbedding.

“That approach sent complaints soaring, and the civil rights office found itself understaffed and struggling to meet the department’s stated goal of closing cases within 180 days.”

That’s because the Left claims _everything_ is racism. They wind up flooding the department with hundreds – if not thousands – of frivolous and bogus complaints.

If everything is racism, then nothing is.

By all means let’s have another investigation. By all means ramp up the racism charges. Because the American People weren’t all ready sick and tired of all the b.s.

The left’s never ending outrage over everything is interesting to only those that are outraged by everything. Or at least pretend to be.

There are genuine instances of racism. But I wonder how many of us will bother to read about them since the left that cried racism has cried it all too often.

I loathe Obama. Always have – always will. I feel the same way about Chuck Schumer. Always have – always will. And for the same reasons. Hyperbolic liars. Nothing to do with their race.

So, the Secretary of Education does not want to support “Science Deniers”? Sounds good to me!

Judge people by the “content of their character”, not the “color of their skin” ([class] diversity). Civil rights organizations, minority leaders, and Democrat Party hardest hit.

LGBT are all conditions on the transgender spectrum.

[class] diversity (i.e. judgement by “color of skin”) is racist, sexist, congruent (“=”).

Oh, human life evolves from conception. Protect the wholly innocent who are marginalized through sexual education, then disarmed, decapitated, and cannibalized by Planned Parenthood et al.

The strong desire for unearned abundance is a powerful addiction. Change the laws and normalize an entitlement mentality, perfect props to undermine a powerful country. Obama and his ilk need to somehow be prosecuted and imprisoned, shown to be the moral and ethical reprobates they are. It’s long past time to Red Pill our nation…OR…we can have this:

“This is the way it’s going to be for the next four to eight years, folks. Everything the Trump administration tries to do will be depicted as evil and uncaring.”
