Marxist Wisconsin Prof Makes Six Figures Teaching About Inequality

“An Introduction to Social Science in the Marxist Tradition”

Members of the inner party never have to do without anything. That’s for the little people.

The Daily Caller reports:

Marxist Wisconsin Professor Rakes In $170,000 Per Year Teaching About Inequality And Oppression

The University of Wisconsin-Madison offers a sociology course informing students that capitalism creates “a world of great misery, inequality and oppression” that “is irrational in ways that hurt nearly everyone.”

Erik Olin Wright, the well-heeled professor who teaches the graduate-level course, rakes a sweet annual salary of $170,000 per year.

The MacIver Institute, a free-market think tank, obtained the syllabus for Wright’s course by way of a public records request. The course is entitled: “Class, State, and Ideology: An Introduction to Social Science in the Marxist Tradition.”

The affluent professor’s course syllabus, which goes on — and on — for almost 80 pages, declares that capitalism “generates harms” and “generates injustices” which “can be broadly grouped under three rubrics: exploitation, domination and irrationality.”

Marxism, on the other hand, is an “emancipatory social science” that seeks to “fulfill the goal of generating critical social scientific knowledge relevant to the task of challenging systems of oppression.”

“Human emancipation” is the goal of Marxism, the fat-cat professor explains.

I know one in a small Western Massachusetts state collegy (now “university”) that pulls down six figures, plus extra money for online courses, that is the single most unaccomplished “scientist” I have ever had the displeasure of seeing. His “research” consists of counting vermin on a Caribbean island, and filing his Facebook page with pictures of sunsets and empty beer bottles. Not a single publication in over twenty years. 12 hours of contact with students a week. Of course, he has tenure. In a real university, he would have been laughed out of the place within months. A true disgrace to the profession, IMHO.

Blah human emancipation was enough to give me flash backs to one of my upper division political philosophies classes. I can still see the fizzie gray haired lady with a thick, but surprisingly unpretentious grounded sounding French accent.

The capitalist system offers some physical freedoms while it cages the spirit.. How does one get a Ph.D in political science while calling yourself a Marxist without reading The Gulag Archipelago. Because we know all three of those things don’t happen.

I am very confused, or maybe most of the readers and the author of the piece should take the class from the University, because you all seem to be under the erroneous belief that if you are a communist, you don’t get paid. Do you really think that people who live and work in a communist system do not get paid? Wake up and learn something about the communist system – people still get paid. Teaching about communism has NOTHING to do with getting paid! To make that link implies to the ignorant, that communism means NO pay, and that is just flat out wrong.

The only place marxism thrives is in this parasitic relationship it has with its host capitalist countries who are too stupid to recognize that relationship.
