Video – UCLA student melts down after anti-Israel resolution defeated

Tears and screams from anti-Israel BDS movement after stunning defeat.

We covered the defeat of the UCLA divestment resolution earlier.

Here is a video of how a student council member note taker, who apparently supported the resolution, reacted (the sound on the Google Hangout live feed (via Daily Bruin) was low, so turn up the volume):

(Note: I have learned that the student was not a council member, just someone taking notes, and have corrected the text.)

No. If for no other reason then if you could understand her words, and comprehend what she was saying, you would loss 20 IQ points

I just want to smack her. The guys around her are completely emotionless and stiff, thinking…”who the hell is this whiny chick and what the hell is she ranting about, can’t wait to smoke another joint”.

Best case of having the vapors that I’ve seen in a long, long time.

I think she was an on the floor grocery floor protester.

Truly funny. Nothing gets bellylaughs for me — deep, schadenfreuding mirth — than weeping, wailing leftists. May our future be filled with them.

No, you don’t want them on the streets. It’d be Occupy all over again. You want them in the salt mines with their heads down doing something productive.

Is she dropping f-bombs? Man, the lack of character in the younger generation is astounding.

The only intelligible word in this pathetic lamentation is “like,” dozens of times. This poor child is a poster girl for Progressive culture — the solipsistic self pity, the emotional incontinence, the idiomatic mantras, the twisted idealism.

Her tears of unfathomable sadness are delicious!

Remember…

THEY are the rational ones. (Just ask them.)

like, does she, like, think that, like, anyone is, like, listening to her as she, like, has a breakdown cause, like, others don’t, like, believe what she does, like, do they know that, like, the world is going to, like, come to an end. And if it, like, doesn’t, like, does anyone, like, wanna hire me for, like, a job?

Do these students not know how to speak english?

people are getting hurt and we could have stopped it….NOT
delusional fu*k*ng hippie.

It’s like looking a nazi cry that they didn’t succeed for long. They’re not much different than nazis in trying to boycott, the only difference is instead of Jews now the “cool” thing is to boycott Israelis. They’re sparking hate rather than trying to help resolve the problem.

Out of that entire 2 minute babbling blubbering diatribe of horrific pain and suffering verbalized through that mentally defunct woman’s cake-hole, other than two or three words along the way I could not understand one complete sentence of what that deranged morally bankrupt vile creature actually spewed except one, single complete sentence near the end —

The Whole World Is Crying Right Now…”

Pathetic. Disgraceful. FOUL BIGOT!

And everyone else sits there acting like it’s perfectly normal and ‘OK’, because ‘she’s just expressing herself’.

The self-indulgency of the entire room is disgusting.

Her board members should have intervened
“Calm Down … Get a hold of yourself” … (from Airport)

I’m guessing that had she been accompanied by a couple of like-minded people, they may well have tried to disrupt the proceedings.

It would be a good idea to have security on standby the next time that committee meets.

Awww …

Poor little girl is having a BIG sad because she wants everybody to hate the MEAN JOOISH people only they won’t hate them with her and now she’s soooo sad that the MEAN unfair world won’t do what she wants.

Awwwww…

In all fairness, as an undergrad in California, I reacted much the same way when the odious bottle and can tax was implemented.

Was that a headscarf she was wearing? Come on, girlie. If you really hate Israel you know you need a suicide vest.

Her parents must be so proud…..

I feel stupider just having listened to the first half

How are the people on the board keeping a straight face? It seriously looks like someone pretending to be a douche throwing a fit!!! LOL

no pretending involved I would bet.

Is there a name for this poor, immature child so that future employers know to ask her whether she’s grown up yet before offering her a position?

(Yes, I’m in a slightly nasty mood today, can you tell?)

Nothing wrong with your sentiment: Leftists always try to destroy the lives of anyone who deviates from their dogma. It makes good sense to make their evil opinions dog them as they try to build careers in a world where many employers do not care for whiny little Stalinists.

Her “Studies” degree will tell future prospective employers all they’ll need to know.

I hope she’s not an art major. She’d have double hernia after this.

It stings to be vocally on the wrong side of history.

Her wailing sounds like Dorothy when she was on the other side of the rainbow missing Aunt Em. Speaking of which, liberals like this chick really are on the other side of the rainbow. California spends how much on their public education system? And this is what they produce!

I can understand why the people she supports make people like her wear burkas and shut up.

LibraryGryffon | February 26, 2014 at 1:31 pm

I think a lot of the board are just waiting it out, having probably had to deal with her for a while, and figuring that if they say anything or react it will just make the whole mess longer and more unpleasant. I thought I saw a variant of the face palm to (our) right of her about half way through.

Couldn’t see because of her open laptop – was she wearing a pajama onesie by any chance?

She has earned the Blackadder Salute:

Imagine being married to that.

Now that that was funny!

Does UCLA have a Psych Ward?

Special snowflake weeps.

Hmmmm…bad time of the month, perhaps?

To the girl in the video, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I have played this video at least 10 times. I just can’t stop laughing. How embarrassing for the University that this a college student.

I am fantasizing Winston Churchill is still alive and preparing to comment

Believe it or not I found her in another youtube video, on a different topic and complaint, but I’m 99% sure it’s her:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHmvkRoEowc

Is Imbesilly a word? Can it be a word please? Can her picture be next to it in the dictionary?

Sounds a bit fake to me, wishing for a closeup to see if the tears are real or not. This young woman needs to get out more.

This young person had a very public meltdown that she will no doubt regret. I am a professor and I work with these young people. University students are indeed adults. But they are still young, they do have vulnerabilities and have much to learn. They continue to need and benefit from good adult guidance and mentorship. I do not know what the person is saying on the video but one possible explanation is that her emotion is a response to the many hours of hearing very vehement and upsetting testimony and accusation. In a sense perhaps she is a victim of this horrible BDS movement, forcing these young people to waste their time and ensnare them into the BDS swamp. Time is so precious and to have to spend it responding to the BSD falsehood and aggression when there are so many worthwhile causes in the world is terrible. More resilient students could shrug it off and be realistic but this particular student is obviously terribly naive. Perhaps I am an eternal optimist but I hope she will reflect on the experience, be angry at the BDS movement for manipulating her emotionally and end up a responsible adult and a strong supporter of Israel. If I was her parent we’d have spent all day on the phone! Let’s hope she has good mentors that can help her and give her perspective.

Juba Doobai! in reply to RuthC. | February 26, 2014 at 9:32 pm

Perhaps today’s over-indulged and self-indulgent college students, abundantly ignorant about pretty much everything no matter what their grades say, should focus on studying both sides of everything they encounter in the classroom. That way, they would learn enough so they could shun the peddlers of Communism, Islamism, and anti-Semitism.Who knows? If they study English, they might even learn to speak it.

jeannebodine in reply to RuthC. | February 27, 2014 at 12:14 am

I am sorry, I can’t excuse her. My parents would have been horrified had I exhibited this kind of behavior even in elementary school. Certainly by middle school and high school, it was expected that I would use self control and maintain a basic standard of public decorum.

Why should high emotion and feeeeeeelings be an excuse for all types of unacceptable behavior? It seems to me the time for coddling is long past by college. Our society needs more shaming and less tolerance of this type of disruptive and inappropriate acting out.

And don’t even get me started on her “cause” which is vile – if she is wailing like that, I can picture her at at a rally, her face full of fervor and hate. No, thanks, I’ll count this one out as a lost cause.

nonna in reply to RuthC. | February 27, 2014 at 5:09 pm

I admit I laughed at many of the comments here, but I also have compassion for the young lady. I would hope that she will grow in wisdom, but immediately it looks as though she needs a mentor to help her avoid those who prey on the easily conned.

Wow. Ummmm, like this was, a pretty funny clip.

HEY UCLA PARENTS, IS THIS YOUR KID?

Like, get her outta that BDS “club”…

She’s being BRAIN WASHED!

Like oh my gawd totally

Was that an audition for MSNBC?

[…] Students at the decidedly liberal UCLA recently voted not to divest from Israel and Legal Insurrection found the video. […]

huskers-for-palin | February 26, 2014 at 11:36 pm

Failure of the parents, failure of the schools, failure in her ability to reason and think. She’s so far down the rabbit hole of hate she can’t even see the light.

This…is…a…lost…soul.

This is where suicide bombers come from.

It is Janet’s fault . She was sent to Sochi & her only breakout comment was that she would have liked to have been a figure skater.

Where can UC go from there? It is all over & Janet just wants to have fun .

As someone who was one of the main organizers AGAINST divestment at UCLA, I DEMAND that you take down this video. This woman, although she may have differing views on the conflict and supported divestment, remained completely impartial during the entire meeting as the minutetaker. After a 12 hour, extremely emotional meeting, she broke down. You are DOING A HUGE DISSERVICE to the cause by keeping this video up. We do not need to gang up on a 20 year old woman, regardless of what she believes in, to make our case.

PLEASE TAKE THIS DOWN.

    Demand? LOL

You’re a main organizer at UCLA? lol, ok.

I’d love to hear your assessment on who has done the most to fight off the BDS movement, you or the owner of this blog.

Oh.. very important.. when your demand is not met, please take video of your response, because I sense it may be very similar to the useful idiot crying in the video you ‘demand’ be taken down. We could use more laughs.

LibraryGryffon in reply to AvinoamBaral. | March 1, 2014 at 8:47 pm

I understand that a 12 hour meeting can fray tempers, but no matter the seriousness of the disappointment, I do not think I have comported myself in public like that since I was two, maybe three. Neither have either of my daughters. I was brought up to behave as an adult, to deal with disappointments and to realize that having a temper tantrum like a small child denied a piece of candy in the check-out line does not advance your cause, and will indeed turn people off of it who might otherwise be sympathetic. Of course I was also taught to use facts rather than emotion.

If that is how she reacts at 20 to a high pressure situation, if I were her employer in 2 or 3 years, what guarantee would I have that she would not have a similar meltdown?

You demand? This young misguided lady is the embodiment of the BDS movement and if she behaved this way in any Middle Eastern country except for Israel would most likely have been taken out and been stoned or hung for her outburst against authority. This is a perfect example of what anti-Semite ivory tower professors are teaching our youth and the entitlement mentality of progressives. “I will throw a tantrum unless I get my way, waaaa”. You demand? You actually sound like an entitled prog yourself.

After seeing this, and the correction that she was a scribe and not a voting member, I couldn’t help but be reminded of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwbFmnPG6dM

She’s got a lot of opinions, and they are some pretty twisted rainbows and unicorns. This makes a heck of a case for the absolute obscenity of the current cost of a college “education”.

I sense that Mr. Baral has personal first-hand knowledge about the context of this short video clip.

If he truly is who he claims to be, and can privately convince someone on this site of that – just of that question of identity, nothing more – then I would err on the side of decency and lose the vid.

If you can understand her, her words have no passion only a whiny on going and on going drone about something which she is probably incorrect about.

I consider myself a very solid supporter of Israel and the Jewish People. I am currently fighting anti-Semitism in Court http://youtu.be/8WydH3mwcrc http://www.kosherslaughter.com

I think this woman’s outburst represents the reason why we are losing the war for hearts and minds, notwithstanding this victory, which should have never come to a vote because the whole BDS movement is so hateful and false.

The enemy’s message, though false and hateful, is resonating among college aged people because it is simple and appeals to the emotions. We must counter with our simple message that also appeals to the emotions. Talking about a League of Nations grandfather clause regarding the Palestine Mandate will be largely ignored.

Getting to the emotions of people like this hysterical woman, by showing Israel is surrounded by brutal, savage, medieval ruthless dictatorships, that murder woman as part of honor killings for example, will get to the hearts of the people we are trying to win over.

We can’t be afraid to fight this war on an emotional level. It is essential. Did you choose your significant other based on your heart or your mind ?

This is an excellent point, if one looks at the on-line comments in the student UCLA newspaper about this issue, there is a comment from and Indian (presumably Hindu) student who complains about the terrorism of Pakistan and goes onto say that the issues in the middle east are of no personal concern but he sees students being anti-Israel in order to be “trendy”. So it is almost down to the idea of needing an advertising campaign.

As the parent of two college-aged children, my only comment is that this is a shocking display of immaturity and self-centeredness.

If my son or daughter spent his time at an elite University like UCLA engaging in such histrionics, I would stop paying tuition.

Young lady, grow up! Have you never been disappointed in your life before?

Lastly, did you really think that a student resolution would change the lives in the Middle East one iota? You lost your ceremonial vote. Move on. Go back to your Gender Studies curriculum.

Annnddddd the video’s been pulled, all over the web. Apparently she’s not too proud of the meltdown.

Anyone know who pulled the video?

WHY IS THIS VIDEO PRIVATE? I would very much like to see it. I’m sorry, but when you are in attendance at a PUBLIC meeting, you check your privacy rights at the door.

And:

Martin Kramer:
Gaza is a place with no Israeli settlements, from which Israel has totally withdrawn to the 1967 lines, and which nonetheless has become a Hamas terror state. That’s what happens in conditions of Gazafication. So when people say that in a two-state solution, Palestinians would have a “right of return” to the West Bank and not Israel, I do not find that particularly reassuring either. Any influx of Palestinians across the Jordan poses a problem for Israel, and it is naive to dismiss it. I would like to hear how, in a two-state scenario, Gazafication of the West Bank can be prevented. I haven’t heard it yet.

Neither have I.

Read The Haj by Leon Uris. And ask these questions:

What year did the nation of Palestine come into existance?
What were its national borders and what year did it cease to exist?
What currency did the nation of Palestine use and why is there no history of it?
Name one leader to the “nation of Palestine” prior to Yasser Arafat.
