Reports: George Zimmerman arrested on domestic violence charge (Updates – 911 calls, Arrest Report)

NOTE: 911 audio and Arrest Report at bottom of post

Update: Here’s the Mug Shot and arrest confirmation:

George Zimmerman Mug Shot 11-18-2013

That’s the report from multiple media sources. Ironically, just a few days ago Lake Mary prosecutors decided not to charge Zimmerman after an indicent with his wife Shellie and her father in early September.

George Zimmerman arrested on domestic violence charges:

Channel 9 has confirmed George Zimmerman has been arrested on domestic violence charges in Seminole County on Monday.

The disturbance was at a residence on Topfield Court in unincorporated Apopka, although authorities haven’t said what exactly happened.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said Zimmerman will be booked into the John E. Polk Correctional Facility.

No other details have been released.

There is a long history of accusations against Zimmerman not holding up, so we’ll update as there is more information.

Updates:

Oh boy, not only was no shotgun “available” (see tweet above), but the woman allegedly lied to the 911 operator; could this be another case of Shellie-like exaggeration? Via TMZ:

2:14 PM PT According to the Seminole County Sheriff, the woman was not pregnant … but we’re told she told the 911 dispatcher she was. The Sheriff says the woman claims Zimmerman pointed a DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN at her, pushed her out of the house. He then allegedly barricaded the front door with furniture.

Is this Corey exacting her revenge? Regardless of what happened, the narrative will have been decided long before the facts are available. I always knew Zimmerman’s life was ruined, but I never imagined it would be at the hands of a vindictive polity.

I have no idea what happened here. Is Corey behind it or did George Zimmerman make a very costly mistake? I suppose we will find out.

One thing I am certain of, Zimmerman should have never stayed in Florida.

I do not mean that to sound like I am prejudging Zimmerman (I am not). I just do not have enough facts to know whether this is a frame up or not.

Eventually one of these frame-ups will stick. They will not rest until Zimmerman is in jail or (preferably) dead.

They’ll be happy with taking his guns away from him. If Florida is like Hawaii (where I was a cop), if you are convicted of DV you lose your weapons.

Heck, if the girlfriend (girlfriend?!!!) gets a restraining order against him, same thing happens. Bye bye guns. Used to happen to cops in Honolulu from time to time. Estranged wife, girlfriend got a restraining order and the cop is next on desk duty. I’m sure it happens all over the same.

NavyMustang in reply to NavyMustang. | November 18, 2013 at 4:56 pm

Actually, now that I think about it, we could take away weapons at the time of arrest if “the police officer had reasonable grounds to believe were used or threatened to be used in the commission of an offense under this section.”

In practical terms, the weapons were taken.

That’s in all jurisdictions now thanks to Clinton’s Violent Woman’s Protection Act AKA The Violence Against Women Act.

I listened to the 9-1-1 call. The woman didn’t sound frightened, she sounded angry. I also don’t recall hearing her say that GZ hit her or anything, just that he pointed a shotgun at her and locked her out.

After what happened at his house with Shellie’s family, and Shellie’s previous TV appearances, George should simply be laying low – no women, no booze, no speeding, no big purchases, nothing. He should focus on his education, career, holding a low-profile job to make ends meet, minding his own business and reconditioning his body and health. He should go fishing with friends, rent movies, get a gentle dog and see if he can take it for a walk without something bizarre happening.

He needs to wise up and start avoiding the kind of people who want to use him for their 15 minutes of fame.

Just wise up and chill, George!!

MSM: “Oh man! This is exactly the kind of distraction from Obamacare we need right now!”

Prepare for an onslaught of media coverage.

I for one won’t jump out in Mr. Zimmerman’s defense. Yes, I believe that the Trayvon Martin trial was a total railroad attempt, and yes my gut tells me that certain people in this country will not rest until this man is in jail or dead. But honestly we know too little about the incident to jump to conclusions. Just because Mr. Zimmerman appropriately used self defense against Trayvon Martin, doesn’t mean that he is incapable of acting like a total idiot elsewhere.

Oh I agree. You can’t swing a dead cat without smacking a jerk-face these days. But Zimmerman gets an extra-helping of “innocent-until-proven-guilty” from me.

Guys! WRT domestic violence, we know only this about Zimmerman…

    he is innocent by law.

In the real world, who knows yet? Let’s all hope for him he lives a happier life than…say…Rodney King. No person of good will would hope for anything beside that. (And, for a sample of the CONTRARY view, visit your favorite moonbat site.)

Innocent at law does not mean innocent at public opinion (although we should give those accused the benefit of doubt). But if this is all he said she said without something more, I am skeptical.

Agreed Vet. Put this democrat in prison already.

Oh boy, here we go again.

“GZ comitted DV ! So it only makes sense that he murdered TM and it wasn’t out of self defense !”

Looks like the dead horse is going to be getting beat some more.

is there some statute in Florida that prevents bail? Wonder what the reason is.

Unfortunately, whatever the merits, this will be used to try the case all over again. the next jury may not be so committed to actually listening to facts, or believe in following the actual laws.

Getting ready for another round of anti “Stand your ground laws” scribblings by those from the left (yes I knowthe trial had nothing to do wwith stand your ground, facts don’t stop leftists)

In Florida, an arrest for Domestic battery, unlike most other crimes, you will not be able to post a bond and get out of jail until you appear before a judge. So what that means is that if you are arrested for a domestic violence offense, you will sit in jail until you are your “first appearance” hearing.
There is a lot of heat on law enforcement to put a stop to domestic violence. When they receive a call, they can arrest the accused regardless if there is any credible evidence at the time of arrest. Since there are often times no other witnesses to the event, they have to take the word of the supposed victim as factual information at the time of arrest.

Here in Beaufort county SC everyone taken into custody sits in jail until a hearing is held. Fortunately we have 4pm and 9am hearings. Anyone turning themselves in is advised to do so before 1pm so that they can be processed in time to make the 4pm hearing.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Zimmerman WANTS to be in jail. As far as I can tell, he has very little quality of life, no job (who would hire him?) and probably scrounges around for “girlfriends”. He’s hounded daily by cameras and people are looking to get him arrested – so why not make it happen? Three meals a day, clean clothes…just saying…I think he tripped himself up on purpose.

theduchessofkitty | November 18, 2013 at 3:36 pm

As I said before, he should have left for Russia with his family and asked for asylum a long time ago.

I agree. He had two choices, I think. Either become a culture warrior and go after the Left, i.e., become a movement leader, or just leave the country. He’ll never rest easily here again. America is becoming an ugly and remorseless place.

Agreed. As I noted during and after the trial, if a foreign government treated Zimmerman like the US government did, he would have been entitled to political asylum in the US under the appropriate American legal standards. His brother has the poise and stability to defend his family and act as a political figure; George either never could or is too broken now to do so.

A domestic violence conviction will render George a former gun owner. The anti-gunners are looking for any excuse, and not just with George.

Carol Herman in reply to G. de La Hoya. | November 18, 2013 at 8:50 pm

Small problem-O. The cops need the lady to be a witness.

So far, here, someone said her 911 call did not sound as if she was terrified. She was ANGRY!

You tell me there are no criminal defense lawyers who’d step up to help Zimmerman at his hearing?

You think every law school graduate wants to become a prosecutor? Can’t sell that one to me.

He’s in jail overnight. He has “canteen money” theydidn’t refund to him the last time. He’s has $144 to spend on snacks. The hearing judge? I bet he’s getting his (or her) hair done, now.

Don’t think the judge will be Shirley rediculous half-nelson. We’re gonna get to see another one of Florida’s “finest.”

    Where did the gun go?

COPS CAN’T SEEM TO FIND THE GUN!

Whose paying the rent on the house this woman lives in? What does she do for a living?

Sure seems Zimmerman, like Alec Baldwin, gets to play “tag” with the media. (If you were Mark O’Mara. Or Don West. Wouldn’t you have tried to call George Zimmerman while he’s locked up?)

Oh. This breakup doesn’t involve divorce court.

Not that there aren’t idiot judges in this world. We know they’ve been to law school. And, we know they couldn’t hack a decent living as defense attorneys.

It gets even funnier if Shellie shows up at the hearing. Why not? Cameras tend to bring out the “best” in people. (Ready for your closeup?)

[…] is, as William Jacobson notes, a history of charges against Zimmerman not turning out to be […]

No comment(s). I’ll just wait.

You should all do the same.

Just sayin’…

Estragon in reply to Exiliado. | November 18, 2013 at 9:38 pm

    Exactly correct.

Zimmerman being innocent in the Trayvon Martin case means nothing about any other charge. If it’s bogus, then once that is determined it should be investigated.

But we shouldn’t be assuming anything when we have no facts. That’s what Crump and Sharpton and Corey did in the Martin case. Be better than them.

If I were in Zimmerman’s shoes, after dodging at the very least a manslaughter conviction, then starting a divorce, the last thing I’d be doing is dating. I’ve seen too many women that have agenda’s unrelated to building a relationship. All to easy for a girlfriend to scream domestic abuse, just for some publicity. Oh yeah, he’s had numerous face time with cops since his acquital, including his wife alleging domestic abuse. The guy is a slow learner.

JackRussellTerrierist in reply to richardb. | November 18, 2013 at 7:30 pm

Agreed. George still doesn’t seem to grasp the evil around him, especially coming from the left and the gun-grabbers in particular. He just doesn’t understand the size of the target he has on his back.

That jail wants to make sure he’s kept isolated, because there are plenty of inmates who’d see punching Zimmerman’s ticket as the ticket to their own in-house reputation and power. (I know county jails don’t hold the no-reason-to-care lifers, state prisons do, but the bad boys coming out of court on their way to prison go to county jail first).

On second thought, perhaps this FL jail might like to see him exposed to the GP.

Don’t forget that several law enforcement officials have made it plain that they will get Zimmerman, no matter what. The police chief of Lake Mary, for one.
The best thing that he can do is leave the state of Florida. The powers that be want to see him in jail, and will not rest until it happens.

In most places any call involving domestic violence must end in arrest of at least one party. By default if they cannot determine who the aggressor is, they take the male. Forget about probable cause or evidence, they take the male, that’s standard procedure. Knowing that and the previous bogus complaint, as well as the political coercion to punish this man for not letting a drug addict murder him, I would say caution is warranted before rendering any judgement.

One thing is for sure: Zimmerman’s on somebody’s $h!+ list ~

Humphreys Executor | November 18, 2013 at 5:08 pm

Didn’t he have a “bail” violation when he was awaiting trial before? If so, that may be one reason why he was denied bail at his initial appearance this time. Presumably he will get a prompt hearing to review bail conditions.

my guess is that he’s lost his last shred of sanity.

Wonder if he needs a change of meds. He couldn’t have endured what he did without being medicated (and he sure looked sedated in his courtroom pictures), but given all the connections between antidepressant/antianxiety drugs and suicides and crimes… makes you wonder.

Obamacare, Fast & Furious, Benghazi, NSA…oh look, George Zimmerman. Meh.

One article said that the police “are seeking a search warrant” to look for the guns. If it’s her place, why can’t she give consent?

I wonder if Mark O’Mara will come out of the woodwork?

How come Zimmerman doesn’t call Don West?

Criminal lawyers just stand by when there are cameras rolling?

Nope. NO weapons were found! The girl friend gave the cops the front door key. They went inside … and found George. And, arrested him on the female’s “say so.” BUT THEY DIDN’T FIND THE GUN … Let alone one with a “double barrel.”

Now they want a “search warrant.”

Maybe, the “little lady” can go out and find a gun to plant?

She was worried that Zimmerman broke a glass table.

As if break ups don’t involve escalations!

Good thing that George did not kill that woman!

No O’Mara or West to this time around. A felony conviction is really going to hurt that self absorbed bully with a gun. I loved his fabricated 911 story(s)! The 911 operator was like: The police are there now? So why are you calling me, I am the police, Moron!

Tomorrow George will lose his right to own and carry a gun, and he is going to have a GPS leg monitor as well – again. Poor thing, everyone just wants to punish poor George; but all he wants is exactly what? Why does this man keep doing things like this?

The arrest report doesn’t say a word about Zimmerman’s side of the story. It doesn’t even indicate whether or not he said ANYTHING, or whether or not he was asked any questions. Nothing. It’s ALL about the girlfriend’s accusation. Is this normal for an arrest report re: a domestic violence allegation?

http://www.docstoc.com/?docId=163563358&download=1

I suspect this reflects George’s most probable realization that shutting up and staying shut up during an arrest is likely to keep him out of jail in the long-term. I mean, can you imagine what headlines can be sculpted out of even the shortest remarks once the media distorts them through their funhouse mirror?

Let’s see. George moved into this woman’s house in August. And, today was packing to leave.

They quarreled. He says SHE broke the glass table. That SHE threw things around to break. And, she ended up outside. (With a key to get in.) And, her cell phone.

She dials 911. Within 3 minutes cop cars arrive. Along with the media!

Drudge hasn’t touched this story! So far it just remains local news.

Yes, people have lots of experiences splitting up. This woman can’t point to a single mark on her body. And, IF you listen to the tape you become aware of her anger. AND, the fact that she knows the call will go viral.

Meanwhile, it’s remaining a local story.

Charging “domestic violence” when you don’t have a mark on you … doesn’t exactly add up to a case the prosecutors can use to throw the book at Zimmerman. Or even keep him in jail.

Oh, and his two traffic tickets for speeding don’t count, either.

Does George need to find another place to live? Yes.

He’s not inexperienced at finding girlfriends. He found this one while he was still married to Shellie.

Next time he should find a dame who can’t speak English. Phone calls to the police? A Spanish call wouldn’t get translated.

Today, the judge who will preside tomorrow, went out for a haircut. Just in case photographers show up at the courthouse.

This is a classic he said/she said. The report mentions nothing that makes one of them more credible than the other. But the first sentence of the second paragraph labels her as the “caller/victim”. (Police should use the term “complainant” or “complaining witness” rather than “victim”.)

So how does a jury determine guilt beyond a reasonable doubt?

    JackRussellTerrierist in reply to myiq2xu. | November 19, 2013 at 9:12 am

It may be “he said, she said”, but if she told 911 she was preggers and she isn’t, she shot the hell out her credibility.

The police report. ( Via Orlando Sentinel )
http://media.trb.com/media/acrobat/2013-11/341461500-18144528.pdf
I started this post a while ago,but I had to go do things, then I decided to listen to the two calls. It changed a lot of things. Why were three cop cars sent out? A lot of times with calls like this it takes a half hour to get one cop car out.

One thing that is clear. If Zimmerman gets out of this scrape ( and there is no reason he shouldn’t ), he should leave the country until the end of Obama’s term. Go to Peru, or if he can’t go there go to Canada, and even there be very careful about the friends he makes.

In the US it is easy for someone is angry with George to start throwing around accusations of being threatened with a gun, and police are going to overreact everytime someone makes a call. Especially since there are a lot of people hoping he be found guilty of spitting on the sidewalk so they can give him the death penalty.

As for the rest, we’ll have to wait and see.

Can’t help think that this guys life is out of control. What would not surprise me is that he would attempt or commit suicide at some point.

I thought they were dealing with Corey? What happened there?

Hm. Does a 3 minute response time for the police sound a little like there was a car or two in George’s vicinity anyway? Maybe for his protection, or maybe not, who knows, but it would be interesting to match the location of the officers responding to George’s location over the last two weeks, do you think?

I agree with the previous commenters that those guns are gone. He’ll never get them back even if he had video of the whole incident that proves him as innocent as the new-fallen snow. Prosecutors don’t like it when they are thwarted, and George laid a nice big ‘thwart’ upside Florida on national TV. Time to move, and never go back, not even to go to Disneyworld.
