Tomorrow

Tomorrow

Thanks for your comments on blog format for Election Day.

You came down pretty much were I was — not thrilled with those “live blog” formats like CoverIt Live (which has priced me out of contention).  There are alternatives, but I think I have something better.

We will have an embedded Twitter feed based on those in my newly created Election Day 2012 list.  That group include several major news sources, some MSM news personalities, and penty of conservative bloggers spread around the country so that we should get updates on most of the key races.

In addition, there will be a sort of “live blog” format for the Authors here and from College Insurrection.

In all likelihood both the Twitter feed and the Author feed will be in a single post.

The key thing is, you will be able to comment on that post in the normal fashion, and the comments will be in reverse chronological order like in the Tip Line, so the most recent reader comments will be on top.

Put it all together and I think we will have the best of the “live blog” format of updates from around the country via the Twitter feed plus Author updates, without the drive-by problem from the usual live blog format.  Reader comments also will be permanent.

Some things still are up in the air, but I probably will do a morning or mid-day feed/post, more than anything to make sure it works!

Then the real deal will go live around 6 p.m. Eastern, since the first polls close at 7 p.m. Eastern.

See you tomorrow.

Ditto. Gentle Jack and I are going to get together tonight (my doctor would have a spasm, but oh well). Might even, after voting tomorrow, pick up a good cigar or two. Go to the range. Come home and wait for results.

OK, Captain! (Don’t forget to vote).

Professor, thank you again for all you do.

Pretty amazing: we’ll know tomorrow about this time whether our way of life will remain, or will we need to fear posting on blogs for want of a visit by a Richard Trumka goon send by the White House.

If we prevail, we can never let anyone forget the bullet we dodged.

If we lose, the first order of business for us is to see to it the boot is given to that cowardly failure to John Bohener and a warrior is installed in the GOP Speaker position. Imagine where we’d be now if that happened in 2010.

have not decided what I am going to do. can put up a page with incoming twitter feeds in seconds so will probably just do that and pull your feed also.
or I’ll just watch tv and read yours LOL

Not sure what you mean by first polls close at 7 pm (earliest closing time in the East?)

I recommend revising that wording, after checking to find out the last polls close time so that folks aren’t confused or take it that all polls are closed at 7 pm (I know they should look and find out for themselves but just in case . . . humor me.)

IN Pennsylvania, the POLLS DON’T CLOSE UNTIL 8:00 p.m.

those registered voters in line at 8:00 will be allowed to vote. so if you’re late but can get in line at or before 8 pm do so.

Here is wiki listing all the opening and closing times.

Look up your state’s rules online elsewhere just to be sure.

Sounds like a great idea for a format.

I’d still have preferred the living room live webcam, though.

Well, if it’s a good day tomorrow, how about a backyard webcam showing the Professor shooting off fireworks in the back yard?

I’m afraid that leaves me out. I don’t do social media.
