Andrew Marcus, producer of Hating Breitbart, After Election 2012: WWBD — What Would Breitbart Do?

Everything that Andrew predicted in my film, Hating Breitbart, played out in real-time during the election right before our eyes.  From Candy Crowley interrupting and taking Obama’s side in the debate to George Stephonopoulous’s introducing the ‘war on women’ narrative in the primary debates, members of the so-called mainstream media did everything they could to re-elect Obama and they were successful.   And many of us are, as Andrew so often was, righteously indignant.  Some might even be feeling hopeless, tired or defeated.  And while I can understand a temporary crisis of faith, I believe Andrew would refuse to surrender to a defeatist attitude over one election loss. He understood that the true fight is with the Mainstream Media and Institutional Left and that they don’t get ‘elected.’ We must bring the fight directly to them relentlessly.  That was always his fight and that does not change with an election cycle.

While there are many excellent media watchdog groups, it’s not enough.  A much more aggressive tactic is required.

Really for the first time I saw how deeply corrupt the media is in connection with the Massachusetts Senate race.  Under the guise of news reporting the Boston Globe tried to cover up unhelpful narratives and to push narratives which helped Elizabeth Warren.  Most of the Massachusetts media was no better, including the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly which refused to update its article quoting the Mass Board of Bar Overseers General Counsel, and the local CBS News political guru Bill Keller who tried to portray the Cherokee women coming to Boston as a mere political ploy.

These people do not deserve any respect as journalists, they are political operatives who masquerade as neutral.  I prefer honest Daily Kos bloggers any day to dishonest journalists.  They deserve to be treated with the same disrespect with which they treat the news process and conservatives.

I agree. I said on other sites, we must “watergate” the media. Do a background check on their history & associations. I wasn’t surprised to hear Petraeus” wife worked for Elizabeth Warren. We need to know who is married to whom & who do they work for. It’s time to go “Hubble” on them – meaning its time to magnify who these liars are. It is #WAR.

    First of all I’m of Mexican descent. My niece use to live with me and she is getting sent this magazine called Latina – well, it is free, 148 page magazine owned by Latina Media Ventures LLC – I normally toss this but didn’t this time. In it was the basic pride in your culture, you should be proud to speak English (I do, but it isn’t my first language), stuff about beauty, fashion, culture, and guess what else? It has several stories about Democrats & even a story about the illegal who spoke at the DNC. This magazine is being mailed for free.

    The one thing I suggest and I’m working on creating a portal of some sort, but I suggest that blogs and conservative writers translate themselves into Spanish. I know and agree that people need to learn English, but unfortunately the democrats have convinced and made things easy for people not to. We need to infiltrate. Rush suggested that he should consider translating his show and putting it out on Spanish radio channels. Bing, Bing, Bing! Yes!

    Breitbart, The Blaze, other conservative blogs need to translate into Spanish – it is needed. I’m going to contact the Heritage Foundation and suggest they start printing our founding documents in Spanish and handing them out. They do have a website http://www.Libertad.org that is great if anyone employs or works with Hispanics perhaps telling them about this website will help.

    As this magazine shows – democrats continue to try to control the culture with the help of the media. Fox is heading that way as it’s reported in this magazine it is creating MundoFox – a joint venture with Colombia’s RCN television group. ABC in partnership with Univision is getting into the fray. Comcast is in the mix along with yuk yuk Robert Rodriquez’s action-centric cable channel El Rey (The King) that will hit in 2014 remember he made Machete, what a joke of a movie. The magazine calls this the Latin Revolution. Conservatives should own this revolution.

    I fear while conservatives are worrying on how to regroup after this loss – we need to get on top of this.

    I recall that Gingrich has an organization that has focused on the Hispanic population. I’m going to try to contact him and tap into that resource. It isn’t as hard as people think.

    Like I said, yes, there are Hispanics who love Santa Claus, but there are many more who like hard work and don’t want to owe anyone or want to be owned by anyone especially the govt.

    In this magazine, you have advertisement from Dolce and Gabana, Channel – these are products Hispanics normally can’t afford – so why are they wasting their time in advertising to them? Hummn.

    It is time for conservatives to end the language barrier and thrust into it its ideas and beliefs. Conservatives will win. Believe me you will. I was won over having voted for Clinton & Gore.

    I almost forgot to mention, last week a woman who was Hispanic called Rush saying she tried to offer for free her assistance as a PR marketer whose focus is the Hispanic market – but no one ever called her back.

    There are many Hispanics like her and I. Many we need to change up our game. We will win this #WAR.

After sending my tired-flattened-bleak-pissed-cold riddled comment at 11:34am on the Prius thread, I needed and welcomed your post here. NOT in my WASP American nature to “give up” on anything that I KNOW to be right & honorable.

I have come to Loath and Despise the MSMs. They got their wish. Obama, the most incompetent, ideological, destructive, slothful varlet to hold the office–EVER–has won, and they saw to it. ANYTHING we can do to sabotage them as a species is good by me.

“The big GOP money should henceforth divert at least a tiny fraction of the dough it poured into Karl Rove’s useless American Crossroads super PAC and its ilk and establish its own, alternative media (not Fox News) that functions both as a sword and shield against the decaying, corrupt journalistic establishment. After all, the Republicans lost with the super PACS, and they can just as easily lose without them, and at a fraction of the cost. —In my perfect world, LI, Instapundit, Powerline, Michelle Malkin, etc., would all come together and, with conservative venture capital backing, start a media outfit to rival FOX … as the conservative alternative to FOX. NBC has a more liberal alternative, doesn’t it?

Sheldon Adelson would be better served putting his money into something like this.

    I have this problem with that whole notion (which I like, too)…

    Fox has a “fair and balanced” business model, which they seem to pretty successfully realize. They are the most popular of the cables, yes?

    But look at how they are treated by the rest of media and popular culture. They are universally vilified and demonized. Even a lot of conservative-ish people will put them as the equal of bsNBC in what they say.

    Pres. Bumps has directly attacked them, which is another historic first. People are openly calling for them to be silenced.

    Now, there would be no harm…maybe some good…that would come out of an expressly conservative news model, but there is no way to imagine it will not be marginalized to the point of us singing to our own choir.

    I’d like anybody to disabuse me of that.

      Good Lord, you’re kidding.
      If one so called conservative network can explode heads what do you think one, two or four more would do? News is also personality driven. Some people like Brett Baier, some like Shep Smith or Shannon Bream. Another “conservative” network with a new set of producers, writers, reporters and talking heads of all colors might preach to the choir, but it would probably expand the pie and attract its own core viewers drawing market share form all networks. Same with a third network.
      Besides, what’s wrong with flooding the market with news, information and entertainment with a conservative or non-liberal slant? You can have varying degrees of conservatism, just put it out there and let the audience find it. The left has abc, nbc, cbs, cnn, msnbc, bet and pbs along with a majority of nightly news viewers. They aren’t worried about diluting the message.

        Two points…

        1. Fox does not consider itself “conservative”, and it isn’t.
        Look where it is in the popular culture; the channel of conservative lies.

        2. I never said anything about “dilution”. I agree that repetition is a valuable factor in communication, and having 10 conservative news outlets would be swell in that regard. But…marginalization.

          1). I agree, Fox is not conservative but only seems so relative to everything else available.

          2). I don’t think we necessarily need 10, or whatever number, conservative networks. We just need several conservative to non-liberal networks to even the playing field. Fox alone can’t neutralize the Liberal Media Complex.

        Tim Groseclose has researched media bias and wrote the book
        “Left Turn — How Liberal Media Bias Distorts the American Mind”.

        He also contends media bias is good for 6%-8% at the polls for democrats. Another reason not to be content with only 1 conservative or non-liberal network. The more the better.

          You are still not addressing my points.

          Let me retell a story: An engineer was asked to observe a focus group assembled to find ways to more successfully market a given engine oil to consumers. He watched for a while before turning to the marketing guy conducting the focus group with contempt and saying, “We have to find a smarter focus group”.

          The point being, you take your public as you find them. You deal with perceptions as they are, not as they should be.

          How do you figure people influenced by the OBVIOUSLY propagandist media and popular culture are going to NOT see a conservative network as a pack of radical, extremist liars and ignore them? (Given that some few will resist that.)

          People were influenced by the media before FNC came along. Fox offered a different viewpoint that proved popular. People don’t know they like or dislike something if they have never had the opportunity to experience it. A new network NOT FOX would draw viewers. Done right I think it would be successful. Package the information in a way that prevents them from hitting the remote. We’re searching for that conservative to non-liberal progamming that appeals to the broadest segment of the abcnbccbscnnmsnbcpbsbet audience that is open minded enough to listen.

          The percentage of the non Fox watching television public open to non abcnbccbscnnmsnbcpbsbet programming is unknown, but worth trying to capture. That’s the group that sways elections.

      You don’t do it as just a news channel. You do it as a balanced entertainment channel with a public affairs tilt like the major networks were from their start through the 1970s with different kinds of entertainment programming depending on the time of day/day of the week plus public interest news programming. If it is smart, funny and appealing rather than preachy it won’t be easily to marginalized. When families with children prefer 40 and 50 year old reruns to current cartoons you know there is an audience. Just today my 19 yr old neighbor mentioned how he prefers the original Star Trek series to most of the current Sci Fi offerings when it came to the characters and the story lines. A lot of the Disney/Pixar classics come to mind. They are entertaining to both children and adults at the same time and they support a particular worldview. We also have some very funny people who would be appropriate to a late night slot.

      For over thirty years I have cringed while watching TV series because of all the Republican bashing, both in the unfunny, vulgar comedies and on shows like Law & Order. It has had an impact. Yet isn’t it interesting that many of the biggest grossing films have some very conservative messages. We need to see to it that more TV shows echo the messages of those movies.

A good place to start is to compare the national media coverage of Katrina’s effect on New Orleans- but not Mississippi- to the coverage of Sandy in New York. The media didn’t report wild rumors as fact. None of them are encouraging victims to say Obama must hate white people because the efforts on Staten Island have been screwed up from the start.

Those in the effected areas who still have access to media must marvel at the disconnect between what is on the news and what they are experiencing.

I killed my cable several months ago, and rely on the internet for information.

One that has arisen from obscurity, The Blaze. They are aggressively working to eliminate the MSM! And, yes, I know, it is Glenn Beck, but everything he has told America for the last four years has been right!

Massachusett’s will soon discover that their choice in Ms. Warren will have made poorly….Elections have consequences! It’s too bad the rest of the country will likely suffer as well.

    A state that gave us Jerry Studs, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry and Barney Frank will have no problem with Elizabeth Warren.

I’ve thought a lot about this issue — what Breitbart would be saying. First, I’m not sure the election results would have been the same if Breitbart had lived. I think his influence was that significant, his loss that devastating.

But I think he would be directing equal anger — or good-faith indignation — at the Republican Party. He said more than once (a direct quote) — he wasn’t sure who he had more contempt for, the left or the GOP that didn’t fight it. There is only so much you can chronicle and report about left-wing bias, vicious and shameless deceit, collective turpitude. We can fill volumes of commentary on websites and hours of Rush’s radio show — we’ve been doing this for years — but at some point this effluent knowledge and the fact of our coming ruin must be internalized and converted into political speech and and action within the opposition party. It has not. I don’t believe Breitbart would be attacking or maligning Romney. But he would, I believe, be pointing out that all his work and the work of can only go so far without the will and ability within politicians — as yet unseen — to confront the Left and the media.

    The Establishment are no different than the Dems. When we do get a good candidate like Allen West, they do everything to get rid of him. They’re already talking about Rubio running in 2016. He’s Establishment. Our goose may not be cooked, but it’s getting there.

#3. Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy – Their expertise is lying. Put them on the defensive, make them defend themselves and their reporting as individuals and organizations.

As long as there is no price to pay for their corruption the media will never change.

This week I’ve stopped even watching Fox. I get much better news and analysis online, ditto on the first stop here too. I stopped the NYT 4 years ago, and try not to give hits to articles linked in blogs to the NYT, Wapo, HuffyPoo, DumbBeast, etc. I think the WSJ is an excellent newspaper.

Would not think of flipping to BSNBC or CNN, or the other cables.

Peaceful in the house without the blathering over and over and over and over. I’ve noticed that with online reading, I’m often even 2 days ahead of the game on some stories.

    WSJ editorial page is fine, but the rest of the news side is a lib as the others.

    My DH said the other day that I can’t just get my “news from Jacobson and Mark Levin.” I beg to differ….

This has been the number one issue in my mind since the 2008 election. I propose that the Koch Brothers, Mitt Romney, Donald Trump, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, et al, buy controlling interests in the networks and CNN. How about if each one of us buys one share of those corporations rather than sending money to candidates or tea parties. I have no idea if it could be done but it is the stuff dreams are made of. Imagine a world where the tea party and our candidates are portrayed fairly and truthfully!

And, then with petitions signed, start work as part of a team in establishing a new Sovereign States of America, based on its founding principles

    Such a thing not only is not justified on the merits, it is the type of thing the political opposition would love to see as a means of marginalizing opponents of the progressive state.

      When something is worth saving, we save it by whatever means possible; but that means initiating a rescue plan that works and not just inventing some ice to skid along on.

      Having the larger country break into two viable countries, existing side by side as trade partners with different ideologies, is a fantastic idea whose time has come.

          petitions are already filed for 18 states. Texas has 8,000+ signatures. What’s interesting is the petitions include those very same words you used. Sure it’s just a few thousand people right now, but ideas start small and they have to start someplace. Why not a peaceful petition to withdraw?

          I say the time has come to think about new solutions to a very big problem. Why cling to the edge of a crumbling cliff when we can be standing on united and solid ground.

It rejuvenated my depressed motivation to keep up the fight.

I suggest that whatever we do we should concentrate our efforts on those media outlets with the largest audiences. MSNBC gets way too much attention from bloggers. They have a tiny audience and I suspect that half of what they have is our guys just wanting to quote the latest outrageous thing that Chris Mathews said. I understand everybody wants to build traffic but MSNBC is not worth our time. Bank robbers rob banks because thats where the money is. We need to attack where the audience is.
The other problem is one where we cannot trust the Republican Establishment to fix either. We need to work to clean up the election system we have. I don’t believe for a second that a large precinct anywhere can have a 98% or better turnout with 98% all voting for the same candidate even in (especially in) the ghetto. We need major reform and the removal of party hacks controlling the voting process and the vote counting. We will never win with George Sores (and those like him) pouring millions into the process to corrupt and control the system.

I don’t think we need a Conservative media arm. We need a libertarian one.

This is the most important LI thread to date. Bar none.

To level the playing field, and restore sanity to the nation, we need to mirror the Left. That is, we need to establish an equal alternate media.

We need to have a few sites, like Fox, to Breitbart the MSM.

BUT we more importantly need to also create, gradually, an alternative media universe that folks are attracted to. Honey attracts more flies than vinegar. Just as Fox has been tremendously successful as the only one exploiting a finite media space that half the population gravitates to……..there needs to be a PROJECT to create a similar general , more conservative, media space in which to draw sympathetic minds.

The Left has been marinating America in the culture of the LEFT for decades. This obviously is not a short-term project.

Just as obviously, it is something that needs and CAN happen to right our ship of state. Money to super-pacs is of arguable importance. Money to assemble an alternate media universe is essential.

That said, I have no idea how to actually accomplish this. Perhaps some out there does.
