Another good job

Another good job

Yesterday I highlighted the good work being done by Robert Stacy McCain to follow up on the Kimberlin/Walker case and related issues.

Kudos also go out to Patrick Frey at Patterico, who has gone through as much as anyone, for continuing to follow through, including these posts:

In addition to kudos, you know.

Just FYI, most times you pay for transcripts.

So… Someone came out of their pocket for that info.

No it was a crowd sourcing request. I spent a few hours trying to do 7 minutes of that thing. In the end I lost the work in a comment that I accidentally x’d out of instead of posting – ugh 🙁 Someone who is a professional volunteered to do the remainder but I could probably redo the portion I did since the hard part was making out what they were saying.

Well, bless you! I figured that Patterico had ordered and paid for the transcript, but that was my assumption.

Some, but very few, courts make transcripts available at a reasonable cost. More often, it is a perk for the court reporter, who gets paid a pretty nice per page fee.

    Thanks for the info.

I saw the SWAT’ing stories on Fox, but they referred to it as a “prank”. Maybe it’s just me, but I think something done with the express purpose of maybe getting someone killed qualifies as more than a prank.

On the plus side, at least it got into the news.

No, it’s not just you. “Prank” is a ridiculous word to use for something that serious.

I wonder if any –as in even a single one– of the SWATtings victims the FOX reporter interviewed to compile the story described their experience with it as a “prank.” If not, then where did the reporter get it?

I’m glad Patterico’s folks made that transcript. Read it and you find that Aaron Walker’s behavior was nowhere near as awful as was first reported. You will also find that the judge’s remarks were in some cases just laughable.

A better tranzscript for social good in the fight against petty evil:

The Crying Game script for Jaye Davidson’s vulnerable tranzy character.

The link is bad (and it says to tell the person who sent it to you, so I am) “Sorry — your last action could not be completed…”
