Richard Mourdock, before anyone thought he had a chance

Richard Mourdock, before anyone thought he had a chance

He was kind enough to call me, and we had a great conversation.

I realize it’s a lot easier to get a return call from someone not at the top in the polls, but not all candidates are that way.  (I’ve been trying to talk to a certain other insurgent Senate candidate for a while, but no luck.)

In his own words, here, long before anyone thought he had a chance:

By the way, take nothing for granted.

If you live in Indiana, vote on Tuesday. It you know someone in Indiana, make sure they vote.

If you don’t live in Indiana and don’t know anyone in Indiana, go to Mourdock’s website and make a donation so he has the money he needs to GOTV.

Update:  Et tu Mitch?

With polling showing Lugar sinking, Mitch Daniels isn’t withdrawing his endorsement of Lugar, but he is watering it down by characterizing it as a matter of personal loyalty, via Courier Press (emphasis mine):

Daniels, another former Reagan hand who was once Lugar’s chief of staff and whose political career began as an aide to the then-Indianapolis mayor, has cut television commercials on Lugar’s behalf.

He said he was somewhat surprised by the size of Mourdock’s lead, and said he hasn’t been asked to do anything other than those advertisements to help Lugar down the home stretch.

“I don’t have anything planned, but my viewpoint’s pretty well known by now. I suppose anybody that’s watched much television has heard it,” Daniels said.

Still, if Mourdock wins, Daniels said he’ll have no trouble supporting him.

“He’s a thoroughly credible person – you know, a friend and ally of mine,” Daniels said. “I was in an awkward position, to say the least, here, between two people I know and like and admire. But one of them, I have a lifelong loyalty to, and that was the tiebreaker.”

I’m taking the day off work May 8th to drive my parents and like minded geriatrics at the retirement center to the polls.

I like him.
Seems like a really genuine guy.
I hope he creams Lugar.

The fact that he returned your call and made this video for LI speaks well of him and his instincts.

Best of luck Mr. Mourdock!!

Hey Politico……this is from a blog read by the legal community.

Jealous yet?

    … said the legal eagle.

I hope the good Professor told him upfront that he was a conservative blogger read by the legal community, which is different that being a liberal read by the illegal community.

Newt has endorsed Romney and pledged to concentrate on getting him elected. How about endorsing Mourdock and helping HIM get elected? Romney is at WAR with the Tea Party. After all, we will be fighting the big government White House no matter who wins in November.

It would really help if some of these “Tea Party” candidates came out and endorsed a Tea Party candidate once in a while. Bachmann? Cain? Anyone? Crickets.

    Palin did.

Hours after her endorsement (which hit FB, Twitter, certain talk radio shows, and the nets like wildfire) the RINO superpac helping Lugar left for the tall grass.

It would be nice if Mourdock, during his acceptance speeches, would give a shout out to Palin.

I’ll be there Saturday for his rally.

I’m really looking forward to it.

Shame on me for not sending money sooner. I’m in AZ, but I am and will be praying fervently for your victory over Lugar: it’s time!

Hoosiers for Mourdock website will not permit me to make credit card contribution; input available for check only, routing # and account #. I had inputed my cc info successfully, but then the ‘system’ threw it back as an error. When I tried to start from scratch, I got only check-related input fields. Clinking on cc yielded fields for check only, although I had clicked on cc (VISA). Is someone hacking Mourdock’s website?

LukeHandCool in reply to HarrietHT. | May 4, 2012 at 11:05 pm

      Harriet,

I made a donation earlier today when the Professor made this post, using the link the Professor provided.

I used my credit card and it worked just fine.

Try again. Maybe you are doing something wrong. Maybe you forgot to put your credit card security code or something?

HarrietHT in reply to LukeHandCool. | May 4, 2012 at 11:22 pm

Thank you for your help. What I did wrong was to go to the wrong website. Perhaps the Hoosiers for Mourdock website only accepts $ from Hoosiers, of which I am not one.

        Mission accomplished!

I’m a sucker for great speeches, and that was one. Goin’ to richardmourdock.com …

Mitch Daniels: “He’s a thoroughly credible person – you know, a friend and ally of mine. I was in an awkward position, to say the least, here, between two people I know and like and admire. But one of them, I have a lifelong loyalty to, and that was the tiebreaker.”

That statement tells us exactly what’s wrong with politicians. They put loyalty to party, friends and past confidantes above conviction.

I reckon it is akward to be a politician.

It’s much worse to be an average American these days.

.

Hope you win.

I think your November campaign slogan should be

Indiana Rocks DC.

(plus a shout to the Indiana firm that shall not be named for its $35 million Dinosaur Hall Smithsonian donation.)

If you ever meet them can you say I took the time to read about Koch senior & fully agree with his assessments of USSR industrial scene . I saw the remnants of it in the 80s & whoah it was brutal. Can only imagine what it was like 1930s. The company seems to be a complete antithesis of that blight.

And that is the total sum of my knowledge on Indiana. Oh & also you are not at all the usual creep that gets to the top.:)

Mourdock is ahead by 10

I wonder if Daniels would have endorsed RINO Lugar out of loyalty if he was up for re-election…I doubt it. He would have went on which side his bread was buttered on.

I live in Indiana and thank you all for helping Mourdoch in any way you have. I voted early, gave a donation and put a sign in my yard. I attended a Tea party rally last weekend and about 300 were there. Another in Indy today w 1000+ expected.

Lots more signs for Mourdoch than Lugar. Lugar is sending out mailers 3-4 times a week trying to trash Mourdoch. Mourdoch has stayed above the fray by commending Lugar for 50 years of public service while emphasizing it’s time for change.

Lugar is also trying to get Democrats to vote for him.
