President Obama, continuing to make use of his unique White House bully pulpit, will address the nation on Monday night on the “stalemate over avoiding default and the best approach to cutting deficits,” Jay Carney, the press secretary, announced in a Twitter message late in the afternoon.
The president’s decision to intervene comes after House Republican leaders pushed for a vote Wednesday on a two-step plan that would allow the federal debt limit to immediately be raised by about $1 trillion and tie a second increase next year to the ability of a new joint Congressional committee to produce more deficit reduction.
But top Senate Democrats called the proposal a “non-starter” and said they would advance their own plan to reduce the deficit by $2.7 trillion and raise the debt ceiling until after next year’s elections, saying it met the conditions that Republicans had laid down during the ongoing debt fight.
This oughta be interesting.

Having been forced to look up those nostrils so many times, I can only marvel at how he manages to do such a thorough job of nose hair removal. I’m no piker on that particular aspect of personal hygiene myself but Obama takes it to a new historic standard. He must have a highly-skilled “nose hair tsar” on his staff or something.
That’s so funny and you’re probably right. Getty does close ups of his face. He waxes his eyebrows. Today I noticed they are dyeing them black because you can see grey hairs at their base. His hair is in constant flucation between lesser and greater shades of grey. When they make him up, I swear they put a little eyeliner on his bottem lids. He may have had a slight nose job like his wife did. Girls know these things.

I dunno if they put eye liner on his bottom lip. I do know that he’s got the black lips of a pot smoker. Lots of black guys who smoke pot have this darkening of the lips, especially the tissue there that holds the joint.
It’s from smoking. He still smokes because he chews nicotine gum when he can’t smoke. You can see him chewing it in WH videos. Smoking’s oxygen deprivation causes a purpling of the lips. Besides he’s a cokehead not a pothead.
Well, he doesn’t do much besides demagogue and play golf, so I guess he’s got lots time to groom his cilia.

I keep remembering Bush 41 being denied TV time because they said it was political and not Presidential newsworthy stuff. How long till Obama manages to “jump the shark” with these speeches/press conferences.
If you mean “when will they cut him off?”, its never. He’s their darling, the epitome of everything the media has sworn America’s needed for decades. So long as there is a whiff of a prayer that he can talk himself out of a hole (or just mitigate a democrat electoral catastrophe), they’ll give him airtime on demand. He’s their guy, and they will cling to him to the bitter end.
