“The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
Opposition appears to be growing to Barack Obama’s intention to nominate Sanjay Gupta for Surgeon General. The opposition is among Democrats who want to push single-payer (i.e., nationalized) healthcare. This opposition apparently stems from a confrontation Gupta had with Michael Moore over Moore’s film “SiCKO.” Gupta accused Moore of misrepresenting the facts about healthcare in the U.S. and Cuba.
Congressman John Conyers, a friend of Moore’s, is leading the fight against Gupta, even though Conyers isn’t even on a committee that governs the nomination. I don’t know much about Gupta, other than that he makes a good appearance on television. But if Michael Moore hates him, Gupta must be an honest person and is worthy of consideration.
