The Lesson of Iowa and Mississippi primaries: Don’t give up on Kansas
Dr. Milton Wolf is challenging legacy incumbent Pat Roberts.
Joni Ernst and Chris McDaniel had no chance of winning, until she won outright and he won but is in a runoff.
Both came out of nowhere because voters rallied around a Tea Party backed candidate. In the case of Mississippi, the battle was against a legacy entitled incumbent.
The lesson is not to forget Kansas, where Dr. Milton Wolf is challenging legacy entitled incumbent Pat Roberts in the August 5 primary.
Roberts has tons of money and the Republican establishment behind him. And a house in Virginia which is his real home.
It can happen again. Don’t settle for less.
Dr. Wolf could use our help to level the playing field so that the people of Kansas get to decide based on the issues and future, not who has the most money for TV ads, consultants and political insiders.

Wm, you forgot to mention the difference made by Gov. Palin’s support for both candidates. She’s done robo calls for McDaniel and pretty much stood with him. She backed Ernst when Ernst didn’t have a wing and a prayer.
Yeah, I’m rubbing it in, especially for the benefit of people like retire05 who likes to put down Governor Palin as though she is nothing and irrelevant to the contemporary political scene in the USA.
Palin’s endorsement clearly helped both candidates. But don’t forget that she’s endorsed several who lost this cycle, too. Is she even over .500?
Romney, on the other hand, is a perfect 7-0 so far on his endorsements in contested races.
So, who is more influential?
Funny, you don’t mention Karl Rove’s won/loss record.
Please, if you think Romney’s endorsing Conservatives, you’re drinking something. The point is that as dar as Ernst and McDaniel are concerned, it was Palin’s endorsement that brought them to the dance. Now, you show me Romney endorsing someone who is highly unlikely and helping that person to come from behind to win, and I will cede your point that Romney’s endorsement is meaningful. Gov. Palin never bats 1.000, but for the most part, her candidates, if they remain true to their principles, are making a heck of a mark. Which Romney candidate is doing that?
You comment like the media reports. Let’s look at the integrity of contextual reporting, shall we?
1. How many of Romney’s endorsees did Palin also endorse? (One example is Joni Ernst, whom Romney endorsed first and. it. had. no. impact. on. her race. It wasn’t until Palin endorsed her and came to the state and campaigned with her that Ernst began to rise. Incidentally, just like Nikki Haley for Governor of SC in 2010. Exactly like Haley.)
2. What nonEstablishment candidates has Romney endorsed? Those who were unknown? Those who were outspent?

Ernst is “tea party” now?
I find that odd. She was endorsed by the sitting Lt. Gov., over 20 current/former state legislators, and Mitt Romney before Sarah Palin joined in, and by the Chamber of Commerce last month.
She is a long time member of the Montgomery County Republican Women, where she won two four-year terms as County Auditor, the first in 2004.
Of course, she might not be as closely tied to the “establishment” as our nominee Sasse in Nebraska, who held four positions in three Cabinet departments under Bush before becoming President of Midland U in 2009.

Cochran is certainly expendable, predicated on the assumption McDaniel can win. He should, in Mississippi, but it is early in the criminal investigation.
All four arrested were supporters of McDaniel, and one was his former radio co-host. All are facing criminal charges. Given the campaign’s and McDaniel’s own dodgy and contradictory statements about the case so far, I wonder how people can be so confident nothing will come of it, and that none of the four will have anything interesting to say to prosecutors in exchange for lighter treatment, say, in October?

Fox is another case of questionable vetting of challengers. He posted patients’ X-rays on Facebook, for crying out loud. Did that show good judgment of the sort we need in the Senate? And while none were directly identified, HIPAA regulations don’t limit privacy to named disclosures.
Again, if he’s the nominee and HHS decides to file an action against him in October, how stupid would we look?
You GOPe types keep telling us Tea-Partiers to suck it up when we lose and back the Establishment pick.
Admit it Estragon. If it where Cochran with the lead over McDaniel you would be calling on McDaniel to drop out of the race for the good of the party and castigating us who would tell McDaniel to fight on. And, you would have a point.
Here is where you lose all credibility with me.
You are NOT calling on Cochran to drop out of the race for the good of the party. You are slinging mud at McDaniel and another Tea-Party candidate in Kansas.

Wow, all of those other endorsements helped propel Ernst to victory, didn’t they! Yeah, right. She’d still be waiting for the bus had the Momma Grizzly not given her the nod.
Tea party does not equal never-before-elected-Republican.
Look at Ted Cruz, who has served in several public service positions before U.S. Senator.
Charles Grassley, Louie Gohmert, Steve King are all elected Republicans, who actually do “defend and support the Constitution against enemies foreign and domestic” while in office.

For the 461st time, Todd Akin (rape quote guy) was not a Tea Party candidate. In that race two TP orgs endorsed a candidate: The TP Express endorsed Sarah Steelman, as did Sarah Palin, while FreedomWorks endorsed John Brunner, as did Mike Lee.
While it’s exceedingly unpopular to point this out, America is more than an idea; she is a particular people and a specific culture whose way of life has been undermined by those who seek to destroy America and its white European Judeo-Christian, Western Civilization.
I am not a doctor, but I am a student of history and philosophy — and politics. And I know that the mass importation of third-world peoples into the West is a deliberate design of globalists and Marxists to tear apart what remains of Christendom.

That’s why Obama is opening the flood fates to people from Central and South America. Those folks rely on government in a big way. Deport them all back to their countries. We can’t afford the mess the nonsense they believe in would make of the USA.
If McDaniel is declared the winner we very well might lose a safe seat just as we have done time and time again.
This guy has much more skeletons in his closets and the Democrats will not have to do much research, the ads will write themselves. Todd Aiken was a giant compared to this guy.
The Democrats will link McDaniel to the Republican brand, as Aiken, Mourdock, Angle, and O’Donnell were, and we will lose any chance we had to retake the Senate.

That “safe seat” is occupied by a corrupt crony politician who has served 36 years consecutively since he was elected to the Senate in 1978 and yet you argue that re-electing that Ruling Class jerk will be a winning position for America?

The GOP under Reagan was a famous brand conservative party. the party was sold out to a family of political hustlers who did not share Reagan’s values of conservativism and excellence. The hustlers–BushI, BushII, Delay, Rove, Lott, McConnel, Boehner–watered down the product.
The GOP brand did not protect the political hustlers when the people who used to enjoy a quality product realized it was as worthless as cheap whiskey.
The Tea-Party remembers what good whiskey tastes like and they remember what a robust, quality, visionary GOP feels like. We don’t believe the hucksters anymore and putting the same crap product in a new bottle is not going to convince anybody.

A safe seat is useless to the Republicans if the incumbent isn’t doing his job.
A Republican’s job is to oppose the disgusting policies of the Democrats. That has always been the Republican party’s job.
I logged in just to give you the “up” arrow for your comment. Here in Virginia we’ve been battling the machinations in local politics of Establishment guy Eric Cantor, and as I’ve said previously on some of the Virginia blogs, “Why would I vote for a Republican without principles, if I won’t vote for unprincipled Democrats.
The modern GOP is too much like a less leftist Democrat Party, and it was the Republicans who have enabled the leftists to take over the country…so now, just because someone has an “R” after their name, doesn’t mean they’re going to get our votes.
