Another Obamacare delay? The HelpDemCandidates Delay Act of 2014
Nothing is surprising anymore.
Here we go again?
According to The Hill, New O-Care delay to help midterm Dems:
The Obama administration is set to announce another major delay in implementing the Affordable Care Act, easing election pressure on Democrats.
As early as this week, according to two sources, the White House will announce a new directive allowing insurers to continue offering health plans that do not meet ObamaCare’s minimum coverage requirements.
Prolonging the “keep your plan” fix will avoid another wave of health policy cancellations otherwise expected this fall.
The cancellations would have created a firestorm for Democratic candidates in the last, crucial weeks before Election Day.
The White House is intent on protecting its allies in the Senate, where Democrats face a battle to keep control of the chamber.
“I don’t see how they could have a bunch of these announcements going out in September,” one consultant in the health insurance industry said. “Not when they’re trying to defend the Senate and keep their losses at a minimum in the House. This is not something to have out there right before the election.”
The White House and the Department of Health and Human Services on Monday both said they had no updates to announce.
I haven’t seen any confirmation from the administration, but would anyone be surprised if the law were manipulated to help Democrats?
Update: Good point here:
@LegInsurrection An "Act" would actually have to be passed by Congress. This is more of a "decree". 🙁

This is vote tampering, isn’t it? Maybe AG Holder will look into it.
I’m wondering how many Democrats are quietly kicking themselves over their party’s decision less than six months ago to shut down the government rather than accede to the GOP proposal to delay implementation of the whole thing for another year.
No, no, no, no, no…
They’ll never admit that it was their party shutting down the government.
I still have to see ONE Democrat who does not repeat the “it-was-the-Tea-Party” meme.
Hell, half the Republicans around here blame the Republicans for it – just so they stick one in Ted Cruz and Tea Partiers.
Few, I would think. They gained too much from blaming the Republicans for the shutdown for them to regret passing up on the Obamacare delay.
However… ask again in December of 2014 and you’ll probably see the numbers you’re looking for. 🙂

Well, except Pres. ScamWOW isn’t “fixing” anything…
except the next election.
But it won’t work. People HATE being lied to.
My question is, once the Dems are kicked out of the White House, does the bone-deep damage Obama has inflicted on the balance of power get normalized, or do we drag it back to where it was?
No. Even if the GOP has the integrity not to emulate Obama, the next Democrat President will not. I guarantee that President will be as bad or worse than Obama, now that the Democrats have seen that open corruption (defying Congress, vote fraud) will not hurt them.
“The White House and the Department of Health and Human Services on Monday both said they had no updates to announce.”
I believe they have to act quickly. Insurance companies, due to consumer-protection laws, have to give ample notice of expiring coverage.
Does anyone here know what the deadlines are?
It’s worse than that: to continue offering a plan, with the normal year-to-year adjustments prices such as premiums, deductibles, co-pays, and out-of-pocket limits, they have to get them approved by the state insurance regulator (I’ll bet in many states require this if there are no changes, since each year other relevant things change). And they have to do that right now for 2015, or so was reported about Obamacare compliant policies in reference to the upcoming open enrollment end and using that feedback. Might be too late….
Plus several state insurance regulators have refused to play this game … which is not entirely unreasonable because it destroys the assumptions upon which everyone’s been making plans in our wonderful Obamacare future.
Thanks, Lina.
The point is made: it may well already be too late for Dems to delay.
Let’s hope 🙂
Of course, if the Dems keep the Senate all these postponements will be rescinded and go ahead early in 2015. The hope there (for the Dems) is that, like ripping a Bandaid off all at once, they’ll get the pain over with before the 2016 election begins in earnest.
It’s funny in a way: the ACA, so earnestly demanded by the Dems in 2009 that they passed it in the day of night on a holiday weekend, is so poisonous to them that they don’t dare implement it. If you really want to screw with them you should demand that the entire thing be implemented right now; no exemptions, no delays, no waivers, no excuses. Let them defend why the law is so important that it dare not be implemented.
It’s “the Law of the Land.”
Isn’t it?
Apparently “the Law of the Land” only matters when they can reap a political benefit.
It is amazing how “Its. The. Law.” became “Its. His. Whim.”
The Left and postmodernism is all about relativity – relative values, relative morals, etc. Now the constitutional law of the United States has been rendered relative to the needs of those in power. It’s a law if it helps politically and if it doesn’t, it’s not. Truth is measured the same way.
Remember how important it was to push this thing through and get it in early so we can start reaping the benefits of a better and more affordable health care system?
