Birth Tourism Hearing: Doctor Behind ‘Have My Baby in Miami’ Invokes Fifth Amendment
The doctor has boasted about helping over 2,000 foreigners give birth to their children in America to gain citizenship.
The Oversight Committee’s Task Force on Defending Constitutional Rights and Exposing Institutional Abuses took on birth tourism today.
Chairman Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) brought forth Dr. Wladimir Lorentz, a Miami doctor and founder of “Have My Baby in Miami.” He has boasted about helping over 2,000 foreigners give birth to their children in America to gain citizenship.
How did the questioning go? Lorentz answered one question:
GILL: You run a medical business. Is that correct?
LORENTZ: I am. Yes, I am.
After that, Lorentz invoked the Fifth Amendment:
On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer the question on the grounds that a truthful answer may tend to incriminate me, and I invoke my rights under the Fifth Amendment to the United States.
This is Dr. Wladimir Lorentz. He boasted on his website that he helped deliver roughly 2,000 babies through birth tourism.
Chairman @RepBrandonGill asked if he helped members of the Chinese Communist Party obtain American citizenship.

It looks like the website no longer works. But Gill harvested information before it went away. Gill wrote to Lorentz in May:
The “Have My Baby in Miami” website suggests that the firm is engaged in birth tourism. First, the firm explicitly markets its services to international patients, stating that “the dream of having your child in the United States is closer to reality.” While specific pricing for maternity packages is not publicly listed, the website offers a “Step by Step Guide” walking prospective foreign clients through the process of traveling to and from Miami to give birth. Interested clients must contact the firm directly by phone, email, or WhatsApp to obtain cost information, at which point they would likely also learn of additional fees, such as registration, extended hospital stays, and medical tests and exams. Beyond prenatal and postpartum care, the firm offers foreign expectant mothers a broader suite of services, including logistics support, temporary housing assistance, and legal consultations, provided either directly or through affiliated third party providers.
The fight against birth tourism has amped up since SCOTUS ruled that children born to women illegally or temporarily in the country “are citizens at birth.”
President Donald Trump recently signed two executive orders to end birth tourism and narrow birthright citizenship.

There seems sufficient PC to get a hold of this guy’s financial records, office records, business financial record to see if the claims made on his company website, marketing materials and online statements match his IRL actions.
Target one of the employees, perhaps a medical assistant, nurse midwife, nurse practitioner, or administrative assistant who will not spend decades in jail to save the high paid executives and doctors involved in this.
Total immunity if the information they provide leads to convictions.
What crime has he committed?
I assume these women come in under tourist visas?
Beria had the right idea here “Show me the man I’ll show you the crime”.
No, this is comically wrong and backwards. Here we have a crime, visa fraud, and evidence of the furtherance of this fraud. Your silly misuse of the Beria quote here would prevent the investigation of any crimes.
It’s not illegal for foreign travelers to give birth in the U.S. However misrepresenting or hiding the true purpose of travel when applying for a temporary visitor visa is a crime.
Dr. Lorentz operated a birth tourism agency where he intentionally coached, facilitated & conspired with foreign nationals to deceive U.S. immigration authorities to bypass standard vetting. He was actively involved in this visa fraud scheme by acting as the facilitator and coordinator. He held dual roles both a medical doctor and a business owner where he profited both ways—coming and going and was in the fraud scheme up to his eye balls.
Although you are correct, because birth tourism is not illegal, why would the clients of this service have to lie on their visa applications? Is the purpose “to birth my baby in the United States” grounds for denial of a visa?
It’s considered visa fraud.
I stipulated that the traveler is admitting their purpose in coming here. There is no fraud. Is traveling here to birth a child illegal?
You cannot simply travel to the US to give birth. Traveling to the U.S. with the primary intent of giving birth so a child receives automatic U.S. citizenship is explicitly prohibited under U.S. nonimmigrant visa rules. You would have been denied a visa. The only legal way would require you to prove a compelling, specific medical necessity.
They have to lie because their visa application would otherwise have been denied under nonimmigrant visa rules. But don’t let your complete ignorance on the issue stop you now. You’re really going strong. Quite amusing.
Link to those alleged “nonimmigrant rules”, please.

Wow. so this is essentially an admission that you and your buddies are ignorant on the subject but still felt a need to make your comments? Try 22 CFR § 41.31 for starters.
Concise. Please go back and read my posts. I asked (twice!) if birth travel was illegal, so I admitted my ignorance up-front. AF didn’t answer my question and he responded with as if he didn’t even notice what I had posited. I restated the scenario and again asked if birth travel is illegal.
If you going to comment on my posts, please first read them.
Uh, yeah, they come in under visas. Visas procured by fraud
Perhaps it’s time to delineate a circumstance in which we immediately “separate families”. Keep the babies, send back the mothers, and this won’t be so attractive any more.
Exactly. The Parents are clearly ‘unfit’ b/c their first act as Parents was to involve their child in an activity to defraud the immigration enforcement system to illicitly secure Citizenship for a child that would otherwise not be born in the the USA. Every birth by ANY foreign National without a green card should result in:
1. Mandatory reporting by Hospital/ Providers to ICE
2. Deportation for the Parents
3. Permanent bar on reentry for those Parents
4. Child picked up by child Protective Services and placed for adoption.
Would require changes to TPS/Asylum and visa compliance to create prohibition on becoming pregnant and mandatory reporting to State Dept within 96 hours of knowledge they are pregnant so the Feds can update their status and facilitate their removal.
I don’t think any court in the country would go along with a finding that a parent is unfit, and should lose their constitutional right to raise their child, just because they had committed a crime for the child’s benefit.
If both parents’ crime is enough to justify imprisoning them both, then of course the child must be looked after temporarily by someone of the parents’ choice, until they’re able to resume care. If there isn’t anyone, then the state must find someone until at least one parent is free But if one or both parents are not imprisoned then there’s no way an honest court could have the child taken from them. And no legislation can change that, because children don’t belong to the government.
I absolutely love Gill
‘For the child’s benefit’ is speculative at best and definitely falls short of a full description of the possible motivations.. While it may be A consideration it is far from the ONLY consideration. For example it has long been practice to allow US Citizens to ‘sponsor’ their family members under family reunification provisions.
Thus the child when of age could return to the USA and as a Citizen serve to ‘sponsor’ their Parents for US Citizenship of their own. This creates a clear incentive for immigration fraud for the forward thinking foreigner. It is a crime to apply for visa of any type to engage in birth tourism.
‘Parents rights’ to raise their child fall short of the mark here under birth tourism. The child is merely a convenient conduit to achieve near guaranteed favorable response for the Parents eventual US Citizenship application. From this reasonable point of view the ‘child’ is a mere tool valued by the Parents for their utility not affection.
Legislation can absolutely ‘do that’. Children are removed from the not so tender care of their criminal and/or negligent Parents on a daily basis. Not unusual at all. Frankly I’d argue we should do more of this from a mere economic perspective. Where Parents already have two children and are on public assistance of some kind usually several programs simultaneously, not infrequently fitting the stereotype of long-term ‘welfare queens’ …and they irresponsibly become pregnant despite their demonstrated financial inability to care for their existing family …then the 3rd and any subsequent children should immediately be taken by CPS after birth. The Parents of these children are likewise unfit due to their financial inadequacy and further sometimes share the same motivation of ‘utility’ as Parents engaged in birth tourism seeing the additional child(ren) as a way to increase govt benefits to the household.
Children don’t belong to govt nor do they belong to Parents. We haven’t had legal slavery (other than convicts) in the USA for a very long time. Aside from this fact every bit of govt largesse comes with diminished individual power over their own lives and the members of their household. Add to this we allow Courts to sever families every day in family court. It may as well be a legal presumption that Mother not Father will be awarded primary custody which means decisions about that Child are made without the Father …in late ’24 A Father named Hudacko lost his fight against medical providers who performed trans treatment on his son against his wishes b/c the CT awarded custody to the Mother he was ruled to have no standing.
The child’s benefit? A lot of concurrent benefits accrue to the parents as well. And to foreign bad actors as well in a great many cases. Ask the CCP.
What a surprise.
300,000 a year birth tourist
Then add mom and dad, grannies, grandpa x2, aunts, uncles , siblings
2-3 million easy and all don’t want to assimilate , many just want in on the fraud… and the. There are the Chinese … they got their own reasons, like infiltration and conquest
We are insane as a nation
Maybe he can skirt by not having technically broken any laws, but enough is enough. People like this guy, organizations like CAIR, Democrats fixing elections, they’re all using our own laws to subvert and sabotage our society and our country.
Like so many idiots selling out our country for personal gain, Lorentz looks like a real POS.
What kind of morons would name their spawn Wladimir.
Why on earth not? It’s a perfectly good name, with a long and honorable history. The fact that you think it isn’t only shows what kind of a moron you are.
Buy a sense of humor, Milhouse. It was a joke.
Dime store lawyers don’t have a sense of humor.
I am conflicted on this one.
I once dated a gorgeous Persian med resident who had been birth touristed into US citizenship, post “The Regeime.” She since had an exemplary life in US including career as orthopedic surgeon. Yes, she was way too.good for. me.
Can wrle.borth tourist in more like that? I van sughest a few we could ship out to make room.
Nobody is saying that that the progeny of these “birth tourists” can’t turn out well.
Their parents are contemptible and exploitative reprobates, though, and this practice needs to be cracked down on.
Sorry for the letter salad: stroke symptom — anything with emotional valence disrupts things like typing, and my noticing the disruption.
Apparently, I still feel that one.
I wonder if this guys taxes are all in order?
