Cincinnati Fires Social Justice Obsessed Police Chief Terri Theetge

City Manager Sheryl Long accused Theetge of “insubordination, poor leadership, and failing to carry out the city’s public safety priorities.”

The city of Cincinnati fired Police Chief Terri Theetge, a woman known for her obsession with social justice and dislike of white people, especially white men.

City Manager Sheryl Long accused Theetge of “insubordination, poor leadership, and failing to carry out the city’s public safety priorities.”

“I recognize Chief Theetge’s more than 35 years of service to the Cincinnati Police Department and to this City. At the same time, after completing this review, it’s become clear that a change in leadership is necessary for the department moving forward,” Long wrote.

The seven-page letter is legit fire.

Long pointed out that “Theetge acknowledged she opposed the city’s Summer Safety Plan,” which would have put more police on the streets.

Theetge also did not “mandate overtime to close staffing gaps, despite having the authority to do so.”

Mayor Aftab Pureval admitted that Theetge frustrated him last summer because “he offered double the amount of overtime to fulfill details to combat crime.”

Theetge would agree, but then refuse help from the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

Last May, four members of the Cincinnati Police Department sued the city and Theetge, accusing them of workplace discrimination:

The officers claimed they were bypassed for preferred positions in favor of minority and female lieutenants, despite meeting qualifications, according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit, brought by Captain Robert Wilson and Lieutenants Patrick Caton, Gerald Hodges, and Andrew Mitchell, named the city and Theetge in both her individual and official capacities, alleging they participated in “intentional and discriminatory practices” that favored women and minorities.

The four officers alleged in their lawsuit that the city and Theetge developed and enforced assignment, hiring, and promotional processes that demonstrate “a systemic practice of discrimination against white males.”

Then, Theetge became well known in July after videos showed a group of mostly young black individuals assaulting a white man and woman.

Theetge came under fire when she lectured the media and the public about the videos, saying they had only seen “one version of what occurred.”

Except, you know, there is only one version: a group of mostly young black people assaulted a white couple. That’s why she couldn’t tell anyone which facts were distorted.

Holly told her story to Laura Ingraham, recounting how it took police 15-20 minutes to arrive. She said they “never asked her name, took no statement, and failed to call an ambulance.”

Holly had to take an Uber home, where she realized that she needed medical attention. She took herself to the hospital.

Long lashed out at Theetge for leaving town after a shooting on October 13:

“Although you said that there were police on Fountain Square and that you filled all details on Fountain Square, you admitted that this was after I sent a text saying ‘Please please make the fountain square patrols happen….Please please. Give it to a sgt,” Long wrote. “I should not have had to beg you to do this.”

She also pointed to Theetge skipping an Oct. 14 public safety town hall meeting, instead attending a play, and for failing to prepare the assistant chief who did attend.

“You justified this lack of preparation by saying that there was no specific topic to prepare for and no data to put together,” Long wrote.

“Your lack of recognition of, and failure to take responsibility or accountability for, your own failings is demonstrated by your incredulous claim that you had never been told of any dissatisfaction with your work,” wrote Long. “This is false. As discussed above and below, I communicated my dissatisfaction with your performance both verbally and by email.”

how did all these women become chief of police of these large cities. yeah i know – appointed mostly by women mayors. are any of them qualified??

    There seems to be a madness (seriously) in White Female American culture. I’m old and I have watched this develop for decades. A college girl friend who was incredibly intelligent (Chemistry major; Cornell) was an early convert to the feminist creed. It was from her I first heard the meme.
    ” A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle” At the time, I thought it a curious thing to say but I attached no significance to it. You know, whatever, babe.

    We finally broke up after a dinner date where I foolishly opened the restaurant door for her, and she abruptly said, ” Don’t you think I’m smart enough to open a door by myself?” Rather stung by this remark, I impulsively let the door swing closed and said ” Oh Honey, you’re gonna have to prove that!

    After that I started to pay attention to the phenomenon. It seems to me that women felt like they were missing all the fun. Men were getting the exciting and important jobs- men were pilots and women were stewardesses. Men were firefighters rushing into burning buildings while female nurses waited in the ambulance. Men were CEO’s making billion dollar deals while women typed up the meeting minutes.

    So they demanded -and got over time- access to any and all fields they wanted to try. Fine. However while their new cultural norm taught them to be assertive and push into “non-traditional” fields of work, what it didn’t teach them was how to deal with the competitiveness of men – especially White men brought up for many generations in the Protestant Work Ethic.

    We (speaking as a White Anglo-Saxon Protestant) were taught to expect aggression and competitiveness from our peers from age four ( the battles of the boardroom are won on the playgrounds of kindergarten (sic. Women at least until recently were brought up to work together and seek harmony (except with other women but that’s a tale for another day). Women want things to be decided and settled. However every man knows that your boss is not forever and when he slips you can take his job. (It’s a wolf thing -see the history of Rome).

    So, women who got into positions were shocked by the aggressiveness of the men below them trying to take their jobs. They’d gotten the job but never expected to have to fight to keep it. Women, as they do, take this as a personal attack where men know it’s just life in the jungle. It has made many older women bitter as they believe that they are constantly under attack. Well, they are, but what they don’t see is that men have always live this way. You climb in the ring, you’ve got to expect to get punched in the face.

    Perhaps the youngest generation of women are learning the rules of the jungle workplace at an early age and will be ready for the struggle. However, at this point we still have 50 years of women who were taught to reject their traditional roles and view them as unworthy and yet are not ready to don their armor and fight, They are confused and unhappy and malcontent. I’ll close by saying that I’ve lived abroad in various countries over the years, and this is a peculiarly American problem . Perhaps the Brits have it as well, but in most of the civilized cultures around the planet, women are happy to be women.

Woke bureaucrats know if they just stall and procrastinate and play dumb and deny that they will generally win by default.

And their anarchist-left city council allies employ the same tactics.

There’s no accountability because unaccountability is baked into the woke cake.

And then come the lawsuits. And by then everything is in ruins and the mayor, or chief of police, or staff are ready to move on to the next city in another county.

They will hire someone who’s just as bad, but subtler about it.

She’s apparently suing over the firing.

Barely a slight set back for Culture Marxism

How about we insist that every LEO must annually recert the fitness test, obstacle course and other physical training testing standards from the Academy? Either those evaluations and the level of preparation needed to achieve them is important enough to maintain them or why bother? To get started let’s insist that LEO at least present the appearance of someone who is fit, athletic v someone who appears as if they’ve had way too many donuts.

As an airline pilot, I flew into and was based briefly in Cincinnati during her reign. Safety in the downtown was so bad that our flight attendants were told to never take the hotel elevator to the basement or parking garage because of robbery and rape. That was thirty years ago! Like many cities where blacks have taken over the downtown area, crime has zoomed and then they elect incompetent police chiefs which makes it worse. DC is a good ex

After reading the termination letter I’d say she has little recourse on her dismissal.
