The suspect, a person well known to Charlotte law enforcement, stabbed Zarutska to death on August 22.
The murder didn’t even gain traction until last week after the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) released the video.
Stacey wrote about how it took days for North Carolina politicians and Charlotte law enforcement to respond publicly to the murder.
She mentioned how Charlotte Democratic Mayor Vi Lyles released a long statement, giving Zarutska one sentence while babbling on about mental health and homelessness.
I can’t wait to see how the media will respond now that Axios has given them a way out.

Oh please, the first thing his Public Defender is going to do is petition the Judge to order Decarlos Brown Jr. to under go a “mental health status evaluation” where he will inevitably be found to be “not mentally competent to stand trial” (i.e. a retarded black) and the will be placed in a secure mental facility. I do expect that he will plead mental incompetency, and eventually go on a mental health hold to a facility. At least until other things have occupied public attention. In a few months I expect that he will be diagnosed as being under control and released upon the public again.

The other important, yet unreported (by the media) element of this story is how and why this savage was free to roam the streets. After his last arrest, he was released without bail by a magistrate. Her background is fascinating. The tl;dr is she has two undergrad degrees from online colleges and a ‘law degree’ from a diploma mill in Michigan (Cooley). She’s never passed the bar in Michigan or North Carolina. Unbelievably, you don’t have to be a lawyer to be a magistrate in North Carolina. She’s filed bankruptcy a half-dozen times and appears to own some kind of ‘recovery’ service; this is a business that manages the release and ‘treatment’ for people given alternative sentencing…like this perpetrator was, repeatedly.
So, she’s a magistrate that can dismiss charges in favor of alternative disposition while owning a business that directly benefits from alternative disposition of criminals. Unbelievable.
