Capital Clash: Dems Side With DC Criminals Over Trump

Capital Clash: Dems Side With DC Criminals Over Trump

“Those of you who don’t know what authoritarianism looks like…this is it. … Now we are HERE.”

At a Monday morning press conference, President Donald Trump announced plans to place the Metropolitan Police Department under federal control and deploy National Guard troops across Washington, D.C., vowing to combat crime and “restore the beauty” of the nation’s capital.

Trump told reporters that Washington, D.C.’s homicide rate now tops that of some of the world’s most dangerous cities, while car thefts have doubled and carjackings have more than tripled in the past five years.

Despite the obvious increase in violent crime, the homeless camps that have sprung up throughout the city, and the visible decline in public safety, Democrats insist there is no need for federal intervention.

Following Trump’s press conference, the airwaves were flooded with Democrats echoing a recent report claiming that violent crime in D.C. is at a 30-year low.

Below, New York Times correspondent and MSNBC analyst Peter Baker peddles the latest talking point and insists that Trump is “citing a nonexistent crime crisis.”

In fact, Baker claimed, “The worst single-day crime spree in modern Washington history, of course, took place on Jan. 6, 2021. Trump issued no order to the National Guard to intervene — Mike Pence did — and later pardoned the perpetrators.”

[Public records show that Trump recommended deploying National Guard troops ahead of Jan. 6, an offer that was declined by then–House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser. But I digress.]

Unable to contain his obvious bitterness, Baker wrote a third post: “Trump himself has been convicted of 34 felonies and is the first criminal elected president.”

Widely followed podcast host Dan Carlin also reacted on X:

Those of you who don’t know what authoritarianism looks like…this is it. All the gaslighting about previous presidents “what about…!!! Is bullsh**. I’ve been talking about the slide towards NOW for 30+ years. Those earlier concerns were nothing. Now we are HERE.

He continued his rant in a five-post thread which begins with the following tweet:

MSNBC contributor and Princeton professor Eddie Glaude said he was “trying to hold [his] temper.” He warned that Trump is “going to undermine the democratic process in the district!”

Moreover, Glaude argued that Trump’s D.C. crime crackdown is merely a diversion from the Jeffrey Epstein scandal — the Democrats’ all-purpose accusation.

Hillary Clinton, who has been relatively quiet since the recent releases of previously classified documents that showcase her role in the Russian collusion hoax, weighed in on X: “As you listen to an unhinged Trump try to justify deploying the National Guard in DC, here’s reality: Violent crime in DC is at a 30-year low.”

With her credibility already at a low point, it may have been wiser for her to sit this one out. White House deputy press secretary Abigail Jackson immediately fired back on X: “On top of being a big-time loser, you’re also a massive liar.”

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) also jumped into the fray.

Perhaps the stupidest take of all came from a retired reporter who said he travels into D.C. frequently and neither he, nor anyone he knows, has ever been carjacked. The kiss of death?

While it may be true that crime statistics for D.C. in 2024 were lower than in 2023, a year in which crime reportedly spiked, they all seemed to have forgotten that last month, a D.C. police commander was accused of altering crime statistics and suspended. The police union claimed his “directive to change offense classifications [came] from command staff.”

Setting aside the allegations against this officer and statistics showing crime in the city may have dipped from the record highs of 2023, why are Democrats so outraged by the Trump administration’s efforts to make D.C. safer? Why are they opposed to taking murderers, carjackers, and other offenders off the streets?

More to the point, why are Democrats siding with D.C. criminals over Trump? Would they rather see more murders and violent crimes than allow Trump another win? Well, it certainly looks that way.

Trump has a remarkable knack for pushing the Democratic Party into defending the indefensible. On the 2024 campaign trail, he forced Democrats to defend the Biden administration’s open-border policy, support for gender-affirming procedures for minors, and allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports.

In February, he compelled Democrats to oppose the Department of Government Efficiency’s push to cut waste, fraud, and abuse from the bloated, out-of-control federal budget, something every American should applaud.

By March, Democrats were going to extraordinary lengths to defend the due process rights of “Maryland Dad” Kilmar Abrego Garcia — a wife beater, suspected gang member, and accused human trafficker.

Since then, they have protested the deportation of illegal aliens, even those accused of the most heinous crimes. And now, they’re trying to bully Trump out of getting tough on crime in the nation’s capital.

Democrats can defend the indefensible for as long as they want, but voters are starting to catch on. This may explain their defeat in November and the dismal ratings of liberal news programs. They are losing the public’s trust — yet they keep doubling down on stupid.

Reminds me of “Eric the Viking” the island of Atlantis isn’t really sinking its just your imagination

According to the left first you lie then you lie again before manipulating the statistics.

should have gone “First, tell a lie followed by a damn lie then tweak the statistics”

“More to the point, why are Democrats siding with D.C. criminals over Trump? Would they rather see more murders and violent crimes than allow Trump another win? Well, it certainly looks that way.”

For Democrats, this is just professional courtesy.

“Trump has a remarkable knack for pushing the Democratic Party into defending the indefensible.”

And interestingly, all he needed to do to accomplish these feats is to DO SOMETHING.

Republicans have been talking and talking and talking for decades about addressing some of these issues, but they’ve done nothing and the issues have only gotten worse.

Republicans have either been so afraid of bad press if they actually tried to accomplish anything, or afraid to lose their place at the feeding trough if they actually succeeded, they’ve done absolutely jack squat.

All Trump had to do to upend the apple cart, expose the naked emperor and reduce the left to fits of ineffectual, spittle flinging, furious desperation is…take action on the promises he made during his campaign.

Go figure.

CommoChief in reply to Sailorcurt. | August 12, 2025 at 2:10 pm

Exactly so. What is happening here is a demonstration of the will to take actions to directly address the core problem for average Citizens in DC; rampant crime. This is very similar to the Biden Border Crisis which was presented as ‘unsolvable’, needing legislation and to get at ‘root causes’… yet the Trump WH acted decisively and the monthly totals for illegal crossings are in the double digits down from thousands per day.

Surging personnel acts as deterrent, frees up and expands the effective reach of DC Metro Police. Taking the apparatus under Federal control also sends a clear message about intentions b/c Trump is putting his own prestige on the line and failure won’t be tolerated.

You are so right. Also, Republicans have shed the need for politeness. I hope Trump’s style of brash leadership survives his presidency. It makes all the difference in the world.

“Following Trump’s press conference, the airwaves were flooded with Democrats echoing a recent report claiming that violent crime in D.C. is at a 30-year low.”

The numbers in the report are fake. Various whistleblowers have come out with details. Felonies are downgraded to misdemeanors or just not recorded at all. Nothing new. The NYPD have been doing the same thing for years. The whole Adrian Schoolcraft scandal started with him secretly recording instructions from precinct commanders to omit and fake victim reports. Schoolcraft paid a high price for telling the truth as detailed in the book: “The NYPD Tapes” by Graham Rayman. The tapes were once available from the Village Voice website, and I downloaded them about 25 year ago. No one with an ounce of sense would believe police crime statistics. The pols pressure the police management who in turn pressure the cops. The DC whistleblowers too have suffered retaliation.

Going deeper, why are so many pols, judges etc protective of criminals both foreign and domestic? To understand what’s happening, study the history, methods, and ideology of Stalin who once refereed to Russian criminals as: “our class allies.” Our political class, mostly Democrats, are basically Stalinists. Stephen Kotkin wrote the most detailed and insightful treatments of Stalin in this three-volume biography. I’m reading Volume 1: “Stalin: Paradoxes of Power, 1878–1928” now. For an intro, listen to a long interview with Kotkin on the Dwarkesh podcast: “How Stalin Became the Most Powerful Dictator in History. Available for free with your favorite podcast app. Once you undestand Stalin and Stalinism, you will gain insight into what’s happening in America today,

Thank you for the comment and thank you for the reading recommendations. Will try to locate both.

They keep repeating the 34 felonies hoax as if reasonable people believe it.

As for the sh*tlib position on DC violent crime, that’s a convenient position to take while living in 7-figure, gated-community homes just across the DC-Virginia border.

Perhaps the libs real fear is that all the DC perps will be driven out and into their leafy neighborhoods?

henrybowman in reply to FelixTheCat. | August 12, 2025 at 3:16 pm

There are a lot of talking-point lies that Democrats repeat in the mistaken belief that everyone else (has to) believe them: Trump is a 34-time felon; snowflake agitators are “put in fear of their safety” by critical speech; trans women are women; the vaxx is safe and effective; Zionists are committing genocide; you can run a civilization on sun and wind; blacks deserve continuous infinite reparations. It’s all so adorable that you just want to eat them all up… with a nice chianti.

According to Dershowitz, someone convicted does not become a “felon” until sentenced. Trump has never been sentenced as far as I know, and certainly never sentenced for “34 felonies.” The anti-Trumpers reveal their ignorance of law with such statements.

“More to the point, why are Democrats siding with D.C. criminals over Trump? Would they rather see more murders and violent crimes than allow Trump another win? Well, it certainly looks that way.”

It’s not just that a reduction in crime would be a Trump “win,” it’s that the win would expose the reality that something could have been done by the Dems to reduce crime, and they didn’t do it. A Trump win will expose Dem failure. (Yes, I know it’s not a “failure,” it’s intentional. But many Americans don’t realize it’s intentional. With regard to those Americans, demonstrating Dem failure is as good as it will get.)

All true. I think some people are so reflexively anti Trump that just oppose everything he does or says without thinking. I think we are seeing the results of a psyop program directed at the American people. Psyop programs have been used by our itel agencies to run color revolutions abroad, now they are directed inward. See the writings, and talks by Mike Benz for details. Obviously the program has been very successful. When I question people as to why they are so anti Trump, I can’t get a cogent answer. Most of the time they will walk away, and not talk to me any more. It’s like insulting someone’s religion.

jagibbons in reply to DaveGinOly. | August 13, 2025 at 8:33 am

Dems won’t deal with crime because dealing with crime means that more young black men will be arrested and likely imprisoned. It’s bad optics.

SCOOP: “Thank God!” President Trump’s historic takeover of D.C.’s safety praised by residents

https://washingtonreporter.news/p/scoop-thank-god-president-trumps

“You couldn’t pay me to go to Union Station any more,” he said. “Anyone who lives or works here knows the reality. Those that deny that reality are doing it only because of their irrational hatred of Trump.”

“Unable to contain his obvious bitterness, Baker wrote a third post: “Trump himself has been convicted of 34 felonies and is the first criminal elected president.”

Again, historically false. Several of our original presidents were criminals, having been named traitors to the crown by Great Britain. But what’s up with that weasel word “elected?” It makes me suspect we’ll find that some VP who assumed office after the death of his boss had a rap sheet.

“More to the point, why are Democrats siding with D.C. criminals over Trump?”

Because wacko Democrats have pursued their increasingly crabbed political principles until they finally arrived at the absurd reduction that street crime EQUALS Muh Democracy. It is all they defend anymore, it is their only constituency.

Also from the above-referenced article:

“I had a man video up my dress, another homeless man pulled off his pants and start masturbating at me on the metro, been literally chased down the block while a man yelled ‘suck my dick bitch’ at me and NO ONE HELPED ME. I live in Navy Yard so in every instance the police were completely incapable of helping. The one time they arrested someone — the man masturbating — they immediately let him go because there is no cash bail, and then he didn’t show up to court! I know D.C. is dangerous for everyone, but it is WOMEN who suffer the most. D.C. libs have sacrificed women on their alter to progressive crime policies.”

Trump’s right. Everything woke touches turns to sh*t.

Hillary Clinton has claimed that DC’s crime rates are the lowest they have ever been. That’s,like saying someone in critical condition who has improved a bit is healthier than he/she used to be. DC is dangerous. I live in one of the Maryland suburbs, and I haven’t stepped foot into DC in years.
I applaud President Trump’s takeover of the DC police. Indeed, I think that President Trump has not gone far enough: he should refederalize DC by terminating the terrible error of home rule. Regretfully, DemoncRat voters seem to be pro-crime and pro-homelessness based on whom they elect to office. While ordinarily I think DemoncRat voters should stew in their own mess, DC is an exception because it is the nation’s Capital. It needs to be showcased rather than be allowed to continue to degenerate.

henrybowman in reply to JackinSilverSpring. | August 12, 2025 at 3:38 pm

Back when we were newlyweds living in VA outside DC, DW contributed to the kitty by temping. She was an ace, professionally-trained secretary — shorthand, bookkeeping, white gloves, the whole nine yards. Most of her gigs were in VA, but one day she got an offer for a week in DC at a rate 50% higher. On her very first day, the Hanafi Muslims invaded the District Building across the street from her office, taking 150 hostages for three days. She informed the client she would not be returning, and never took a placement in the city again.

henrybowman in reply to JackinSilverSpring. | August 12, 2025 at 3:40 pm

“he should refederalize DC by terminating the terrible error of home rule.”

    “Eleanor Holmes Norton Hardest Hit”

Revoking home rule for DC requires convincing a Congressional majority to vote for that. Foolish resistance,.slow walking, obstruction to the current Federal takeover of LEO by SR police, administrators, DC Courts and especially DC Council to refuse reforms would probably be enough to eventually tip the vote in favor of doing so.

lefty loves dem criminals

they are their children

hands not up but dont shoot

Not only are perps “of color” committing the vast majority of violent crimes in D.C., black residents also comprise the bulk of homicide victims.

Funny how the vile, stupid and evil Dhimmi-crats won’t talk about either fact.

Take a gander at the number of black victims in unsolved homicide cases — it’s astounding. “Black Lives Matter,” my rear end:

https://mpdc.dc.gov/page/unsolved-homicides

As per usual, GOP adults must step in, to clean up the stinking doo-doo left behind by inept, criminal-coddling and otherwise derelict Dhimmi-crat toddlers.

“Those of you who don’t know what authoritarianism looks like”
I happen to know exactly what it looks like.
It looks like censorship, cancellation, lockdowns, official lies, 4AM armed raids on peaceful families, forced injections, puppet “leadership,” arms confiscation, outlawed vehicles and home appliances, incessant lawfare against your political enemies, indefinite detention without trial, and frequent celebrations for Party members paid with tax funds, all topped off by a buttlicking captive media telling us how great it all is for us.

A too common justification by the left for gun control or confiscation is that it is worth it if it saves just one life. Yet, 200 murders a years in DC seems to be acceptable to them–until of course it’s one of them.

Do the dems even realize how they’re beclowning themselves, or is it more like the delusion of the emperor with no clothes?

jagibbons in reply to UJ. | August 13, 2025 at 8:38 am

Exactly that. Or maybe worse. Instead of a naked emperor, they are clothing themselves in s#(t and claiming it’s royal robes.

The only convictions they care about are Trump’s.
Every other person who is “law enforcement engaged” is a innocent baby angel Aladdin.
