Illegal Immigrant Released After Decapitation Allegations — ICE Recaptures
“It is absolutely repulsive this monster walked free on Illinois’ streets after allegedly committing such a heinous crime.”
In a shocking failure of the Illinois justice system, a Lake County judge released a Mexican illegal immigrant in April, despite gruesome evidence that he allegedly decapitated a woman and stored her body in a bleach-filled container in his yard. It took nearly three months for ICE to track him down again — this time in a Chicago market.
Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez, 52, was first arrested and charged in April with concealing a corpse, abusing a corpse, and obstruction of justice after police found the body of 37-year-old Megan Bos, missing since February, in a storage bin on his property in Waukegan, Illinois. Her body, allegedly decapitated, had been hidden for weeks in a container of bleach.
“It is absolutely repulsive this monster walked free on Illinois’ streets after allegedly committing such a heinous crime,” a DHS spokesperson told Fox News. “Megan Bos and her family will have justice.”
And yet, within hours of his first court appearance in April, Judge Randie Bruno released him, citing the SAFE-T Act — a controversial Illinois law that critics say favors suspects over safety. Antioch Mayor Scott Garnter was furious.
“I was shocked to find out literally the next day that the person that they had arrested for this had been released from prison under the SAFE-T Act less than, detained less, I think, than 48 hours,” Gartner said. “There’s other extenuating circumstances in this case. Not only the type of crime, how long the crime was concealed, the fact that the person that was arrested for this is not a U.S. citizen, and, you know, can maybe [flee] the country.”
For nearly three months, Mendoza-Gonzalez — a non-citizen, accused of one of the most repugnant crimes imaginable — was free to roam Illinois. According to DHS, he told police that Bos overdosed at his home, then broke her phone, failed to call 911, kept her in the basement for two days, and eventually dumped her in his yard.
Republican state Rep. Tom Weber expressed concern about Mendoza-Gonzalez’s release in April.
“Someone that hid their body in a garbage can for 51 days after leaving it in the basement for two days, after not calling 911 [and] breaking a phone. Is this a non-detainable offense?” Weber said. “Should we not find out, wait for a toxicology report, anything?”
Finally, this past weekend, almost three months later, ICE agents arrested Mendoza-Gonzalez at a market in Chicago. He is now in federal custody.
The American people should never have to rely on federal immigration authorities to fix what a state judge’s decision so egregiously broke. One woman is dead. Her accused killer walked free for months. And the only reason he’s in custody today is because ICE stepped in, not Illinois justice.

If the Democrats won the story would have ended with the illegal being released.
Trouble deciding if you believe in conspiracy theorists or Trump?
Trump is bringing a victory marathon.
In fairness lots of recent ‘conspiracy theories’ have turned out to be pretty accurate, especially when compared to the claims of the regime of the day, mostly b/c the real regime is the go along/get along DC uni party and the faceless bureaucracy who often seem to seek to thwart the voters will. No less a figure than Ronald Reagan put it succinctly ‘trust but verify’.
Conspiracy theory should be rebranded to conspiracy prophesy, given how many have come true. They may have taken some time but they came true eventually.
When a conspiracy theory has evidence behind it it isn’t a conspiracy theory the left misuses the term.
We have a history of people using their authority to substitute for evidence and making claims about Trump that if true should mean Trump hangs or at least spends the rest of his life in jail…..
I am still waiting for evidence Trump is an FSB agent out to destroy NATO on behalf of his master Vladimir Putin aren’t you?
We have a history of conspiracy theories about Donald Trump, they never have evidence, and always have firm evidence against just like today.
Asking a federal judge to remove the confidentiality of a grand jury is not normal, that Trump is asking for it proves Alan Dershowitz is 100% right Trump has NOTHING to hide.
Unless you got tired of winning in which case he better hide his victory marathon.
“In a shocking failure of the Illinois justice system”
No!
“In a typical expected failure of the Illinois justice system”
There. Fixed it. You’re welcome.
No!
Success. This is exactly what they designed it to do.
Gonzalez should have kept a cool head and put it in the refrigerator.
You might think his failure would put him in hot water, but no. Now he’s on ICE.
That’s quite the grant of good faith trust and compassion the Illinois Legislature is allowing the Illinois Judiciary to grant to defendants.
if the gop doesnt run on the legit agenda of
dems hate women……..
Illinois, where the governor’s mansion is a half-way home between freedom and federal prison.
…in the wrong direction.
Hard to believe that the judge, Randie Bruno, accepted the perp’s story as possibly credible: the woman died of an overdose, he didn’t know what to do, so he broke her cell phone, kept her body around until he finally stored it in a bin full of bleach. Somewhere along the line. The woman lost her head – literally.
I hate it when that happens. At about $8 a gallon, that’s a lot of money for bleach!
Lake County, IL coroner states that she was not decapitated. https://www.lakemchenryscanner.com/2025/07/20/ice-arrests-mexican-national-released-after-being-charged-with-dumping-missing-antioch-womans-body-in-waukegan/
This piece states that “Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez, 52, was first arrested and charged in April with concealing a corpse, abusing a corpse, and obstruction of justice…” and also calls him the accused killer. If he hasn’t been charged with her death then legally he isn’t the accused killer and the decision not to keep him in custody makes a lot more sense.
Between the headline implying that she was murdered by decapitation instead of after her death and the article in the comment denying that she was decapitated LI should pull this story to maintain its’ credibility.
I agree. It also appears that this spin came from ICE, whose credibility is under such unwarranted assault… it’s not a good look.
