MSNBC came under fire when an article by legal analyst Danny Cevallos had a headline that could be taken as sympathetic towards Laken Riley’s murderer.

You can tell by the sub-headline that the article would explain why the judge found illegal alien Jose Antonio Ibarra, 26, guilty of murdering Augusta University student Laken Riley.
Riley’s murder became a political rallying cry at this summer’s Republican National Convention because Ibarra entered the country illegally in 2022. But for all the political controversy, the outcome of this trial was never in doubt.
The verdict was going to be guilty.
The sentence was going to be life without parole.
For the defense, this was a hopeless case. The defense did the best it could with bad facts. It almost surely knew it was going to lose. That’s probably why it requested a bench (judge-only) trial instead of a jury trial.
However, it’s MSNBC. You cannot blame people for showing disgust towards the headline.
Therefore, the outlet changed the headline.

No he hasn’t. I’ve listened to him for a number of years and he is still pretty much the same person. He has just finally started paying attention to corruption in government which started over the censoring of comedians, Newsome destroying California and Rogan being attacked over Covid and the progressives trying to get him thrown off of Spotify. He has always been pro gun, pro free speech etc. He is still a social liberal outside of men in woman’s sports brought on by that guy beating the hell out of woman in the UFC.
Only surprise is that they didn’t give him a job anchoring the primetime 7 pm show.

As he was found guilty, he no longer needs to be referred to as the “alleged” killer.
They’re right that it’s a political cause celebre for the right, and so is like trying Trump in NYC with a democrat jury, assuming there’s the corresponding jury here.
Nevertheless the guy is actually guilty. It’s not an obscure crime dreamed up for the person, but a crime with traditional forensics and evidence.

I’m still stunned that Rittenhouse was acquitted.
They had nothing on Rittenhouse. And when the only living “victim” admits on the stand Rittenhouse only shot him after he pointed a gun at Rittenhouse it is pretty much done.
The entire Rittenhouse affair would not have occurred if 5,000 Kenoshans with AR-15s had shown up on the streets to help him keep their city safe.
I suspect one could replace the number ‘5,000’ with ‘10’ and have the same result.

I should point out that the announcement MSNBC was going to bite the dust was the day after Joe and Mika’s job interview at Mar-A-Lago. The pilgrimage of theirs was not a coincidence.
Not for much longer. It’s been announced they are being spun off from Comcast and the name changed. They won’t be in business in less than a year unless somebody else buys them and who would want to buy a money loser like that with such overpaid “talent”?
I feel bad for Riley ‘s family and the brutal murder she had.

I guess I’m in the minority. I didn’t think the original headline was that bad as he was identified as her killer and no, he never stood a chance which is why he waived a jury trial. The second attempt is better, though.
My problem with both headlines is that neither identify him as an illegal alien. This is why MSNBC is soon to be out of business.
