U. South Carolina Prof Calls GOP Party of the ‘Uneducated’ Who Hold America ‘Hostage’

“This is why there’s such a push to weaken education, ban books, and outlaw the teaching of Black history by the Republican Party”

Ahh, the old ‘hostage’ line. We haven’t seen this since the red wave of 2010.

Campus Reform reports:

South Carolina prof decries GOP as party of the ‘uneducated’ who hold America ‘hostage’

An instructor at the University of South Carolina recently posted various anti-Republican social media messages disparaging Donald Trump and conservatives.

Sueanna Smith took to X on Election Day to slam the “uneducated population” of the United States.

”There is a reason why educated people vote blue,” Smith wrote. “What we’re seeing is the uneducated population of America holding the rest of the country hostage.”

”This is why there’s such a push to weaken education, ban books, and outlaw the teaching of Black history by the Republican Party,” she continued.

Smith’s X account is currently private, but additional posts have been shared on Rumble.

”Welp, in hindsight, Hillary Clinton wasn’t exactly wrong when she called Trump fanatics a basket of deplorables,” Smith said on Oct. 30.

”I’ve found a common trait among many who among many who voted for Donald Trump: poor literacy skills,” she wrote in another post. “Even some who hold college degrees are struggling to differentiate between ‘educated’ and ‘degree-holder.’ Perhaps disbanding the dept of education isn’t a good plan after all, Mr. Trump.”

”My daughter was stationed in Texas for a year,” Smith also noted in another message. “I don’t know what is going on out there, but she left a Bernie supporter and came back MAGA. When I voted blue today, I was happily cancelling out her MAGA vote.”

I thought maybe Dr. Smith was in Education. Nope, English.

“This is why there’s such a push to weaken education, ban books, and outlaw the teaching of Black history by the Republican Party”

Except no one wants to do those things. Liar.

He appears to despise the uneducated. He will continue to despise them even though it will be someone “uneducated” who has the skills to get his Prius out of the snow bank he just drove into.

As an Alum, married to an Alum, grandchildren and children of Alums and parents of Alum, we will be bring this to the attention of the University President.

Arrogance levels all in its path. Next up: “Prof Smith”. Maybe the student who said he is “leaving the US and moving to Hawaii” is one of her “educated students”. I hold PhD professors lower than politicians and journalists – far lower.

Are there ANY standards for personal conduct in the US?

I understand she has the first amendment right to say these things, but what gives her the right to embarrass her employer? and her colleagues? and her students?

“what gives her the right to embarrass her employer?”
Her employer’s complicity… or total lack of balls. Nothing else.

“What we’re seeing is the uneducated population of America holding the rest of the country hostage.”
We created this country. You’re just “colonizers.”

I am quite sure Professorette Sowanne Smith argues with her bank that she can’t be “overdrawn” since she still has checks left….

Evidently the citizens of South Carolina are proud to have their children taught by this woman

and by this woman’s colleagues in the department where she’s comfortably ensconced.

Remarkable.

What a country the U.S. is.

well, if you pronounce her first name phonetically, at least her parents got something right

Even assuming everything she said to be true (which it isn’t, by a long shot), this is literally what democracy means. Whenever a single decision must be made for everyone, the only alternative to the majority imposing their will on the minority is the minority imposing their will on the majority, which is obviously worse.

Who puts their degree abbreviation on X? /sarc

Only people who feel insecure about their professional credentials.

Someone who apparently clings bitterly to the notion that getting a Ph.D. in a thing called “English”
makes one’s opinions of interest to the English-speaking world.
Even when the subject matter is political science, history, econometrics, nursing, physics, automobile mechanics, and interior design.

Smith’s daughter went to Texas a Bernie supporter, left a year later a MAGA supporter.

Seems pretty clear why she wants more ‘education’. Apparently the current indoctrination model isn’t sufficiently rigorous enough.

I’m immediately impressed with degree holders expressing their intemperate wisdom outside of their credentialed field. Insularity run amok!
